10k a week is nothing for the de facto leader/manager in the dressing room at a club where there are so many young lads who might be getting ahead of themselves. I doubt he'll be on that though. Mowbray openly said out of contract players in their 30's need to realistic.

I think that's the point that has been missed. It was fairly obvious that Conway was going to get a new deal when Mowbray came out in the LT (not that way) a month or two ago and said that the team manages itself and that the most important figure in that regard in the changing room was Conway. Or words to that effect. Team spirit has been a massive factor in this seasons success as has been acknowledged by everyone at the club, and as has been obvious to anyone watching. Conway will be vital to that because it will be his job to tell people in the changing rooms to wind their necks in when needed. It could be argued that Mowbray will see Conway as his best signing this summer in a changing room full of young lads with egos..

Agreed, but I'm not sure how you stop a young lad joining Prem teams like Manure. The money these teams offer the kid's family are eye-watering by all accounts. Having a well-trodden 'pathway' to the 1st team here would help which is why having the likes of Lenihan, Nyambe and others like Travis (potentially) as regulars is so important to the club. On that note it will be interesting to see how Mahoney and the lad who went to Leicester fare over the next few seasons. They might have been better off in the long run staying at Rovers.

Sterling and especially Sane are out and out wingers, they aren't 'wide forwards' which is the term Mowbray used to describe using the likes of Gallagher, Samuel, Antonsson and Armstrong. Rich Sharpe made suggestion in the LT recently that Mowbray would perhaps be looking at more traditional wingers this summer. Sharpe gets a slagging on here but he is rarely wrong, mainly because he gets his info from sources in the club. The Dylan McGeough stuff has died a death since he said it was 'wide of the mark'.

Payne was moved out wide by Oxford before he came to us and the Oxford fans said he couldn't play wide. They were right. I read Walsall fans saying the same about Ozhumer. Again they are probably right as he's too small and weak to play out there. Ozhumer would only be back up to Dack unless Mowbray can turn him into a ball playing CM, or Mogga goes with two No.10's and 3 at the back as some people think he wants to.

I think that's exactly what it is. If the away team fill one half of the lower tier and then sell another 500 tickets the club can just shove them in the other half of the lower tier. If they still had home fans in the lower tier they'd need to shove them upstairs which means more bar staff, also cleaning staff and stewards between the two lower tiers...and potentially some police. However, no employee of the club is going to admit it is a cost cutting exercise when it also being done for (entirely logical) logistical reasons.

You could have said that about Dack this time last year. Having seen Otzumer at Ewood this season he looked even smaller and weaker than Payne and didn't really get a sniff. He was playing in a poor team though. On a free it may be worth a gamble.
