  1. I may be there. If not I'll be in sunny Malta anyway
  2. It's a rare occasion to be able to agree with both Tris AND Scotty but this is one of those. In my opinion, football would much poorer with video technology. Personally I don't want exact decisions or the best team always winning. The controversy, disputes and arguments make football what it is. A game of passion and, at times, injustice. Many times I've been clutching my head in frustration at some idiot of a ref denying Rovers but football wouldn't be the same without it. No controversial goal line decisions? What'd be the point of that? Give me talking points and managers declaring "we was robbed" anytime. Even if it costs a team a Championship/ Relegation/ Promotion? Long shot I know, but still....
  3. As soon as I seen it I knew it was a goal. Here is a replay: Error The linesman is not that far away at all.
  4. What absolute twaddle. It's like saying that so long as a child has stabalisers on its bike it can't cycle on two wheels, so best keep them. Why not just get rid of them and see how the atmosphere improves. There may be a lull as the crowd adapts but they'll soon be cycling away no probs. Try sitting at the back of the BBE towards the JWS. I'm sick to death of chants (and practically every football chant can be drummed to) being destroyed by the drummer, who doesn't understand that sound travels at a set speed. By the time he hears the chants near us, starts beating his bloody drum and the sound gets back it's invariably half a beat out and the chant is destoyed. THAT'S WHY THERE'S NO ATMOSPHERE!!!! nail on the head! I can't comment to much, as I have only been to a couple of live games. But on the tele, it sounds terrible. We need a few italian ultra imports to bring their drums, I'm sure Souey has some contacts!
  5. I'm going to go with a 2-1 win to Rovers. Gallagher and Emerton
  6. This is why I am always having shots at Farina. Even the last place Sth Americans will tear that defence apart.
  7. Farina's choice of teams = me disliking him
  8. With away travel, are you given a specific seat? If not, why don't the people who want to stand go up the back and do so, so those who don't can sit down?
  9. I saw the same programme (the bloke was in his seventies!) and agree it is an illness which will not be cured by 2,3, 5 years in prison. These people will reoffend because it is a basic instinct that they find hard to control. I'm all for the chemical castration. And in this case, the accused had been abusing since he was 13. So obviously it is a mental problem that wasn't dealt with properly. One thing that was a bit weird, he said Blackburn was full of tasty talent. I din't see any talent when I was there... I musn't of been in the right places!!
  10. Just saw the highlights tonight and thought you guys were talking the Bothroyd incident up a bit, but damn, he been to Bruce Lee school of Kung Fu?!!
  11. And for those of us here in Australia, the game will be on Foxtel at 3.10 am. Not sure if that is daylight savings time or not.
  12. And when you watch a team like Arsenal, samtheozzy, who break down one end of the field to the other to get within scoring distance so quick, it shows we lack that certain spark.
  13. Funny how a week ago everyone was saying Tugay should be next to Bazza, now he's had his chance everyone is saying the opposite. Football is a confusing thing sometimes. Last season I would of agreed with you. This season I have not seen anything that Tugay has added to the team. Not that I get too see as many games as you lot, but yeah
  14. Agree with Scotty, Flitcroft should take the role that Tugay played yesterday.
  15. Talk about drama queens! I'm glad Hughes made all those changes. If it has given him ideas on what team to play and thrash Charlton on the weekend I'm even more happier. We all like a good cup run, but we have a new manager, who needs to know who he can play for PL games, to get us up as high as possible on the table. If putting out an experimental sidein the League Cup is the answer, then I'm behind him.
  16. Especially in Australia, Dave - it's vile (except at an Irish pub in Paddington whose name escapes me) I was wondering what the big fuss was about that stuff. I thought it was terrible until I had it in the UK. Nice
  17. No panic yet from me. As far as I'm concerned, the season starts against Portsmouth. We have played 3 of the supposed top 4 sides in just as many weeks. Mind you, some of the players need a right kick up the backside, so whoever is in charge next better do it. Was funny to see Mourinho's post match interview, saying how Drogba should of received a penalty and if it had of been RVN, it would of been given. I like him already
  18. imo Hughes could be disastrous. The biggest criticism of GS was that his tactical nous was poor as was his ability to manage and motivate his players s in dividuals, these qualities are absolutely imperative nowadays. Those abilities ...or lack of em constitute the biggest question marks over Hughes, especially the motivation cos by and large motivational skills are not required for managing minor international teams. Tried and tested candidates only please there is no room for sentiment. Fair enough, but i have my doubts over Strachan. Well, I don't envy the job JW has, whoever he hires will cause some sort of debate amongst us all.
  19. If Hoddle is handed the job I will never go to Ewood Park again. And I mean it. Neither will I!
  20. Fair enough. I just thought it was one decent season though. Maybe holding his Coventry days against him maybe.
  21. What is the infatuation with Strachan? Doesn't stand out as a decent manager the least bit too me.
