He was but he said the right things. 'Rovers are a big club' etc 'It's an honour to be here' etc.
-
Coyle used to say all the right things but you always knew it was just flannel and PR. Mowbray is no Coyle. He is everything that the likes of Coyle will never be. Mowbray is a rare breed for a football manager in the respect that he's both open and honest. He doesn't just say it because the fans want to hear it, it always comes from the heart with him. He reminds me a little of Dalglish in that respect.

https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2018/march/paton-pens-pro-deal/ Anyone seen this guy play? Any good? He looks delighted to have signed...or maybe Tony just dropped one when he bent forward.

Dreadful header of a ball. He must have missed 5 or 6 clear cut heading chances earlier in the season when he was a regular.
-
He has lost a bit of pace but he just doesn't look confident to me. Injuries may have taken their toll too. He was brought in by Bowyer to do a specific job which was to put the ball on Rhodes and Rudy's head which he did superbly. He doesn't have that option now so his effectiveness has been diluted somewhat. He's an out-and -out winger and we just don't play that way anymore and we rarely have anyone in the box to head it anyway besides Graham. Very few work harder than him though so he's good to have around. For the money we spent on him he's been a brilliant signing overall.

Absolutely. Downing is getting worse by the week.

Smallwood, stunning winner at Fleetwood notwithstanding, has certainly had a dip in form since the Shrewsbury game. Same with Dack. It had to happen at some point. We need others to step up until they hit form again.
-
Disagree there. He's as good on the ball as Smallwood.

Did they play the goal music on Saturday? I genuinely can't remember. It made me chuckle when after the impeccably observed minutes applause a big roar went up as it always does after those minutes applause/silence events, only to be instantly drowned out by the guy on the tannoy telling everyone to 'get behind the lads'. When he'd finished rambling the ground was silent.

@JAL will be humming that all day. Good work.

And Smallwood added: “Benno, that’s how he plays, a bit like me but with more intensity and more speed really. It’s nice to have a partner in there who can do that, I know the others can do that but Benno has adjusted well in the last couple of weeks and long may it continue.” http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/15893325.Rovers_midfielder_Richie_Smallwood_on_why_looming_suspension_won_t_change_his_approach_to_the_game/?ref=mac Honesty from Smallwood, then he realised and quickly added the bit in bold Roughly translated as 'I've been carrying this midfield all season, please leave Bennett there, I'm knackered. Evans and Whittingham don't even run'. Well said King Richard.

When Bergkamp signed a new contract at Arsenal there was 'Wenger's Wonga Makes Bergy Linger Longer' and when ICT beat the hoops 'Super Cally go ballistic, Celtic are atrocious'. The only two good things The S*n ever did. -
If I may be so bold:- ?Aaaaa-maaarrri....woah oh...? ?Aaaaa-maaarrri....woah oh...? He came from Highberee To play for Mowberee

I didn't realise he had such success as a manager. From Wiki:- Not long after hanging up his boots, Armfield became manager of Bolton Wanderers in 1971, leading them to promotion to the Second Division in the 1972–73 season as Third Division champions. On 4 October 1974, Armfield took the helm at Leeds United, replacing Brian Clough as manager, leading them to the European Cup Final in the 1974–75 season in which they lost 2–0 to Bayern Munich.[9] Assisted by Don Howe, Armfield was responsible for rebuilding Don Revie's ageing but still formidable side, a task which he achieved with some success. Armfield bought in players such as Tony Currie and Brian Flynn, and under his stewardship Leeds never finished outside of the top ten, qualified for the UEFA Cup,[10] and reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 1976–77 and the League Cup in 1977–78.[2]
