Have to say on this occasion if he stays that we put it behind us asap. Get him in the squad and see what happens in the summer. The lad obviously paniced and felt a 3/4 year deal on very good money was too good to turn down. Time was ticking on a move too. I'd play him and wouldn't boo given what's at stake this season. Understand if others feel different and are entitled to hold the grudge. Also it's time to throw our weight around a bit, we haven't been this attractive in a long time we are second on the table and have a very good chance at premier League football. Time to bully some of the other clubs in the league and take some of their prize assets. We've had it done to us for years. The board and Waggott for playing hard ball on the wages front and clearly upsetting players by undervaluing them and lack of planning. Finally Joe himself has conducted himself very poorly. There is obviously the appeal of more money but there is a way of doing it without completely staining your character.

Exactly my thoughts when thinking who could possibly do similar to Joe and cannot think or anyone. He's a real talent and really fear losing him. Those that criticise his stays surely recognise he gets up up the pitch with his driving runs and pace. He makes other teams set up different to try stop him. He's a joy to watch imo.

Can't pretend I'm anything but gutted about this situation. The timing of it is the main reason but also I think Rothwell is class. Doesn't matter what he's done in previous seasons, it matters what he has done this season, the biggest season for a decade. He's fits the system perfect, he's not as inconsistent as some are trying to make out. Would teams be in for him if he was? He's 27 and is entering his prime and of course he could play in the Premier League. Easy to rewrite history but plenty of players that moved to the premier League or were promoted to it at his age and became main stays. Can't let my football opinion of Rotherll cloud my personal opinion, it's bad form. It's shady and leaves a bad taste.
