  1. Will probably favour the Blades but seems we have cast a wide net in our search for a new GK. Unless we want two......
  2. Source? Seen links from a few days ago but anything fresh?
  3. His agent will have contacted clubs with a prospective cost so I don't think Nicko's story changes anything. Looks like people are jumping the gun here as well; he's not Christ the redeemer. He's in the same bracket of goalkeepers as Wahlstedt, cost-wise, so be careful not to expect too much.
  4. From £800k to £1.250 is an extra 53% on top of our offer. We'll meet in the middle somewhere, but if we're to pay everyone's asking price all the time then we would end up being ripped off. Perfectly normal with a little negotiations. He won't be ready for the first match anyway, and one would think we have options here.
  5. If it is a pretty one then we should see some good loanees come in towards the end of the window.
  6. JDT's decision to leave Kaminski out of the team after his injury is possibly the most puzzling thing he did under his spell here. Probably cost us the play-off spot. Does Friedel have a son?
  7. Pears is bad but at times our defenders didn't do enough to protect their goalkeepers. He has improved his kicking and shot stopping but gets muscled out and is easily bullied, and therefore lacks the presence needed. Hopefully de Lange is an improvement over Wahlstedt but the highlight reel wasn't too reassuring in that sense.
  8. You finally found someone you could beat in a sprint!
  9. I think Weimann will feature quite a lot. He's got tenacity and is a real workhorse for the team.
  10. Tbf everyone besides Szmodics struggled last season. Thought Carter looked good after a few games back and has more pace than our other CBs. Can also carry the ball out and has experience as RB as well. People mentioning Pickering in a three-back line should remember how many aerial duels he loses and what a liability he is on that front. I’m hoping we do so well that we will say in May what a waste it was to sign McFadz as he hardly got on the pitch, but it’s a bit McDreamy I suppose.
  11. Hope we try for Andrea’s Schjelderup from Benfica on loan. Good Norwegian prospect.
  12. Carter and Hyam is a solid enough partnership to kick off the new season with but both struggled with injuries last season. Carter was a big miss last year and has the potential for PoTS.
  13. Szmodics is going, I have no doubt in my mind about it. They’re openly admitting he’s in discussions with Ipswich and have tried to attract more bidders by setting a deadline. The asking price has put Leeds, among others, off and now we’re left with haggling with Ipswich. Probably a lot of small clauses in there but would think at his age and seeing as Ipswich are probably one of the relegation favourites, Rovers are trying to get as much as possible upfront. £10m rising to £12m perhaps? He can then be replaced with an expensive PL loan or another overseas player (or is our quota full?). Wonder who they have lined up.
  14. Either Dolan signs a new contract by the end of the window or he's gone, is my theory. I like the look of Kaide Gordon. Direct and with a good left foot. Still think we need another winger although Hedges did well on the left in-between his hamstring injuries. We'll be a team full of running and hard-working players, that's for sure. I like the squad we're building with such limited means, but please let there be a signing or two to be really excited about before the window shuts.
  15. Tugay was 31 when we signed him and smoked cigarettes in the toilets at half time. Retired a Rovers legend after eight seasons.
  16. We need bodies in so think McFadz and Batth makes sense. Between the two of them they'll probably feature a total of 46 or more times, meaning we'll have a proper defender/leader on the pitch in every match. I'm just happy we're making signings, but hope we can spend 'big' on one or two before the window shuts.
  17. Yeah, I don’t particularly rate him either. And he’s on too high wages to be playing understudy for Tronstad. I thought I saw a player in Garrett but he hasn’t developed as much as I’d have thought he would. Need a CM that can do it all.
  18. The squad needed just a little bit of seasoning under JDT. I'm trying to stay optimistic but feels as if we're moving backwards here.
  19. Depends on how JE wants us to play. Didn't fit well under JDT's system, and we haven't really seen much of what Eustace has to offer yet as it was all safety first in most his games in charge last season. Jury's out on Gueye. I think him signing proves how difficult it is to sign strikers these days. If he can grab 10 goals then excluding penalties then we should probably not complain. I would replace Travis too with a more box to box midfielder. No suggestions but think he's too negative in how he plays and usually gets heavy-legged after a run of matches. Tronstad way ahead of him in his best position too, so don't see a place for him in the starting eleven.
  20. Reminds me of how we waited to re-sign Stewart Downing at the same stage of his career, and he came back in a lot worse shape and needed a handful or more games before he was up to the pace again. Arguably he never got back to the levels from the season prior.
  21. Yuki Yuki Yuki in the morning, Yuki Yuki (YEKE YEKE Mory Kante)
  22. There was interest from bigger clubs so I'm sure they have set out a plan for him. Not saying this season will be the one but think he'll be given chances in the League Cup first, and if he takes his chances, then he'll be brought on from the bench in the league as well. Then who knows. Shouldn't be in any more rush in twelve months than now, if everything is according to plan. Grasping at straws here...
  23. Can't rule Ohashi out and at the same time claim Szmodics is worth £20m in a PL move. But it sure sounds like a direct replacement and a downgrade/big gamble if so. We might bring a winger in as well with pace but think we're going to put a lot of faith into Tyjon being the next big thing and more money into the coffers after losing Finneran. Reinvesting 10% sounds plausible to me.
