Any concerted booing of Barry Ferguson would surely just enhance the likelihood of him leaving rovers this week. The loss of him, our best midfielder, with little chance of a replacement at this time, would certainly increase the chances of relegation. So if anyone is prone to booing him, consider what you might be doing.

Time to move on. Let's get this one out of the way, before choosing the second striker. As before, the second vote will be from all of the present options except the player chosen in this poll.
-
No, Shillito, I don't. If he is living in the real World - and from what we know about Ferguson he isnt - then he would reluctantly have to agree that he was never a £7.5 million player just because he had a few successful seasons in Scotland. £7.5m was Rangers valuation of the player. That's what Rovers had to pay. What anyone on here values him at doesn't make any difference to anything. If Rangers valued him at that price then, why should they value him at any less than that now?

Scored 7 goals in one game didn't he? Anyone want to do a profile?
-
Savage also said on SSN, that the opportunity to link up again with Mark Bowen was important. He rates Bowen one of the best coaches in the land and can't understand why Birmingham got rid of him.

Graham Fenton? and before you ask - NO
-
The best strikers that I ever saw play were, in order: Shearer Pickering McEvoy Byrom Sutton. Notice - no Garner

Spot on BBE'r. For anyone who's new to this idea, we're looking for two players who can go down as the two greatest ever strikers. As before, it's all a matter of judgement chaps. What is greatness to one person, isn't necessarily greatness to another. To me, the greatest player doesn't necessarily have to be the best player although he more than likely would be, but he would have to be someone who deserves to be remembered for a hell of a long time - ala Crompton and Forrest.
-
There's two ways to take that, Rev That'll teach me to go for the cheap seats. Bloody dangerous over there.
-
Blimey that was quick!

First of all, sorry about the delay in getting this started again. My computer crashed two weeks ago and arrived back from repair today. I just hope the delay hasn't caused this topic to fall apart. The team where we left of was: Friedel Crompton England Hendry Le Saux Douglas Clayton Forrest Duff We simply need two strikers to finish off. It's bloomin' obvious who will win the first slot, I'm still not entirely sure who will get the second striker position. I struggled to get a decent list of left wingers together. Not so with the strikers. Take a look at this : Alan Shearer, Fred Pickering, Andy McEvoy, Derek Dougan, John Byrom, Chris Sutton, Tommy Briggs, Simon Garner. David Speedie, Mike Newell, Don Martin, Tony Field. Andy Cole, Andy Crawford. Peter Dobing. Matt Jansen, chris thomson, andy kennedy, howard gale. Roy Vernon. Duncan McKenzie Jim Fryatt, Mick Hickman, Jack Lewis, Ian Lawther, Paul Round, John Lowey, Martin Britt, Ken Beamish, John O'Mara, Stuart Parker, David Hargreaves. Bobby Svarc. Kevin Stonehouse, Dave gregory, Norman Bell, Paul McKinnon, Viv Busby, Tony Diamond, Sean Curry, Terry Eccles, Keith Fear, Joe Craig, Kevin Gallacher, Roy Wegerle, Have I missed anyone out? OK, it's open for discussion before it will have to be pruned.

Just seen the piccy's now, philipl. I was stood right underneath the screen when it came down.

I've been offline for the last two weeks - computer broke down. I don't know if this has been posted, but 1 minute before half time a ten foot girder fell off the top of the big TV screen. It missed me by about 12 feet, that's not much when it's fallen from that height. It was even nearer a steward, who acted as if nothing had happened. If it had fallen about 2 minutes later, someone would have probably died.

Monday lunchtime 12:32, the draw for the 3rd round of the F.A. cup - live on the wireless. Factory workers and office workers alike returned from lunch just a few minutes late. Either that or they huddled behind machines out of sight of the gaffer. It seemed as if the whole world stopped for those few minutes. Whispers slowly emerged from the huddle to spread like wildfire around the offices or shop floors. "North end away, pause---------to Arsenal". Gasps and real excitement on the faces of the North end fans. "Hang on, United at home---------to Leeds." groans all round, then a quick look behind to see if the gaffer's around. He isn't. He knows what's going on, but is keeping out of the way. "Shhhh- shudup!" "Rovers against West Ham!"Gasps from the rovers fans. "Where at?" voices from the back. "Away" - "oh no". "That is the end of the draw for the third round of the F.A. cup". Everyone quietly makes their way back to the lathe or planer or office desk, or wherever. The mind wasn't on the work though, it was on the chances of winning the tie. What chance of Rovers going to west Ham and winning, or can we scrape a draw and bring them back to Ewood three days later? F.A. cup day itself was marvellous. The first time I ever saw Rovers was in a home tie against Middlesbrough. 30.000 fans greeted me as I walked onto the riverside from the entrance behind the middle of the stand. Brindle Brass Band were playing in the centre of the pitch. That was the answer to the quiz of the time. "who played at Ewood on good friday morning and Deepdale on good friday afternoon?" That day made me into a roverite for ever. Anyway onto Cardiff City. Oh how the authorities have allowed a great competition to ebb away. When they allowed Manchester United to play the reserve team in the competition, was the day the F.A. cup died for me. No-one wants to know that competition now. When Colchester drew the mighty Leeds team, the fans knew they were in for a real treat. Leeds would bring their strongest team available and want to win badly. Nowadays, giant killing is a thing of the past. The small clubs can still beat the top clubs, but not beat their strongest side. They can beat their reserves. That's all. Anyhow, there wasn't a preview lined up for this tie, so I thought I'd put a few words in myself for a change So off you go!

Listen folks, what CN 174 is looking for is a couple of posts that argue the reason why Brad is the greatest ever rovers 'keeper. In the original topic there were virtually no real posts as to why he should have won it. Someone should be able to make out a case for him - he did actually win the vote. CN 174 wants the posts to include in her tribute to the greatest ever team. C'mon guys.

This is all ridiculous. Disaster on a massive scale and what do we get on here? We pledged this and you only pledged that. What on earth is there to gain from this kind of argument. The only thing that matters, is that all the affected countries recieve the help they need and a bit quicker than the way it's happening now. There are many more countries capable of contributing than GB and the USA. As long as the total aid is enough, what the heck!
-
I don't hate Americans, American. If it weren't for countries such as yours and ours, who have been prepared to stand up against the evils of this world, we wouldn't have the freedoms we have today.
-
He'll be replacing Bothroyd who's out for the next half a dozen games.
-
But with Savage, he can pick a pass out, run around all game with pace and score. Savages' profile He's never been known for his goalscoring. 24 goals in ten seasons. Bet Flitty's done that.
-
Oh good, thats alright. Those lost season ticket sales had absolutely nothing to do with the (unavoidable) sale of our own academy produced, true God given talent, crowd favourite, World Cup 'select XI' star, modest and unassuming blond destroyer and wing wizard, Damien Duff then? Duff left while the rest of the players were on pre-season in the good ol' USA. ST sales were pretty much over by then. So, no it was nothing to do with that. It was the awful home form. poodly tip:)
-
Why stop at selling our best midfielder. Why not sell our best defender and striker as well? We would probably make quite a few bob on all of them. While were at it, sell Brad while he's worth something. I really don't understand folk saying we should sell our best players. Can't think of any other clubs fans who would want to do that.
-
Tris - the board couldn't understand why, when finishing 6th, that ST sales dropped by 10%. They chose to put the blame for that on the Blackburn public. We all know the real reason was the dismally poor product on offer. Any reasonably perceptive board would have seen through that. They continued to back him while at the same time allowing player/management problems to weaken the squad considerably. They allowed the 6th placed finish to cloud their judgement of what was ACTUALLY happening to the club. John - We're talking of TWO years of diabolical home performances. During those two years, we've lost 25% of our season ticket sales. Yes, Souness was the right man at the right time for Blackburn Rovers, but the board went along with him for too long, they couldn't see that the supporters were voting with their feet and of course, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but once the fans were leaving in their droves, the board should have acted immediately.
-
John, people have long memories. Even with Duff we were dire. It went on for more than one year as well. The season when we finished 6th, do you remember the last home game of the season against West Brom? Let me remind you - at the final whistle, half of the fans had gone home. The team had been booed off and the "lap of honour" , was the best referrence to Rovers performances that the board could have got. Unfortunately, they couldn't see the wood for the trees. they were astonished that ST sales dropped by 10%, not many of the fans were. They should have acted then.
-
On the other hand, isn't it the job of the board to take into account the 4000 season ticket holders who have withdrawn their support? There was one very good reason for that - even taking into account the 6th place finish, the entertainment/results at Ewood were appauling. Souness did well to last as long as he did. IMO, the board should have stepped in before Cole was given away.
