To be fair to the new setup, they were set up way too late. I have a theory (they're usually wrong, but what the heck) that we're making a few stop-gap signings this window if we can't bring in who we want. Then draw down a list of longterm targets and we might see more spending in January as they will have lined up some good players. After our burst of signings, it's been quiet, but a lot of players linked - and quite a few with links to Eustace, Parks or our good old fax machine. Could be it's sensible to listen to Eustace on this one, he knows the players he's after and what we'll get - and also what we're missing. The other targets are more unknowns and often a bit more 'exciting'.

Beck makes sense for LB cover. He's a different player than Pickering and with a lot more pace. Don't mind that one at all. Cantwell is a bit underwhelming. Big risk and seems to a bit of a bad egg. Wouldn't think he's top of the list of 50-60 players.

Weird if they need several days of disagreement before pulling the trigger.

Looks quick and combative. Can cover more ground than Travis and Tronstad, and a good alternative - we don't really need a starter there but someone who can challenge those two. But with injuries to both hamstrings, they might be recurring and not a good sign. Has a fee been mentioned?

Doesn't have bags of pace but can definitely beat his man. Would be a big upgrade on Dolan in any case, and can play across the front. I would prefer to go for someone a bit younger than Dembele considering we're dealing with assets here. Dembele has more tricks up his sleeve and is more proven at this level, but Aasgaard has more room for growth and will easily fetch a good fee if we sell him on. I don't see us spending £3.5m on a League One player, but a deal with add-ons - who knows? If we were going to reinvest a big portion of all the money we have received from player sales the past 12 months, I think we would've made more deals by now.

You're probably right. Wasn't it Eustace who mentioned they had drawn up a list of 50 or 60 players?

A direct attacking player with flair and pace? Are you sure about that? Not having him at £3.5m but is on a long deal and has shown great improvement.

Nicko must be in touch with Eustace's side then... so source not John Park? Eustace's agent? Thelo can represent England, France, Norway and Scotland so hope he gets called up to the Norway squad for a friendly soon.

Are they on Eustace's list? Thelo is another good Norwegian prospect 😉 born and raised in England though. Thought he looked quite raw when he played in the Championship but has enjoyed a very good season in League One.

Looks very tricky and can operate on both flanks. Still has potential for growth and seems like his decision making isn't always the best, but I'm excited about the prospect of him joining. Glen doesn't post often and knows his stuff, just waiting for him to start signing players - it's been a few years since he signed Rhodes for us 🙂

I don't think Gueye will play in the Prem unless he wins promotion for us or another Championship side. Would fit great in Luton, but hope they don't establish themselves as a top contender. Real impact player though, and a lot of charisma, so he'll be a fan favourite at Ewood. Regarding your assessment of our central midfield, I think that's also down to us pushing higher up, especially at home. That leaves gaps in the back, but Travis and Tronstad are both a bit too slow to cover enough ground quickly when we're in trouble. Tronstad with a little bit more pace off the mark would be in the Premier League imho.
