Agree with Matty, it's about not having to cater for 300 people in a part of a stand that holds 2500, it's not about the support other clubs will bring. I think it's the right idea but the club should have had the decency to email ST holders in the DE and explain the decision. The JWL sounds like a good idea though, and you'll be closer to the away fans than you all were when you stood in the top corner of the DE, about as far away from the away fans as you could get without ending up in the river -
It does. Thanks. That just leaves the issue of how much they have made out of transfers and what has happened to that money. It's probably not more than £40m but if that money has been used to finance the debt then that can be deducted from their 'investment', or to give it's correct term, debt repayments. Still, it's a very expensive hobby, and as has been said before the only way they will get any of that back is to finance a push for the Prem and get all the filthy SKY lucre. If they sell up they are essentially throwing all that money away because they wouldn't get ten bob for a club with that level of debt I wouldn't have thought.

The £250m was mentioned by Phil L in the podcast. I didnt make it up! He phrased it as 'quarter of a billion'. Without listening to it again he may have said the venky's have so far put £250m into the club. He also said (I think) if they are putting money into the club as shares then they won't be able to get it back out. I have no idea what that means? Any idea?

Ban people who link The S*n.

He always pops up after the event to tell people to stop worrying about things he hadn't got a clue whether he should have been worrying about or not. If he could think for himself he'd be dangerous.....

FFS!

ToMo is certainly putting the emphasis on supporters taking responsibility for supporting their own club. I agree entirely...with the caveat that the club has to make it financially viable for everyone who wants to support their club to be able to do so.

Listen to the last but one podcast. @Herbie6590 and @philipl are on there explaining it. TBF I was none the wiser by the end of it, which is probably due to my lack of knowledge on the exciting world of accountancy! However, we are apparently now £250m in debt, or at least that was a figure being bandied about on the podcast. here's the thread

http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/scmp.php - In League 1 clubs can spend a maximum of 60% of their turnover on wages - Where a club is on course to exceed the limits, the Football League will apply a Transfer Embargo. Crucially, a club doesn't have to overspend to incur the embargo, it only needs to shown to be heading for an overspend. However, crucial point:- However the Football League use a broader definition of Turnover. Crucially, the FL Turnover figure includes donations from the owners to the club and injections of equity. Loans from club owners are understandably not included in the Turnover figure as these would result in growing club debts. up club debts. In League 1 and League 2, a wealthy owner can therefore fund the club spending in a way that is not permitted in other divisions. Because SCMP doesn't rely on the retrospective scrutiny of club accounts, it is also extremely effective at stopping overspend before the spending actually occurs (something that has been a problem for the Championship's version of FFP).
-
How is all this affected by the fact that the most recent season (17/18), the third season in the cycle, we were governed by completely different rules. Surely the owners just say that the League 1 losses will be covered by a 'gift' from them?
-
I'm not saying you're right or wrong about the sponsorship thing, it's a while since I looked at the FFP thing so I don't know. It's just that under SCMP rules the owners can gift as much as they like to the club and it has no effect on compliance with FFP rules. In the Championship the rules are different, it's FFP proper. I just can't see how we can have fallen foul of these proper FFP rules when we've just had a season in a division where those rules don't apply.
-
I think you may be getting SCMP and FFP mixed up. SCMP only applies in League 1 and 2.

We had a small loss last season, this season we were under SCMP rules, so not sure how in a 3 year period we would fall foul of FFP? http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/16194681.Steve_Waggott__Rovers_budget_plans_to_be__fleshed__out_in_India_trip/ This one from last week.

Great idea. Keep us updated on how many you think might go in there. And again the club missed a massive chance to get more young lads to games (who normally sing) by not having reduced U25 tickets like other clubs. -
LOL. Lenny only played about ten games. Nyambe played all season and has been excellent. If you don't think he offers anything going forward you don't go to matches. I thought the same at the beginning of the season but he has come on leaps and bounds this season. This from the LT today in the players ratings:- Ryan Nyambe 8 (MOM) Back in the side after injury and can be pleased with his display. Got forward regularly and his athleticism is a real positive. Made one brilliant block from Obika shortly before Oxford leveller. Richey Sharpe is an excellent reporter and a good judge in my opinion. He knows the game.

Good thing about this summer is that Mowbray doesn't have lots of players who offer nothing taking up a chunk of the wage bill. There are a few that we could do to get rid of but I doubt they are on big money as the wage bill is only £8.5m. Caddis and Whittingham are two I think we can do without but beyond that you could make a case for most other first-teamers staying.
-
Nonsense. If our midfield had been poor all season we wouldn't have got 96 points.
-
Nyambe will start the season at RB. He's been excellent this season. Bennett is wasted at RB. He's all-action, closes people down etc and stops them playing. He's far more suited to midfield.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2018/may/07/cardiff-not-liked-neil-warnock-promotion-premier-league Cardiff's 'outstanding candidate' has done a fine old job. it will be good to see him pissing off a few of the Prem managers. -
In my opinion if he is on his game Smallwood is easily good enough for the Championship. Evans too has shown signs of returning to the player who 1st joined us. I certainly think we need 1 new CM to provide competition and you'd hope everyone we sign this summer is better thsn what we've already got. That may be tricky on a small budget in positions like Dacks but there are areas we can definitely improve.
