[Archived] Will You Show The Fla A Yellow Card?
American replied to Amanda's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Ellis Park Jo-burgh 2001 43 killed and hundreds injured. Kaizer Chiefs v Orlando Pirates From the looks of it, 2 things were different. First, it looks as if people were standing on the chairs and second, it looks as if they were removable folding chairs, which is far different from standing in front of a chair bolted into the concrete. -

I can give you tons of examples of serious injuries/deaths with open area standing. Can anyone give me one with standing in front of seats? -

Lucky coincidence! (But I do remember the incident, just not that it was you.) Oh, and imagine that the seat hadn't been there to stop you, you'd have either fallen into someone(s) and knocked them over, or fallen onto your face. -

We do it over here at concerts and sporting events all of the time. Harder to reach you to be pushed over. If anything, standing in front of a seat is safer, as it stops the "crowd push" that you see happen. The only instances of crowd injuries/deaths over here that I know of were because of "festival" standing, i.e. no seats to stand in front of. Heck, you can be hit by a scoreboard beam, but they haven't banned those (yet). -

The opening of Enter Sandman... -
You should know not to say things like that before the half, and with them only needing one goal. Anyone's game now.

ANOTHER FOWL ITEM OF "INTEREST" Not for the faint of heart.

I'm excited by the match and I'm just following the Guardian's minute-by-minute.

missed the point. he DOES have youth and class over dickov, dont know why you question that. as for the penalties, never suggested they dont count, rather that jansen would also have netted 3 of the four. this would have left jansen the modest task of 5 outfiield goals in 25 matches to be ahead dickov in the goals/games stake. i believe radagast, you feel free to doubt. Not going to read through all of this, but Dickov has also earned most of the penalties this season. When's the last time Matt earned one? (as for the actual topic, I'd bring in one or 2 new strikers, play Dickov from the bench, bring in an attacking central midfielder (or move Reid up into that role) and a young backup right back. Also probably need some cover for MGP on the left. I'd keep Tugay as cover in the middle, he still occasionally has it, but as a squad player, not a starter.) -

Somehow lost against the last place team, no promotion again this season. Did get a solid keeper from my youth squad, and he should be going to excellent shortly. Have some money to spend (and will have more once he and my other keeper train up), just not sure if I should by a few excellent players, or a formidable cm. -
The problem is that when he was getting balls in the box, there wasn't anyone to get onto them. This was his best match of the season, and it was one of the few times I saw a Rovers player consistently putting balls in the box. One time he put a perfect one in, if we only had someone a little taller on the pitch. I was wondering if this was one of the smallest starting lineups we've ever had.

Like Buffalo Tom, haven't listened to it in a while, though, might have to go buy it again. I had it on cassette, but got rid of all of those.

I love when people expect us to lose to teams outside the biguns, because we usually at least get a point. 2-0 to us, people to say we are going to make Europe on Sunday evening.
-
I think he just needs to be nurtured into the role of a starter by being brought in late in games. That is the role he excelled in last season, that he hasn't been given much this season.

I would put MLS more on par with the CCC, except not as physical. Most of us don't say we're on par as a league, or anything like that. What we say is that you can't just dismiss a player because he is in MLS. We have our good players, our crappy players and our underrated players like any other league. There are players who are local stars so to speak (though that is all relative) such as Taylor Twellman, who I wouldn't see succeeding overseas, but other unsung heroes such as Shalrie Joseph who I could see being not a star, but an important starter/squad player depending on where he went. That being said, sometimes just because a player is English he is considered better than he actually is. If you asked me who to compare Twellman to, I'd say Andy Cole (the Cole of the past 2 years, not the good Cole). Great eye for goal, but a bit lazy in his play and needing great service to get the goals, unable to create many of his own chances. Some people here would love to see Cole back and would flip if we felt Twellman was the answer to our problems. Neither of them are. -

Souness may have bought MGP but he didn't know how to use him... Sparky has really brought the best out of him & THAT is the sign of a good manager That's the biggest load of crap I've read on this board. Souness gave him a shot, it didn't work out at the time. Who's to say things wouldn't have ended up working out the same? -

Almost glad the OG wasn't the winner, now I'll get Pedersen on the back of my shirt, not Sinclair! -

I'm assuming this will be live on Radio Lancs? I was able to listen to the Newcastle/Chelsea match on Radio Newcastle without any problems a couple weeks back, so if on, it might be streamed on the web even if you aren't on a UK server. -

The only thing that worries me about this match is Mokoena in central defense. I just have a bad feeling he'll give up a goal. Which is a shame, I'd rather win 3-0 than 3-1. -

Not sure how legal it is, but something about going through an English proxy server. -

I'll have the headphones on to RR at work. I know radio lancs isn't available online if you aren't in the UK, but if you check last week's minute-by-minute Champs League match reports on the Guardian (don't remember which one, but try Tuesday first), there is some information regarding proxy servers (not sure how much detail I can give, so if you need more info, PM me). -
You are. Really ? I thought I was complaining about poor service. Can you give us the specific poor service that you, Customer Jim, received? I'm betting you were smart enough to post for your tickets with little hassle and just want to take more pops at Williams. And Roaming, you not operating on people due to the lack of surgeons. You sir, are villanous!

Ironic, though, considering the star of the TV show Deadwood is a Rovers fan!
