  1. I wonder if Craig Short considered applying, although I don't know if he has a coaching badge.
  2. Well how the heck are we supposed to pick 15 names to start a poll?
  3. Dalglish and Shearer, sounds fantastic. But I don't think Kenny would apply, and I don't think Rovers would approach him. Too much history, too much going back. Shearer? I think his heart is at Newcastle, too much water under the bridge since his time at ewood. But I'd love it to happen. Just think of the players we could attract.
  4. You've made the mistake of criticising Souness Den. American doesn't like that. A-Ha. American humour, eh?
  5. What's that mean, American?
  6. I'm not going to say who I want for manager - whoever I think of, I can think of a reason why I don't want him. I don't envy JW and the board, it's such a vitally important task and so easy to get wrong. One thing I'm really looking forward to, is a new man coming in and saying such blissful things as; "We aim to finish higher than last season, and the season after that we'll be aiming to improve again. In fact we'll be looking to improve every season." and: "We would love to win the FA cup, I'll be fielding a full strength side and we'll give it everything we've got." and: "Getting this club into Europe and pitting our best side against the best in Europe is the ultimate ambition." Oh JOY
  7. Why have William Hill stopped taking bets on the next rovers manager? Willian Hill
  8. A lot of good reading in the LET A new manager in within a week or so?
  9. Yes, definitely. As I said in my earlier post, any all-time Rovers team would HAVE to include Keith Newton. If he is not in at right back then he must go in at left. He was a class act whereever he played. I dont rem that happening too often cos Billy Wilson made that position his own, at least not until he went to Everton where Catterick forced him to play and he coped so well that England even used him there. Else, Bray, Newton, Clayton, Woods, McGrath - sticks in my mind.
  10. Not quite "don't let the door hit you", but the fact that permission given to talk to Newcastle yesterday afternoon, then compensation settled Monday morning, says it all really. Rovers didn't put up much of a fight, did they? No they did not. I do like Williams, that's that over with now let's move on attitude. I am feeling better and better about this as the day goes on. Now it all depends on who we appoint. I imagine Parkesy to be in charge while all the applications come in then if the right man is not there I expect us to make a move for the man we want. I think Rovers really want to get it right. It's vital that they do get it right. The wrong appointment will almost certainly take us down. Listening to JW's interview, he was saying that the applications would be in within a day or so, and from there they could make their move. I would have hoped that if the right man hasn't applied, rovers will go out and target that man.
  11. Wouldn't want anybody who thinks the disabled got their "come uppance for previous sins" anywhere near our club.

  13. Just a question, Newton played quite a few games at left back. Would there be any objections to him being put up for that position? That was my intention. Don't let that put anyone off voting for him now though, cos it might not happen.
  14. Well the one stood in the middle of the road, outside St James's Park, with a megaphone wasn't.
  15. Must admit Peter Reid came to my mind, we wanted him a few years ago. Terrible appointment that would be though, doesn't bear thinking about
  16. I think you're setting your sights a bit low there. There's hardly a manager out there, who is available, that would turn down a job such as rovers.
  17. Betting latest Dean Saunders 12/1?
  18. Radio Lancs saying that Alan Murray and Phil Boersma will follow him. As for Souey - JW said to me that he was the right man, at the right time. Move on.
  19. I resemble that last comment.
  20. Good post, Scotty.
  21. Thanks Maverick. I would take notice of someone like Henning Berg, always came across as a very honest man.
  22. I suspect the Newcastle board see Souness as the man to bring a bit of discipline back to St James' Park, considering the stories we've heard about the unrest in the changing rooms. Trouble is, we have had more player unrest under Souness than any other manager since Jim Iley. Short term he might do OK for you, I would doubt he's the man long term. I wish you and Souey well, the guy certainly worked his socks off at Ewood.
  23. Parkes was a bit of a disaster last time he did the caretaker job. Hope we find the right man sooner rather than later.
  24. Any chance of a full translation, Maverick?
  25. Bet Andy Todd's smiling.
