  1. Snodgrass was released by WBA, wouldnt mind him on free til end of season, be cheap and decent squad player, with bags of expereience
  2. On the whole ins, Markanday, nice signing, injury a bummer but nice to have him through door. Zeefuik - Solid first team player, offers options and genuine cover/competition at right back Giles - 9 assist already this season, with Pickering and Edun injuries, great bit of business Hedges - Cheap, cheerful, low risk low cost. Brown - Development squad Outs Clarkson - couldn't get in team Butterworth - just not happened for him Carter - will come back better player. Chapman - shouldn't of got new deal, wasted valuable funds in doing so Mcbride - not near first team Key players have stayed We are slightly stronger if everyone was fit. My Concern, Bournemouth have probably catapulted themselves into certainties for 2nd place. They've signed some real quality, Cantwell in particular is an oustanding player. Other clubs in and around us, also signed some decent players. That gap to 7th is a massive plus, and we may just need it, given injuries and expected suspensions.
  3. Trial by media? This approach eventually had the owners solicitors take out the last man in the boardroom who thought he was wiser than them. When you have a discussion, make a decision, everyone is clear of the decision, then find the need to wash it out in public, thats never going to be wise
  4. I dont think you need to explain yourself. The club handled this whole thing poorly, and there will be consequences far more than JR staying until the summer. You was fed the right information from an Ewood point of view, but the owners ultimately made it quite clear who is boss. I'm like you nowadays, prefer to say nothing, as its not worth the hassle, and you get abused for sharing what you've heard. Twitter is fantastic for getting abused too. You did a good job with this, and with four hours to go, it could change again. Other clubs want players like Joe, and with the right bargaining chip, it gets sanctioned. It was just never going to be Bournemouth in the owners eyes, who are extremely angry that people have tried to back them into a corner publically, at a time which has been their best since they arrived
  5. There is time yet, but leaving it until today to save a £1, puts us up against it. Clubs elsewhere have managed to sign players from worldwide, we are taking an age just to do a loan deal. We've been poor in the january windows since our stable administration left the club. I wouldnt trust Waggott n co to run a bath
  6. Alan Nixons interview on BBC Lancashire absolutely spot on regarding Rothwell. Everyone knew there was never going to be a sale, so TM should of stayed quiet rather than compromise player/club in effort to speak via media to owners. Also agree with him regarding the ludicrous decision of so many clubs of trying to steal a pound by waiting til end of window to sign players when they should/get deals done early and get a months worth of games out of them. Pains me to say the above, he never forgave me for telling him we were signing Dann and Yakubu
  7. I'm expecting 3 more, some deals will be on ice, as the selling clubs scramble for replacements. Its a race against time, Re Bournemouth, they have surplus players, its natural that we would ask during negotiations who can be make weights and who is available. Not got any names, but know the question has been asked. We also have money to spend on fees , if the wages can fit into the budget. Given the contracts not signed, we cannot break that pay structure and further de-rail morale
  8. Never a right or a wrong, things can change in a matter of seconds, especially if suddenly a Bournemouth player is heading to Rovers
  9. I'm not too sure he is in Bouremouth, hearing he will be at our training ground
  10. Seems Ewood and India are not in sink, we have been here so many times. There is no way Venkys sanction a transfer to a direct rival, its a £200 million decision, and regardless of what they'd like to do at Ewood, you have to be pretty good of making a case for Bouremouth. Rovers should of played this behind closed doors, regardless of players request to speak to a club. Hundreds of players linked with moves all over the world today but how many of their clubs have come out publically and stated the player has asked to speak to them, totally compromising the idea of any deal falling through and the player being reintegrated into the squad. We are gearing up for the Premier League on the pitch, but off the pitch we are again showing why we are amateurish at best and need better in that boardroom
  11. I dont believe the owners stance has ever changed, regardless of where JR is.
  12. Thought i'd re-post WAGGOTT interview with radio lancs from September https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p09wkr8f
  13. He said clearly in bbc radio lancs interview that due to the pandemic, the figures the players think they can get elsewhere are just not there.
  14. I agree, handled well is when he dont end up at Bouremouth, christ i would take Burnley other them especially if we miss out on automatic promotion to Bouremouth. Regardless of players wishes, money on table, Bouremouth should be flat no
  15. As my post says further down, i'd not sell to a rlval, and if itl costs rovers a 200 million windfall at the end of the season, i'd sack the lot of them for cashing in.
  16. They come, they go..... If he completes deal to Bournemouth, although not an ideal destination from our promotion hopes point of view, then he goes. He has been integral in getting us to 2nd in the table, and without him, we wouldnt be in second. I'm thankful for his efforts, and wish things were different and our contract offer was better and it had been signed. Club made it clear, August, September, October and November if these deals were not signed then they would look to sell them. Rovers sudden turn in fortunes on the pitch has complicated that stance. Waggott publically stated in radio lancs interview that the contract rebels felt they can get more money elsewhere, he stated that it was unlikely, and those contracts are no longer available, and people are not banging the door down to sign them. In the end the club has followed through with its threat, no better terms and allegedly accepted a bid. The player has asked to speak to them, and decided he wants out now. I personally don't think all the blame is Joe's, we've had months to offer better terms and have chosen not to. Lessons need to be learnt, personally i'd have never let him join a promotion rival in this window, but its not my job to pay the bills. New hero's will step up, one player dont make a team, we get our attacking players fit and confinue to be tight at the back we will be okay. We will sign a couple tomorrow and would of done regardless of Rothwell, Its easy to dwell, but it wont change what will be will be
  17. Given the guy who said he wouldnt be sold owns the club, i think it was decent source. But no dufferent source
  18. Just someone who has come up trumps before, not heard it myself from the usuals, but as its turning into rothwell thread thought i'd put it out there so we can consider incomings
  19. We were beaten to his signature by Derby too, so one we've followed closely. Be surprised though if a target now, centre midfield is where we will try and strengthen. That being said we did play a right back as an attacking right forward yesterday and a centre back up front. So Tombola Tony's philosophy if you have 2 feet you can play anywhere 1-11 wouldnt surprise me if we buy a keeper instead
  20. A name thats cropped up, no club, short deal end of season, not sure money be a lot. Dont know if much in it, was mentioned in passing.
  21. More interested in incomings now, Obi Mikel Curtis Giles I'm sure be lots of names banded about over next few hours
  22. Trying to extract from my brain last time Rovers announced a new signing on a sunday? and i'm struggling. Nice pick up this, cheap, low risk and a body in the building when we are desperate for them. No pressure on the player, and decent length of contract
  23. We can give lots of scenarios, 1. A number of players wanted loan moves august and this month, but were told then and now, no despite them not getting game time. Do we freeze these out? Do we get on their case? 2. Mulgrew was told he wouldnt play and was totally gobsmacked when club accepted wigan loan offer, he never asked to leave. Returned to club, trained like a real pro, but was never considered again. 3. Nelsen was frozen out, everyone told injured for the lomg term, sold 24 hours later lined up for spurs 72 hours later. 4. Salgago - frozen out 5. Rhodes denied move, stayed another 12 months, played and scored. 6. Gestede wanted to leave in January, stayed til summer, continued to perform with credit 7. Sutton wanted out the season before he went. Many of the above was not made public at the time, but came out long after the event. Club has gone public to force this through. There is always different sides to a story and so many players will be sat there tomorrow around the country wondering where they will be Tuesday. If their move does not happen for any particular reason, they will likely line up for their current clubs come saturday Rothwells situation is not unique, its just football
  24. You've asked the question, I've given you my thoughts. He will knuckle down, As have others within the current squad in similar circumstances 😉
  25. I dont see this scenario if he has to stay. He is out of contract in the summer, how he conducts himself between now and then would have a massive baring where he ends up. If he acts unprofessional, interest will start to disappear. Other clubs and managers do their homework, no one wants to bring a sulking player into their set up, or a player who had down tools. There is some high profile players at big clubs rotting in the reserves due to their lack of professionalism. There is also a big promotion bonus carrot, nothing he has done on the pitch this season has been anything less than committed. He has asked the club to consider the offers and to let him explore it, its the clubs perogative to say yes or no whilst he is a contracted player, he knows where we are in the league, and also knows he has contributed to that. He also knows rovers even with a promotion couldnt entertain the wages he is likely been offered elsewhere. Joe leaving now or the summer will happen, we cant offer him a wage that dwarfs the rest of the squad. I suspect if he ends up staying, he will work, train and play even harder to ensure he has great options in the summer. Rothwell falling off the map does his future no favours, the best way to get that top move in the summer, is by playing games and impacting our team in a positive way.
