I can claim to have seen Tony Field play for 4 different clubs - Southport, Rovers, Sheffield United and New York Cosmos.

Brilliant. I was asked today, which other Rovers player was Field most like. I can’t think of anyone, in the same mould, can you?

    Thanks for the reply.

    A couple of clarifications.

Burnley is not a city. It is a shithole from medieval times.

    Rovers are a big club.

I don’t think Lord Baltimore needs convincing. Town & City is very confusing in Spanish, as they refer to everything as Pueblo or Ciudad. I have it in my head (probably wrongly) that ciudad is more like a City & Pueblo, more like a town.

So Burnley es un Pueblo lleno de Brujas, y mierda, will have to do.

Perhaps, but I didn't get that sense.  I think they were laughing more at the "hate each other to the death" (se odian a muerte).  I don't get a sense the panelists are familiar enough with English geography, rivalries,  the Championship and "minor" Premiere league teams to find it amusing that Rovers rivals play at a higher league.  But i may be wrong.

That’s exactly what I though and what I posted on here, yesterday. Thanks for clarifying.

    Todo bien?

I just saw this.  Let me see....

So the reporter at Ewood park is just relaying basic info on Rovers to the people in the studio (and wider audience), they ask about the BB shirt he is holding, was there a store, how much was it (size XXXL, only one left in store as UK$70 BB Rovers shirts have all sold out).  He points to the Rovers emblem and explains the importance of the red rose.

Beginning min 16:10..."Rovers was the champion of the Premiere League, something very few small clubs have done.  This is a very small club.  The 'clasico'/derby bor Rovers with with Burnley, which is the neighboring city.  They hate each other to the death, I was told by the Rovers press chief [a little chuckle from the studio].  Burnley is in the Premiere, Blackburn is in the Championship, therefore they're down below.  They're struggling.  It's true, they're struggling a lot."  He then goes on to relay his attempts to obtain the sold out Brereton shirt with his face on the Chile flag and was given the only shirt they had left which is 5 sizes too big and he'll find someone to gift it to.

A better translation than mine, (Spanish is my second language) but I thought I had better reply quickly, as the poster thought, the guys in the studio, were laughing at the fact that Burnley are higher than us, just now.

He mentions the Bastards at 16:16 and then says they are in the Prem and Rovers are in the Championship. The fella in  the studio laughs. I demand to know why he laughed before a diplomatic incidence is declared. Can @LordBaltimore translate please😉

He refers to el Classico (the derby) and states that we hate Burnley to death, as that’s our Classico. That’s the bit I think is found funny, rather than the fact that they are in the prem and we are in the championship. For a couple of Chilean nationals, the concept of Rovers hating Burnley, is probably quite amusing.

Only because Dack got injured when the West Brom move was in the pipeline.

His fee was invested upfront Mowbray all but admitted as much in one interview floating about back then.

Be careful, I once got severely slated, for saying exactly that.

And so it begins....Marcelo Bielsa and his Leeds United are looking at BB.  There are sure to be a lot of rumors about Premiere League teams eyeing Brereton.  Bielsa has the ability to work miracles and make his players not only better athletes but better human beings as well.  For BB, nothing would be better than being coached by Bielsa [and for the Chilean national team as well].  Whether it is better for Rovers is another question.  Offloading someone for whom Rovers overpaid and who doesnt seem to fit into Mowbray's system may not be such a bad thing.  But i have a hard time seeing Bb play for Bielsa.  I like the guy vut he's a bit of a stiff [log, as we say in Spanish.].

I’ve got a stiff log thinking about a sale to a premier league club. I can’t see it to be honest though.

Great!  Cursewords & expressions translate poorly, even within the languages [no other spanish speakers use "culiao" besides chileans] so no one of course took offense to this or took it personally.  He doesnt know what he is saying.  It's like teaching a child to curse.  It's the innocence that makes it cute, funny, and endearing.  He is not learning Spanish, he is learning Chilean and there is a HUGE difference.

Chileans value that he is cursing in chilean.  Curse words and chilean slang will aide Ben Diez in bonding further with his team mates & endears him even further to a chilean public that already loves him.

When I was first learning Spanish, the teacher did bring up on a regular basis the differences at times, between the South American Spanish and the traditional Spanish. It was interesting to know how some of it did differ so much.

Little words such as Olives for example are completely different, but the scary bit is getting a none offensive word, mixed up with offensive ones and there are several examples of that.

    All good fun I guess.

My favourite by the way is es la leche, where the literal translation and the meaning in a certain context, are poles apart.

Chileans have taken to & latched on to BB in large part because the ship that is chilean international football has been steadily sinking into mediocrity since 2015.  Chile failed to qualify for the 2018 WC by the thinnest of margins.  Chile's stars of its so-called "golden generation" no longer shine.  There is no new blood or truly talented young players.  The fillers aiding Alexis Sánchez in attack have sucked.  And along comes this giant piece of stiff English wood.  So Chileans have clung to it as you would to avoid drowning.

I think chileans have gone off the rails and over inflated BB's potential, which is unfair to him.  They dont know how mediocre he's been in the Championship and have pinned too many of their hopes on this shiney new object but such is the desperation of the chilean fan.  Which is why chile's uruguayan coach Lasarte has attempted to temper expectations and warned fans BB still has a long learning curve in front of him.

I can’t remember the year now, but Chile did field a decent side in one World Cup. I think a player called Salah, caught the eye, if my memory serves me properly.

Tengo mucho anos, ahora, so quizas no!!
