Championship 2018-19
Bigdoggsteel replied to Cherry Blue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
No doubt. His hold up is crucial to how we play. As is his interplay with Dack. I just think he is more replaceable than Dack or Mulgrew. The fact that not many of us would question Graham being first choice this season shows he is rebuilt his reputation big time. I actually think he has a big season in him. I'm talking similar goal figures to last season -
No, just find the moderation a bit one sided at times. Asking someone if they are ever positive about Rovers now bordering on unacceptable, apparently

Dack and Mulgrew can't be replaced, same as Barca are weaker without Messi and Real without Ramos. Graham is great, especially with his reignited motivation, but of the 3, we could manage without him the best. Ideally with the proven championship striker we sign stepping in! Or even Armstrong -
I think it is very unfair of you to associate the person who asked him if he is ever positive about Rovers with "being a dick". It was a harmless question. Are you ever positive about Rovers? He could just answer it. Bizzare that a protection party has formed, including a mod.

Deserves better? It's a forum. If he says that Birmingham are in a better place than us, he deserves to be asked the question imo
-
He is a good poster, we disagree about things, but as you say, he is always respectful and makes well thought out points. I don't think he is being overly criticized to be honest
-
We have added 3 better players than Wigan IMO. There was nothing between us and them in the league last season really. They were more familiar with the division and that stood to them, particularly early in the season. In fact, I reckon we would beat them more times than they would beat us if we played 10 games. We were better than them in both games last season. You may be right about Sheffield united and Milwall, although I think Sheffield united have done some good business. Egan is a good signing at centre half.

We are all big boys here. His posts are as open to critical analysis as anybody elses
-
That wasn't what we were discussing , but anyway... He wouldn't be my first choice this season, hopefully Davenport or Rothwell step up

We are right under the radar! -
Come on now. You go too far sometimes. Birmingham are dog shit, they have been in or around the relegation zone for the past 2 seasons and now they have been hit with a transfer embargo. What would it take for you to say a club is in a worse position than us? We have made better signings than Wigan this summer. Why would you expect us to finish ahead of Milwall, but not Wigan? Milwall came 9th in the Championship last season. Bizzare

Agree about CB, which is why Mowbray is trying to sign someone. Disagree about Evans, if there is anywhere we are well stocked ,its center midfield. We have Davenport, Travis, Rothwell, Whittingham and Bennett who can all play beside Smallwood if Evans is unavailable. How many players do you need there? Definitely need a striker or two
-
He actually tweeted that Nmecha is telling "his mates" he is off to Swansea. #sources #bitinpaper #aye
-
I wouldn't. For now he isn't out player, so what Mowbray says is fact. He couldn't be not including him in that list if we were going to sign him, needs to wait til it's official!
-
Palmee eh. Very familiar Chaddy!
-
I reckon we are just playing the waiting game with Armstrong and Chapman. We are their preferred destination. A few things will fall into place over the next few days
-
They are teasing us now!
-
Plus all the new contracts

In relation to us signing another centre half. In fairness it was glaringly the weakest area in the team last season. Lenihan back is great. We do need more competition though. Just a striker is more important....
-
Ya, if our only permanent signing before the window closes is Beevers or Bauer, that will be disappointing. I have no doubt we are trying hard to get attacking players in, hopefully the two lads sign on loan, we get Bauer and then Armstrong or another striker for a fee. I think the ship has sailed on Chapman, unfortunately. It would be strange if we don't sign players for a few quid, considering the great season we had last year, the fan positivity and the opportunity to keep the momentum going. Results are ultimately what matter, but I can understand and will feel frustrated myself if we don't make a "marquee signing" I don't think Mowbray will sign players unless he thinks they will compete to get in the team. It's a testament to his signings that Gladwin is brought up time and again as an example of one he got wrong.
-
Armstrong in would end the window on a positive note I feel. Fingers crossed
-
At this point, how many signings, loans and permanent would you need to say we had a good window? From your posts it sounds like you think it's too late already
-
I wouldn't be happy starting with just those 3 as our striking options. We have had all the window to get a striker in. We need another striker. To not get another in would be very bad imo In fact, if our biggest signing of the window is a back up centre half, that will be strange and I doubt what even Mowbray woukd have envisaged happening. Anyway, Bennett is on the media team this week. The official account just tweeted something along the lines of "busy week aged, new recruit to the media team". I like the idea of this. Really cool.
-
If we don't sign at least 1 winger or striker on a permanent deal I would say things have not gone according to plan at all this window. No point sugar coating it. Ideally we needed to sign one of each on permanent deals. It is higjy unlikely we could turn either of the loans mooted into permanent deals at some point
-
I doubt very much Mowbray said Chapman was available for cheap. I distinctly remember Mowbray saying that Pulis wants him involved in pre season to take a look at him. This would contradict saying he was available for cheap. Chapman has indeed been involved in pre season and is doing well it seems. It's stuff like this, where one poster on here says something like "Chapman was available for cheap, but Mowbray didn't do the deal!!!" Next thing it's taken up by others and repeated ad nauseum throughout the season
