  1. shame he doesn't eh ?? He knows where he was too: he just didn't want the world to know about it eh eh eh ?? I totally defer to jim mk2 in this discussion, and apologise for any inference that Jim may have been telling porkies. The Parkes interview which went out at about 10 to 7 tonight on Sky Sports News - that I referred to in previous posts - has been entirely dropped from their rolling "through the night" news output. They are now showing a completely different interview with Parkes which looks like it was filmed in the offices of PAPR (ie c/o Paul Agnew) or somewhere similar, and the quotes Parkes makes in this new interview are also completely different. There is no reference to the quotes I have posted previously, which I saw and heard come from the lips of Tony Parkes. Apart from having to apologise to Jim, this troubles me very deeply. Why did Parkes do the first interview? Who advised him to do the later interveiw? How can Sky Sports News broadcast something and then replace it with something which is contradictory? Jim's Big Story theory looks like the best explanation for all of the above. If my employer treated me like Rovers have just treated Tony Parkes, I'd go at the @#/?s all guns blazing.
  2. sh!t this is a man city preview thread 2-1 Rovers, Gally and Dickov
  3. Bloomin' heck I could spit. I spent hours compiling the entry for the "Away Guide" "The Moon Under Water" on Deansgate is the preferred option. This should probably be posted in Ask Admin Or perhaps in the Away Guide section Because it's pretty clear that 99.9% of the users of this site hit directly onto the main messageboard. Is there any way that the "pinned" section could be replaced by pinned links. So (eg) the entire Man City match preview actually sits in "Away guide" but the link is pinned at the top of the main board, and the existing advice in the current "awayguide" section forms the top of each relevant thread?? And then after the event, someone "hoovers" the thread of all non-match day info content, and the remaining practical advice stays in "Away guide" - perhaps labelled "ManCity 12.11.04" And the pinned section on the main board moves on to have a link to the Birmingham game. Same treatment ... and in a couple of years we have a great reference database to previous away trips alongside the same great match preview threads.
  4. shame he doesn't eh ??
  5. Really ? Well next time you interview him, could you kindly ask him why, when Sky took the news crew to (presumably) his home, he told the world two blatant, bare faced lies ... that he'd not been to work and that he'd seen no-one from the club. Otherwise when his Big Story comes out it's going to be totally unbelievable, because Parkes (according to your evidence) has no idea where he's been or what he's done there. It looked like Tony Parkes on the TV, and sounded like him, he talked about doing things in his own time and in the proper way, and having taken lots of phone calls today, just before he went on (according to Jim) to blatantly lie to the world twice. How strange.
  6. Really ? In the interview on Sky Sports News Tony Parkes says he didn't go in to work today "for obvious reasons" However, the details don't matter - the way Parkes found out about his fate is an absolute disgrace.
  7. The Sun can print what it wants - it's always been full of sh!te. That aside, Parkes cannot spend the rest of his life just filling some random role, defined by the current incumbent (?victim?) of the real job. I've long held a belief that Tony Parkes has been allocated random titles / roles by sucessive regimes just because he's Tony Parkes. If the latest set up has found the P45s at the bottom of a drawer and dished one out to Parkes then I reckon we can't be done for unfair dismissal. Over and Rout.
  8. I've noticed the yes vote is collapsing - we just need Ohio to be confirmed as a "no" and we're home and dry
  9. or maybe in the deleted items folder ?
  10. I think if you did a poll on it You'd find that most would vote "count don't care as NO"
  11. I feel that the option of "don't care" is splitting the "no" vote
  12. This is really difficult. Brownie and Colin and Bazza have made really good cases from the very start for their respective choices. However in the end I came down to a shortlist of Latheron. And then added Forrest to it. Then had guilt pangs about not voting for the players I've actually seen. Like Den, wanted to delay the moment of truth .... but Final answer = Latheron.
  13. There is absolutely nothing wrong with anything you describe in this post. There was, hoverver, a lot wrong at Norwich. I cannot put it in simpler terms. (I didn't even see any flat caps). It's only about manners and common sense.
  14. But in this case the car is owned and paid for and is being vigourously run in against finely tuned racing models. Why bring it back to have its shiny gloss taken off by running around Morecambe on Tuesday nights with a bunch of old crocks just out the bodywork shop ?
  15. Does that mean Danns feels that despite playing every game for Colchester he's not been getting enough attention from the Blackburn management / coaching / scouting staff ?? If not, then what the heck's the point sending players on loan ? In the last handful of games the Us have played away at Blackpool and at Bradford, so there's no excuse for not having had him watched. I wonder what advice he's had from Hughes or anyone else in the management team ? "Yes Neil, come back to Blackburn and you'll get a run out with the stiffs against the mighty Bolton Reserves next Tuesday night." Or "Neil, take advantage of the next three competitive fixtures to get some good experience (FA Cup v Mansfield, L1 v Torquay and L1 v Huddersfield), we'll have a good look at you in those games and maybe bring you back in December." Seems a rather strange comment from the Colchester boss if Danns hasn't actually been recalled, and if he has, why didn't he just say "Blackburn have recalled Neil" ?? EDIT there are more complete quotes from the Colchester bosshere on the official site but interestingly no comment at all from the Rovers side. Yet.

    Fulham

Usual pre-match venue is the Eight Bells at Putney Bridge. Link If that gets too busy (it usually does) then there's a big O'Neills just over the road, which has one of the largest screens in London (which isn't much use to us as we're the 1245 KO).
  17. I think you have a point, and it's something I've thought about quite a lot since Saturday. In hindsight, I'd say about Saturday that there was an increasingly nasty atmosphere as the second half progressed, and several people appeared to be very, very drunk. I think that is why the stewards and police chose not to eject anyone - it could have turned into something a lot worse if they had been less intelligent about how they handled some very nasty provocation. So in that context I don't have any regrets about not attempting to intervene, or challenge some of the idiots I have already described in earlier posts - and given the fact that I (like many) had been in a pub since midday (and most of the previous night) it could well have made things worse. But I feel completely justified in starting a discussion about it on here, and in fact as there seems to be quite a large body of opinion against the sort of behaviour which damages the reputation of Rovers fans, maybe just maybe next time enough proper fans might be able to nip things in the bud by challenging individuals asap, before the whole thing has deteriorated as it did at Carrow Road and the stewards and police are by then heavily involved.
  18. When all is said and done, it doesn't matter one bit what people are wearing - makes absolutely no difference. And it doesn't change the fact that there were people in the away section on Saturday who were an embarassment to the rest of us, caps or no caps. I like many would love to see standing areas back at football grounds and various bodies (like FFC / Stand Up Sit Down) are doing what they can. It may work it may not. Either way, if a minority of travelling Rovers are going to use the standing issue week after week at away games to scream abuse at stewards and have a pop at fellow Rovers supporters, then it's going to become a real pain in the arse.
  19. The only thing I want is for Rovers fans to enjoy games. When I looked at the two idiots on row FF, strangely I wondered if you were one of them. In the end I decided neither of them would be able to type. I know you go to England quite a lot, and in a way admire your dedication. But your attitude (looking at your posting history) sucks. Rovers need family based support. Why are you trying to alienate the future of our club? Every time you slag off ome of the older generation you're giving them the perfect reason to abandon the Rovers, and take their kids with them. The people in the stands who you love to hate are the people who have kids who should be coming to games. Read back through this thread, because there is NO SUPPORT for your cynicism or your self-centred arrogance. Norwich was an interesting away day. First sell out for several years. Ewood Blues started drinking at 6am, and it showed - many of them behaved disgracefully. In the pub after the game, lots of people were very vocal about the "idiots towards the back". Everyone reading this thread needs to take some responsibilty, and make sure that we hold on to the tag of being the best away fans in the league.
  20. To be fair it's not exactly ground breaking quality journalsim. And if Babbel was shocked becuase Rovers players had a few pints at Gleneagles then I look forward to his autobiography ... it's gonna be a stunning read. Not for the first time, I can only be amazed that people are going to huge lengths to discredit Souness however they can. Really, what's the point? He's gone, Rovers have moved on.
  21. If you don't find a quote to back up that ridiculous claim, I might have to sue you . Which would in itself be hilarious.
  22. A worrying quote from Gordon Strachan on MOTD2 tonight Strachan went on to say he used to fine Bothroyd for incidents like that, and the player wouldn't give a sh!t. But when he told him he was dropping him for a month as punishment, Bothroyd used to cry.
  23. You've been itching to post something like this for 8 weeks, 5 days and 7 hours haven't you Janice ? You didn't let us down.
  24. yeah but you're a complete pr!ck at least Rover6 has a few get out clauses
  25. I completely understand that many fans are upset about the situation at Ewood regarding standing / away fans / rubbish football. I also understand the way most (Rovers) away fans behave and what they expect. Today at Carrow Road, I was embarassed to be sharing the away fans enclosure with some of our so called supporters. My impression was that some people travelled to Norwich with the sole aim of causing trouble. Whatever is going on at Ewood should not be an excuse for abusing stewards at Norwich (or anywhere else) because some locals are standing up. I'm pretty vocal, and love away games. Overall this weekend was another enjoyable one. Rovers all over town since Friday night, great pubs, great city, great people. But what on earth is going on when Rovers fans are verbally abusing stewards because people 100 yards away in a different area are stood up? We have a fantastic reputation - many say Rovers fans are the most welcome visitors out of the 92 league clubs. Today that reputation was being ripped to shreds. Behind me to my left was a guy in his 50s who I've seen at several away games. Watching the game and supporting the Rovers, as he has clearly been doing for most of his life. Several tossers in their early youth and their designer caps ripped in to him, because he asked some ###### up ###### to sit down. He was with his daughter. He brought her to watch football, it ended up he was abused by fellow Rovers "fans" and had to walk away and out of the game to preserve his own dignity. Will his daughter ever go to football again ? I'm pretty vocal, and love away games. Overall this weekend was another enjoyable one. Rovers all over town since Friday night, great pubs, great city, great people. (nice Castle). edit - said that twice - it must be true. The Norwich stewards and police dealt with the match situation with intelligence. At least 5 Rovers fans should have been heaved out, but to do so would have created more immediate problems. Don't worry, you 2 tw@ts on row FF, I reported you to the senior stewards, the police, and thanks to mobile phone technology your pics are going to Ewood as well. I hope I never see you in a Blackburn fans area again. This really isn't the time to start muddying the good name of the club because results on the pitch don't please us. We've been to hell and back before, and as fans have been beyond reproach. We probably have more appreciative plaudits than any other of the 92 league clubs. So I suppose this is a plea not a rant. We can support the Rovers without getting branded as stupid northern tw@ts. Let's try and keep it that way.
