  1. I can't help but think of Myles Anderson, when I read this. I hope Balaji isn't on Sky Sports news any time soon, crying that this guy was hounded out by the fans, without being given a chance, as he is good enough for any premier league team, bar the top four!!!

  2. Its a pointless exercise calling the National Radio stations. I once called Talk **** after we had beaten Sunderland at home and moved out of the bottom 3 briefly. They hardly let me get my point across about King Rat and his management. I stated that I would guarantee relegation and the presenters were gushing about him and blaming the fans for the abuse he was getting.  They were insisting that he was doing a good job in the circumstances and would keep us up. I don't recall them calling me back to apologise, after we did go down as I predicted.

I know that everybody is on the side of Forest Green Rovers (a third of their name is superb, after all), but aren't they a bit stupid to believe future promises from a club that is in financially dire straits? "I'll get you the money, just give me time!". Anderson is clearly not a man of his word, but I think it's naive in the first place for FGR to deal with them on this basis.

They probably are a bit at fault and possibly stupid too, but who knows what has gone on behind the scenes? I did read something about Dale Vince trying to keep the lad, as he was their top scorer, but his head had been turned and it was the last day of the loan window. I guess it is the usual, money talks, the grass is greener and all that, but on this occasion, dark forces appear to have been at work. I also think he was near the end of his contract too, so could have gone for nothing in the summer.

My God, that sounds very unfair, particularly on the player. Is it all down to finances , or did they just not fancy him? Amateur hour

It seems to be all down to finances. Anderson has said it was agreed that the first instalment would be made on the receipt of some central TV funds in January. Dale Vince the FGR chairman, says that simply isn't true and also says he has had to pay the lads wages as Bolton haven't. I don't think the player has torn up any trees, but for what they have paid for him, is steady enough

Surely the Bolton owner would have known that there was going to be little to no chance of them affording £1 million+ on a single player given their troubles. Makes me wonder if the whole thing was a deliberate stunt.

I think it was 4 instalments of £250k some possibly based on certain outcomes, avoiding relegation and a number of goals perhaps. I am guessing there, but whatever has happened the poor lad himself has apparently signed up for a house in the Bolton area and been promised much bigger wages then he was on. If it was a deliberate stunt, it is a bad one. There are some other things came out of it too, with Bolton fans being invited to a Forrest Green Home game with Bury in Feb and the Chairman has been selling Bolton fans T Shirts with the words No Ken do printed on them. It is quite funny actually some of the stuff on the Bolton News Website, a real war of words between them.

Seems like a pretty dodgy character Ken Anderson.

Can someone explain to me what is going on with Bolton and Forrest Green? I have seen tweets on twitter from both clubs, but I don't understand what happened

Bolton loaned a striker called Doidge from Forrest Green on a loan to buy deal, same as Brereton with us. It was a deal worth up to £1m apparently. According to what was reported, Bolton didn't pay his wages for the last 4 months, so Forrest Green had to pay them. Then this week, they were due to pay the first instalment of the fee and didn't pay that either. After that the owner of Bolton Ken Anderson and the Forrest Green Chairman, got into a war of words about it, and the player has now returned to Forrest Green, who are now threatening breach of contract. All sorts of allegations have followed and there is a fair bit about it on the Bolton News website. Looks like Bolton are in big trouble and have two winding up orders currently served on them one from HMRC.

  7. I loved those days and it didn't matter that we were skint or failed to get promoted to the top flight. When I look back at old programmes now, or old pictures, the nostalgia washes over me and I long for that feeling of spirit and togetherness. I might just be getting old, but it just doesn't feel like that any more.

Certainly looks that way...but there is so much information that is unknown and hidden.

Enjoying the moment but with some anxiety that it could all be dismantled in an instant....from afar.

The silence is till deafening, despite this unexpected spending spree. I never for one minute, expected us to spend £6m plus on a player this season. we still have no idea of what is happening with the debt and what ambitions Venkys now have. I do wonder if something has happened in the background that we have as fans haven't heard about.

  9. Sorry for the intrusion on this guys, hopefully I can be forgiven!! My sister has made the post below on Facebook and I would be really grateful, if anyone could help me by signing this. One of her fellow cancer sufferers has set the petition up.

Hi everyone.  Please will you help me by signing and sharing this petition.  I am 55 years old, married with 2 teenage daughters and have terminal lung cancer. I have been treated with pembrolizumab for 18 months. My cancer has been stable whilst on this treatment and I have absolutely no side effects whatsoever (unlike chemotherapy).  Unfortunately my treatment will stop in December. There is no clinical reason for this.  It is all down to NHS funding, however, if I had skin cancer I could get this treatment indefinitely. This just seems so unfair.

    Thanks for your help.

Another injection of cash into Venkys London Limited as share capital according to Companies House. As with previous injections this will no doubt have been passed straight through to the football club as an interest free loan.

This injection is £4.750m following injections of £3.625m in March  and £4.700m in January.

Total cash cost to the Raos since September 2017 is £13.075m.

It makes you wonder, how long this can continue for? Will something eventually have to give?

  11. All clubs have this done to them, as it is just a fact of life after the Bosman ruling. Charlton have a problem, as they now have a player, whose head has been turned and now wants to leave. There is one thing for sure, he will be gone, before the transfer window closes. Hopefully it will be to us and I see a small adjustment in what we have offered, with add ons and he will be our player.

It'a amazing (and an indictment on the quality of the Championship) that they stayed up last season in all honesty.

Bolton's chairman is blaming the players (whilst admitting he's ignoring the amounts they're entitled to in their contracts) and saying they'll be punished. Can't see that ending well.

I think Ken Anderson, is a chancer, who blames everyone, but himself, when things go wrong. I can see them having some serious problems this year. Last year was bad enough.

Chapman tweeted a pic of his passport with the comment "Austria bound". Got excited there, but turns out Boro are off there this weekend

I have heard that Chapman was due to have a meeting with Mowbray a couple of weeks ago, but for some reason it didn't happen.

Cardiff had a far better squad, Mangala (5m), Zahore rated at 8-10 million. Morrison, Gunnarsson, Bennett, Pilkington, Hoilett he has got firing since stepping in at Cardiff.

Completley agree with your post though by and large our squad is complete fodder at this level and needs urgent investment, Rotherham and Bolton, maybe Wigan, Ipswich and Millwall might finish below us, after that I'm struggling

Villa could be in for a torrid time too, so maybe we can stay fairly safe?

  15. Its a long time ago and he is ex Burnley, but a personal friend of mine, albeit a fair bit older than me and in bad health these days. Brian Pilkington has one England cap to his name and by all accounts was an absolute Wizard on the left wing. I didn't see Brian play, but he won the league title with Burnley in 1960 and I have been with him many times, when people have said he is the best player they ever saw. The best example I can give of that, is one night at a Sportsman's dinner with him Frank Worthington was the quest speaker. He was almost kissing Brian's feet, saying how he walked miles to watch him play. On the strength of being a mate of Brian's, Worthington gave me a lift from the function at Chorley to my home at the time, in Bolton and insisted on dropping me right at my front door.

Parachute cash used to be spread over 4 years when we got it. On that basis Fulham might have been in their final season of it this year, but in the 3 years before that they'd had one play-off campaign and 2 bottom half campaigns. Likewise Cardiff were relegated 4 years ago this summer so potentially were in receipt of some money but their spending dried up years ago.

But yeah, in this seasons top 12 only Villa, Middlesbrough and possibly Fulham/Cardiff had parachute income. Wolves, Derby, PNE, Millwall, Sheff Utd, Brentford and Bristol City didn't get any.

Bottom half Sunderland, Hull, Norwich and possibly Reading/QPR all got parachute dosh and it got them nowhere.

It has to be the greedy unmotivated players, who are still picking up a large wedge that creates the problems for these teams. Once relegated, if the players on big money with little or no drop in salary, feel like they can't be bothered any more, their club has a big problem. It is surprising how many clubs have dropped out of the big league and failed to make it back and I think that missing out on an instant return, creates huge problems. I see trouble at Hull and Villa this coming season, but we shall see.
