Vivid dreams came to me when prescribed tramadol for pain management, prior to a hip replacement .... actually played for England at Twickenham, belted out the National Anthem like anything, Mrs " Sympathetic Claret " & parents beaming down from the stands ... lovely !

My GP, an old mate, rang to see how I was getting on, and I duly reported this apparently common side effect ... " Do you want me to try you with an alternative painkiller ? "

" No thanks, Doc, I'm waiting for my three in a bed session with Cheryl Ladd & Catherine Bach ( Daisy Duke ), once I've had that dream, I'll get back to you ! " 😉

    Nothing cheesy then?

Have they sorted out the traffic jams around Torrevieja yet ?

I don’t go up there much to be honest. I live in a little traditional Spanish town called Almoradi. It’s very quiet and no problems with the traffic.

Its mainly summer when you have traffic problems in Torrevieja, especially round the big shopping complex at La Zenia.

My mate has bought a holiday home near there and he flies over this week. He is a season ticket holder at Ewood, so a big fan and will be nice to watch the game with him.

  3. It’s been on my mind for weeks this, as I am sure is the case with lots of Rovers fans. I am quite happy to give up on the Hammers game, which for me is a one off, as if Rovers are playing tiddlywinks I want us to win.

I am a huge Adam Wharton fan and with him and Scot being local lads, think both should start. I am convinced Adam will shine and can see him getting man of the match and hope like hell, he scores the winner and does a jig in front of the longside.

I will be watching from Torrevieja with a mate and know it is going to be a tense affair for us and will be happy to share what this game means, if there are any Spanish locals around who want to join us.
Given that my business partner is a Dingle and my Rovers mad son works for us, Monday should be interesting on the Banter stakes.

My head tells me differently, but my heart says 1-2 with young Adam scoring the winner close enough to full time, to ensure my heart is given a rest from the rapid beating it has had to endure, during our recent narrow victories when parking the bus has been the order of the day.

Whatever happens, I hope all Rovers fans have a safe trip and everyone at the game remembers we are all passionate fans of our proud clubs and none of the passion spills over into anything stupid.

Enjoy the day and let’s show the football world how big this derby really is.

Thanks to crappy RoversPlayer I missed the first 15 and that was supposed to be our only half decent spell from what I could see.

The first 15 was very open, a bit like two boxers full of energy looking to land a big blow. Had the Brittain chance been taken, it was a different game. After that chance, we were poor and once we went behind, we did our usual. No idea how to come from behind and we need to sort that out somehow.

Hope we have played the last horror show game for a while, as I think the Dingles away game will either leave us very flat or very buoyed for a month.

We have to be realistic. If someone like City, Utd etc offered him £100,000 a week and rising, he's off, like we all would. All we can hope for is that he plays well for us for the next 3/4 years and helps us to promotion and we then get a hefty transfer fee for him, hopefully to spend.

The key to keeping him as long as possible is periodic revisits of the contract.

    Definitley.

This situation once again brings the governance of the EFL into question. In the recent past they have awarded a victory to Ipswich when, for reasons I can't remember Bolton couldn't fulfil a fixture. Great we thought, at last the EFL baring their teeth and punishing clubs proportionate to the offence. But the allowing of Coventry to call off three games this season and potentially our game on Tuesday has shown them in their true light.

The Bolton V Ipswich game was called off due to no safety certificate being in place. Ken Anderson was up to all sorts of tricks at the time and despite being the owner, he was pleading poverty. Staff not being paid and all sorts of other bills being held back, but he was taking money himself and paying his son too.

That or injuries. I have a terrible feeling we'll be a bit threadbare by the Burnley match.

On his day though Adam Wharton could dominate any midfield. Sadly I can't see him being thrown into the cauldron of hate at his age.

I can and I will be very disappointed if he doesn't start.

  8. If the players are as up for it, as the fans, we should certainly have a chance. Given the local lads, especially the Wharton brothers, it should make it an even more special occasion.

It already has me feeling the butterflies, just reading the last few posts, so bring it on and let's get the BR EXIT EMENT done.

Thats very true but Simon Garner  initially scored a few goals.....Then lost is way and then came back  towards the end of the promotion year ..ie Chesterfield away ..

Absolutely and I am not suggesting for one minute the same will happen with Vale, but we need to have a bit of patience and give him a chance. So far, we have seen plenty come through the system and perform well in the first team. hopefully we have another, as I love nothing more than seeing these young lads make it.

I think pony is putting it a bit strongly. But there's no doubt that he's struggled to make an impact on the (admittedly few) league games that he has played in. Some nice touches in here and there, but usually I've come away thinking that he's not been able to get in the game.

Maybe more first team experience will do him the world of good, but as was mentioned on another thread, he turns 22 this season, so he can't really be judged as a young lad for too much longer.

I'm not suggesting he will be anything like, but many will remember similar comments about Simon Garner, before he broke into the team properly. We came very close to selling him and it was only him insisting that he stayed and fought for a place that stopped the sale going through.

It is amazing how some things turn out, given a bit of patience.

Even after multiple slo-mo’s from different angles, I wasn’t entirely sure if he’d made contact with the ball, made contact with the player, or the player made too much of it. Shouldn’t be giving penalties when it’s absolutely not clear in real time what happened.

I thought the Sky pundits were a bit OTT on it and seemed anti Rovers for some reason, most of the night.

Watching in a bar in Quesada, Costa Blanca. Overall, a good win but that last 30 mins was hard work. We just couldn’t get the ball and keep possession. Oh for a Gordon Cowans in midfield to settle us   Down and orchestrate things.

You were watching very near me then. Almoradi, Costa Blanca.

It’s a really difficult case to make when you look at the managers who have got promoted out of the Championship in recent years. The majority have done it in their first season.

Very few have taken more than 2 full seasons in charge and those that are the exception tend to have yo-yo’d, or in the case of Wilder, brought the team up from league one.

”Patience” and “slow build” might sound nice and rational, but there’s very little evidence to suggest that it leads to promotion. Mowbray is a prime example - he was never going to take us up.

In most cases, I would argue it is a self - preservation exercise, as in it buys me more time that I otherwise might have.

I wonder how many managers, would state that they need X number of seasons to achieve the goals that the interviewer asks them what they can achieve and what they have to offer?

  14. Great for the feel good factor that. The penalty seemed to settle us down, as I thought we were nervous before that.

Morton was much better today and I thought Szmodics was much improved too. Great to see him score. Also that Brereton looked sharp again and Travis had a far better game too.

League looks right and despite our short comings, we are in the mix.
