  1. That can't be right. Rothwell played 36 games last season , so he must have been playing when Payne was there.
  2. Weaker from an attacking point of view alright, mostly due to Armstrong returning, but we have signed 2 additional players on permanent deals and a number of key players on long term deals. Agree?
  3. How many do we need; 12? , 19? 42? 2 wingers , a striker and a CB. I don't see what else we need personally
  4. I have absolutely no doubt that at a minimum the 3 of them will be replaced.
  5. They were 3 loan players, you are making it out like we sold them or something. Antonnsson and Payne made 18 appearances each, Paynes definitely mostly from the bench and Antonnsson about 50/50 starting and from the bench. You said "we lost 3 big players from last season". That is an exaggeration. The 3 combined contributed about as much as Dack, Graham and Mulgrew did individually. They were our big players. 2 of whom we have tied to new contracts.
  6. Lucky them that they got promoted. A lot of clubs avoid it by going up. Villa failed at that though it seems QPR didn't get off very lightly either https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/10/24/qpr-ordered-pay-world-record-40million-ffp-fine-losing-three/ Norwich City, Derby County, Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday all having to tighten their belts as well.
  7. Come on now, Antonnsson and Payne were bit part players really. Antonnsson was great early in the season, but after Xmas he never got back to where he was. How many games did Payne actually start? 3? To say "we lost 3 big players" is over exaggerating a little. The 2 of them scored 8 goals between them all season. Would you have liked if we signed Antonnsson and/or Payne? Armstrong did really well, so lets hope we can make it happen with regards to him coming back.
  8. Ya, he is pushing on a bit, but he has a great football brain and never relied on pace. He ticks the box of having Championship experience anyway, for sure...Although he spent as much time playing in the Premier league as in the Championship Just checked there, he actually played 30 times last season, so life in the old dog yet you might say Off the bench to calm a game down or to make something happen, he would be up there with anyone available on a free...
  9. I was thinking the same about Hoolihan. I think he would be the idea competition for Dack. He would put serious pressure on him to keep his standards up and has a great track record in the Championship. Unfortunately the word on the street over here is that Wigan are showing the most interest. Apparently they wanted him on trial, but he refused saying he wanted a contract. Fair play to him.
  10. I thought that's most likely. So what would you make of that?
  11. I meant by Venkys People said the same when Landsdown road was renamed the Aviva. A few still try and keep Lansdown road going, but calling it the Aviva has really creeped in
  12. I didn't come up with 30 million. It's in the article I posted. Did you even read it? They have to bring it in, so let's see. I can safely say that renaming Ewood would be met with uproar.
  13. Firstly it's Nixon, secondly you could read his tweet a few ways. He could mean we wanted to buy Armstrong or someone cheaply, but that's not likely, so maybe a loan. His twitterings are the definition of vague and cryptic. Not by accident
  14. So I believe. Was this shite pre recorded or something? Or is she just going on it because it's pretty much her job to be on this garbage? I would have a small issue if my missus went on a dating show, but maybe I'm just old fashioned
  15. They are selling them so that they won't break the rules, it's pretty simple. Pre-emptive action. If they don't do what's needed they are in toeuble. So you acknowledge they have to raise 30 million, that's not good it it? Who will sell more players before the window closes , us or villa? Would you be happy if Ewood was sponsored and renamed? Venkys already pretty much sponsor the club by putting in their own money every few months. Don't tell me it's the minimum they should do, I know that already and it's not my point.
  16. Any examples of clever accounting or stadium sponsorship? Not being smart, I just don't recall teams in the Championship doing this. Hull have a sponsored stadium name, but I think they did that when they were a Premier league club. I could be wrong on that. I don't think changing the name of Ewood would go down very well here, do you?
  17. They haven't been punished because, so far, they haven't broken the rules. Do you understand? It's in the article attached. Same as yesterday when it was explained to you how Derby had not broken the rules either. Who will sell more players before the window closes do you reckon, us or Villa?
  18. I think it is a bit of a stretch to say he succeeded at League 1 level. He played around 30 games there, mostly off the bench and has scored 3 goals. Plenty of players play underage for England do little in their careers. Chapman has a lot to prove for me. I can't see him going for much more than £500,000 , particularly with the injuries
  19. Your lack of understanding of this is exposing you time and time again. You were corrected by a number of posters on Derbys situation yesterday, now you come on here bragging that you "called it" with Villa and things were always going to be fine. They still have to raise £30 million to avoid FFP restrictions and are still in trouble. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-takeover-ffp-grealish-14935263 Any comment?
  20. Ya, a bad start and I can see Bruce being the first manager sacked. Never smoke without fire ,as you say and there was definitely something going on there with Henry
  21. Why not? He has played less first team football than Davenport and he cost roughly £500,000. Achieved nowhere near what Dack had(L1 player of the year) when we signed him for £750,000. Chapman has talent, but has played little 1st team football, is in the last year of his contract and has just come back from injury, as you point out. I don't see how he is worth anymore right now to be honest.
  22. Ya, very little Championship experience too. I would imagine Mowbray will be keen to add players with that
  23. I reckon we have round £5 million to spend, the thing with that is ;Armstrong, Chapman, Bauer and Maddison don't go into £5 million as things stand. I would bet we are trying to pay in installments or by doing the following Armstrong-£2 million Maddison-£2 million Chapman-£500,000 Bauer- £500,000 If we can pull that off, I think it would be a fantastic window. Could easily not work out though at the same time. Add Fletcher and the young lad from City on loan and that's 6 signings. Wishful thinking maybe
