An almighty balls-up if Mowbray thinks that defensive set up will do anything other than ship soft goals. If we go with that, I sincerely question his sanity.

How times have changed. This is how it feels to be Burnley. This is how it feels to be small. This is how it feels when your club's doing nothing at all.
-
Yet we happily overlook this when it's Travis ?
-
No, at Rovers that probably means another midfielder ?
-
Totally agree ?

Yes. He's a limited Johnny sideways.

I feel for Smallwood in that he is subject to such ridicule but did a cracking job for us in the promotion campaign. Don't get me wrong, we need to upgrade him but he is a sturdy squad man to be honest, certainly nothing daring or spectacular but a pretty reliable 6/10 man. I feel that it is becoming OTT regarding people judging his character (as though he is simply someone stealing a paycheck). That's all in their angry imaginations. If we gave him a contract, pay the man I say. All he can do is what he is doing, head down, train hard and wait for his chance. He is proud to wear our shirt, that should be respected.

They can't write it off to gain anything personally. It is real capital of theirs that has moved from A to B. All in, the Venkys are down to the tune of around £200m - that's why the bullshit 'conspiracy theories' have ebbed away because it has finally dawned that the V's have invested in the club, albeit very badly. They clearly aren't taking money out of the club, what they have wasted far exceeds what they could cash in on and at this point and without a doubt, we need them to foot the bills.

Me too. Like under Bowyer, we could and should be challenging for the top 6. We have the firepower, we should have shored up the defence. There's still time but I'm not hopeful at all but you never know. TM needs to quit this pissing around with Bennett at RB, Mulgrew in the middle and the utterly useless Bell at LB. It says a lot when Williams is a surer bet at CB, he's bog-standard at best but far steadier than Charlie.

Now linked with Panathinaikos.

No room for Tosin and Beevers at Ewood, it's a family club.

The song the players run out to at Ewood

I feel it perfectly captures my blood pressure and disappointment when we consider soft goals from simple crosses. -
Which fills me with dread. This club needs experience, it's not the place for someone to cut their teeth.

After his serious heart scare, Sam wanted out of Rovers the previous summer so that he could take over Al Ahli and was really angry at JW for not releasing him. A few months later and after the takeover, he was a goner. I don't think he is out of our league because we wouldn't pay compensation on him and Sam loves a short term challenge. I don't think it would help that he likes to have a percentage of outgoing transfer fees attached to his bonuses though - I doubt that went down well with the V's when they took over but if he can turn rough diamonds into gems, I have no issue with it.
-
I think the issue is that he's had 3 months to upgrade Mulgrew and identify that Bennett is not, or never will be a RB. He hasn't done this and this has been the most obvious chink in our armour. I hope he wakes up and replaces them asap because by October, many more will be on his back and it'll cost him a shot at the play offs and his job.

The worrying thing for me is, the amount of people who think Damien Johnson is the instant answer. For all of Mowbray's infuriating decision making regarding his selections, the elephant in the room does remain - the Venkys. TM clearly cares for the club, does bring a calmness and organisation to the whole club (clearly not the defence though!) and not just anyone can cope with our club. We've done the inexperienced route and it doesn't work here anymore. If we are after organisation, quick success on a shoestring, consistent results and dealing with wacky owners, then the right man is out there and available. Who knows, he'd possibly even take the job up because one of the main sets of criteria for him is a commute from home and keeping the wife happy. They foolishly sacked him once already but if they genuinely want promotion, Big Sam's the man.
-
In a nutshell, Bell is shit. He doesn't get close enough to his man and the time it takes him to figure out what to do, the damage gets done. He also does that pub league jump and turn in the air to half-heartedly block the ball. I'm more of a Stephen Warnock, smash into to them early so they know what they'll get for 90mins - kind of fan.
-
The whole Championship can see we are dopey at the back and target our defence asap. This lad from City better be the 2nd coming of Jesus or something special because we need him.

Maybe if they cherry pick from below the Championship, if they fail to make X amount of appearances above that level in a given time, they must loan out for free? -
That is my main criticism of Mowbray. How he can overlook the obvious in Rothwell and stick with a bland formula. As a wild guess, that alone cost us about 10 - 15 points last season. That lad is our shining light - energetic, direct and causes havoc.
-
I think management choice is much to blame for that. We had the squad under Bowyer and we'd had the chance to sign Neil Warnock. We'd have been right up there under him.
-
I think he was too busy with his biography. Currently penning the chapter on Mowbray's terrible man-management and how an injured Dominic Samuel stunted his development.
