  1. Not sure if that's fair. Is it a managers fault if a player gets injured?
  2. I'm not sure Brighton fans would swap Duffy for Ayala, but I take your point, I like Ayala a lot. Great player.
  3. Nobody is praising them for having to put money in, but it's better than they have funded him a bit, but not very much. He has found some gems; Dack, Armstrong and Brereton are arguably the best attacking players we have had in the championship.
  4. Well it's better than them not funding them, eh?
  5. I think saying Duffy played a certain way under Hughton does him a disservice. He is starting this season under Potter who really tries to play football . He has actually surprised me this season
  6. I know he isn't popular here, but Duffy is a far, far better player than Lenihan He might do ok at Burnley, but I would suspect they would have other options before him. John Egan at Sheffield united for example
  7. Your example and point on loans is very contradictory. Douglas is a poor example as ya he played before, but we got nothing like his best- so case in point, is uncertainty. Then you go on to say about nothing but expected from a novice, but then you look at Elliott who was a novice is arguably our best ever loan signing. Honestly, how could you class Brereton as anything but a success now?
  8. Agreed. He's not at PL level currently
  9. Abysmal is hyperbole, average would be fair
  10. Would you? I would say look at the division, a handful of teams have managed that and the vast majority of them had parachute money. A lot of managers have overseen far worse spending than Mowbray has
  11. It is pre-contracts mentioned though, not fee transfers. To be honest I don't care when we sign them if they are good players. I don't think signing players in January points to Mowbray staying. His deal is up at the end of the season.
  12. If we have a recruitment team, we need to trust that whoever the manager is they are identifying good players, in positions we need filling. If we dilly dally, we risk losing out on good deals.
  13. Dack was £750,000, widely reported. Grand we will say £3 for AA even though it was £1.75 upfront, Brereton reported at £6 million. We got £15 million for Armstrong, of which Newcastle did get a cut. Still doesn't alter the fact a he sold for 5 times what Mowbray paid for him and scored almost 30 league goals in his final season here. Not every deal will work out but ultimately he has made a profit or at least recouped most of what he spent on the Armstrong deal alone. Yes, we know there have been issues on the field at times, but to someone looking at the figures and from the outside, you can't argue he has done good business. Would have been even better if Dack didn't get injured.
  14. That's why you rely on your recruitment team to sign good players A new manager might not fancy players who are already here. Yu can't just freeze signings because of that. You need to move if good players are available
  15. Dack, Brereton and Armstrong were signed for a total under £10 million pounds. Dack would have left for £15 million plus if fit, Armstrong did leave for £15 million and it should have been more and Brereton will leave for that if not more. That's a £35 million profit. Simple as. Mowbray deserves credit and of course you can say Dack is injured and didn't leave blah , blah, but we all know he would have if fit.
  16. You have to pay staff to make them redundant and I have never heard of a team making their playing staff redundant They aren't going anywhere and are continuing to put money in. We might not give them any credit for that, but tis how it is
  17. Ogbene would be a great signing
  18. No need to call someone an ass just because they say this narrative that Mowbray is somehow unfair to Nyambe is nonsense. He certainly has been poor enough to be dropped IMO opinion as well .I don't think there was protest whenever JRC started, far from it actually. You can't say a player being dropped is "messing them around" in this instance. What games was he started when wasn't fully fit? I rate him too, but I think he is at risk of not living up to his potential and isn't developing at the level some on here expect, or even claim that he has.
  19. A lot easier to get to where Maguire or Lenihan would be playing. Even more straightforward for Brereton than Nyambe. I read before what was involved in his treks and it's not the type of journey that In would be recommending to a guy whose career is on the balance as to the level he plays at, particularly a guy with regular hamstring injuries. I never said it was an easy decision for a player to make
  20. Ah that's not happening so.
  21. Nyambe needs to take a break from international football and focus on his club game. In my opinion.
  22. Sorry, but thats nonsense. He doesn't mess him around. He starts him most games. Stop making excuses for nyambe when he plays badly. Poor performances like yesterday are him and possibly the travel associated with his international career. Poor back up is the best one I have heard yet. So it's Mowbray fault if he plays him and if he doesn't play him? I can see why Mowbray might favour JRC there very easily
  23. If West ham want him they can give us 22 million along with that Scully fella who is on loan at Leyton Orient
  24. Ya, 2 good shouts and I would agree
  25. Would you look at any of the Irish players? Bazuno has looked great in qualifying. Pretty poor overall though imo
