If signing Baker for a year allows us to let Garrett go and get 30+ starts and comeback stronger for it next season then it’ll do for me. If Baker comes in and makes more than 15 starts across the season I’ll be surprised. He’ll be used as an option to rest our starting two in the middle, either starting during periods of heavy scheduling or by playing the last 20 mins of games.

On the face of it, it seems like it’s going to be a decent window. My main concern is that despite bringing in £35m+ we’re going to finish up the window having spent circa £3.5m. A tenth of what we have brought in. We also haven’t signed any saleable assets. Apart from Carter, where’s the next big pay day coming from?

Sound logic right up until the point where you mentioned £10m. Most likely we’ll spend about £3m maximum on the GK and Cantwell. Then sign a winger and CM on loan. With Gueye, Vale and Leonard being our striker options.

Don’t think the club would risk upsetting JDT further by getting rid of another experienced player. I would imagine the club will be trying to extend Gallagher’s contract on a lesser salary for more years rather than trigger the extension for £18k p/w for another year.
