  1. It's not irrelevant, it's just a separate issue. I agreed that window was a failure a minute after the deadline. On the highlighted piece, "not far off what I expected", so you predicted play-offs, ya? That's surprising because 99% of your posts come across as being critical of one thing or another. Very rarely, if ever, see you give any praise, even where deserved. I suppose you love trotting out the line that play offs were the expectation even though nobody on the board predicted we would get anywhere near it. Ya, ya Mowbray said it a while ago yada yada
  2. Ya,Saturday is going to be tricky. I looked at their home form, it's fairly ominous.
  3. So if Mulgrew is an example, why aren't you happy with him being 3rd choice here? Downing was a good find, do you recall the reaction to that signing on here? It really comes down to whether we could sign someone better than Williams or Mulgrew, for 1.3 million, in January, who was happy to sit on the bench potentially all season. Promises that you will get your chance really aren't enough.
  4. It was a pretty simple question. I would need to check, but am pretty sure your post in the prediction thread predicted a low finish? I am guessing lower than 12th. So we must be exceeding your expectations? Pretty simple really, not sure why you can't wrap your head around it.
  5. "The probabiity was we would need them before now", I would say "the reality" was that we didn't! As for "the longer view", well there is another window during the summer. We could have signed someone from lower leagues maybe ya, if they are any good though they would cost more than 1.3 million. If they are 4th choice or worse elsewhere, why would we want them as 3rd choice? It's a pity we didn't sign 1-2, but lets not pretend that it's simple to just sign a quality 3rd choice center half, who would be happy to sit on the bench for months. Loans even cost money now. I have little doubt if we paid a fee for a loan, along with wages and he still hadn't played, some on here would be saying it was money wasted.
  6. I really haven't noticed anyone making that argument. I think everyone would have liked us to make a signing. Saying we were priced out of moves for some players is hardly hypothetical, it's the market. I know you know it's not that easy to sign players. How and ever, "transfer window failure" aside. What a season, eh? Must be wildly exceeding your expectations?
  7. Ya, after selling players, in some instances. Pity we didn't get 1 or 2 in, but I would take our window over say Hulls
  8. "There's a lot of revisionism?" That's some savage hyperbole right there.
  9. Ok, so you are using hypothetical evidence above what actually happened? Why would a quality centre half have come here to sit on the bench as oppose to going and starting somewhere? The fact is he would not have played yet and may not in the foreseeable future.
  10. They still wouldn't have played a game since January
  11. We have 4 centre halves, 5 if you include Vale. I was just thinking, who worth their salt would have come here in January to sit behind Lenihan and Tosin?
  12. Johnson is the man, lets be honest!
  13. Maybe someone told him
  14. This going to be a tight one, 11 , 2-1 or 1-2 I feel. Not losing would be fantastic. Even if we do though, no need to overreact. The game is still on.
  15. It's Mowbrays team now though. His signings, his promotions from the youth set up. I don't think you can just compartmentalize what he is responsible for in a way that looks to not give him some credit, at some point!
  16. Well said. Nothing to add apart from I notice certain posters who are extremely vocal and critical when we lose, are noticeably quite when we win. You would almost think they enjoy moaning more than giving praise.
  17. You are leaving out and conveniently ignoring so many other aspects of management. I mean going back to a game against Oldham to try and downplay this season is a real leap. Going to a formation the supporters wanted? Sorry to break it to you,but he doesn't do what supporters want and to even attempt to do so would be impossible as the fan base wants different things. To say we are doing well in spite of him is ludicrous in my opinion. He's not perfect and makes mistakes, but you are going to far with that statement Can I ask, if we were doing badly, would it all be on him? I suspect it would. It's just interesting that you paint the picture that doing well now is in spite of him, yet if we were doing badly it would all be on him. I think you are gone too far down the anti Mowbray rabbit hole. You ain't the only one to be fair.
  18. Ah ok, maybe it is a technical issue so. I mean you are entitled to that opinion and me mine. Neither of us were being rude or anything. Anyway, I don't think that's fair. I mean you can't just not take into account his signings, motivation or tactics and say that we are doing well in spite of him. If we were doing badly I have no doubt it would be on Mowbray.
  19. Sound, thanks for getting back to me.
  20. Might not be in this thread, although I thought it was. 2 posts from this morning. I went into my profile and I can see the one I made about needing to keep Lenihan available , but the other two I made aren't there.
  21. Can I ask why my posts were deleted? I was responding to a poster who said we are doing well in spite of Mowbray There was another where I responded to two posters who said that Mowbray doesn't want to get promoted A response would be great, because I haven't received any reason why. Seems like biased and one sided censorship to me. Very unnecessary.
  22. I think it's worth nothing that Lenihan gets a 2 game ban if he gets one more yellow in the next 4 games. It relates then if he hasn't. I recall Smallwood surprising us all and going age without being booked one time. I will be amazed if Lenihan goes 4 games without being booked though. Mulgrew and Tosin gives me a bad feeling akin to when Mulgrew played with Rodwell. I would prefer Williams, but just about. Our season is dependant on keeping the current defence together I feel.
  23. Some shocker of a result. Can you imagine the board if Barnsley came to Ewood and won 3-0. Whatever happened Fulham. You just can't switch off against anyone
  24. I never mentioned the players, nor do I recall anyone else doing so. As for Mowbray, I don't think I'm involved in the "undercurrent" you mention ,as I'm saying it straight out.
