  1. So that means when Rio comes back you won't be supporting the English football team?
  2. Actually, I didn't, but was considering a switch to winger anyhow, as most of my top players are wingers. Question, though, if I play a central midfielder in a 3-5-2 towards the wing does he get credit as a winger for training?
  3. Mike Harrington TSI = 200 (20 000 US$) , 17 years, passable form Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous Playmaking: wretched Passing: passable Winger: weak Defending: poor Scoring: weak Set Pieces: weak Not great numbers, but for a youth pull to even have a TSI I was pretty happy.
  4. Because he's 17 years old and was a decent youth pull.
  5. You might get lucky. My new call up didn't sell, so I put him in the lineup with 5 minutes to spare. Not as good as the guy who was in there.
  6. So you'd like us to keep being in major debt? Read the financial statements from last year and you'll get your answer (which you've already gotten time and time again, but you seem a bit thick about it). Absolute rubbish. Where on earth did I say anything about wanting the club to be in major debt? The simple fact of the matter is that we have sold Taylor, Duff and Dunn in the past twelve months yet have little money at all to spend. While some of the money was set aside for debt repayment, where has the rest apparently gone? Surely not all on Ferguson and Reid? I've never advocated spending large amounts on transfers but I did hope we'd have modest amounts to be able to rebuild the squad for the next few years after Duff and Dunn left. This isn't what Souness is telling the papers. Oh and I'll ignore your personal insult as I usually expect better from you... I'd say spending half and putting half towards debt repayment is pretty repsonsible. Even going by the lowest of estimates, spending 7 million on them and putting 10 million back towards a large debt is more than we should expect, considering how large the debt is. It's not responsible to spend large amounts this year, as we're not exactly making an operating profit from year to year (and I'm sure had we finished top 10 last year, there would be more money for transfers). The hope is for the club to be on a good financial footing. They might have put more towards the debt than people wanted, but they did the responsible thing. If anything, we should be happy they spent as much as they did on Ferguson. As for the personal insult, no offense, I've just hit my breaking point with everyone complaining about the money not being used on transfers, and being used responsibly instead.
  7. It is good to see that he was loyal, but to compare him with Duff? Duff was at the beginning of the "revolution" before players knew that everyone and their brother was going to be brought in, making competition for spots much tougher. Also, Duff probably knew that Rovers wouldn't have the money to surround him with the class of player Chelsea would. He knew that with Chelsea there would be yearly champs league football. According to reports, Liverpool has a ton of cash to spend this summer, and considering they made the champs league already, the future could only be brighter, as far as Gerrard was concerned. His prinicpals were to play in Europe. Do you think he'd have been so quick to turn Chelsea down if Newcastle hadn't folded at the end of the season?
  8. So you'd like us to keep being in major debt? Read the financial statements from last year and you'll get your answer (which you've already gotten time and time again, but you seem a bit thick about it). God forbid management be fiscally responsible to assure the long-term future of the club so fans aren't going door to door with buckets like those other guys down the road.
  9. Well, talk about different opinions! I can't stand real player, got that stupid live update thing running in the background, takes too long to load on my machines and rips cds into a stupid format that only Real Player seems to support. My iriver supports WMA files, therefore, i love it. Probably a Mac vs. PC thing. On the mac the live update thing isn't on all the time. You can disable it on a PC if I remember correctly. For MP3s I use ITunes. Only real player for video.
  10. Micro$oft don't make any progammes at all. Hmmmm...Windows Media Player is easily the best media player I've used, and I've tried a hell of a lot, so I'd say that's a good program. I MUCH prefer Real Player. Loads faster and doesn't take 10 seconds for the picture to come back up if you move the time bar forward.
  11. Hmmm, wonder if soueyisgod is going to come back on and eat some crow?
  12. Sam, you get the benefit of where they were played last, I believe. There is a listing of all the scenerios in hottrick somewhere, (I think) probably the training section, that shows when they do and don't get the benefit of training.
  13. Well, I won my first league match 3-0. I have a team of mostly purchased players at below market value, but I still have about 400,000 and am done buying. Definitely do the full youth investment. I got a guy worth 20,000 at 17 yo this week (hope to sell him for lots more). Probably will get a keeper next week and sell my starter, since he and my backup are about the same skill wise. My best player: Christian Tielen (34343119) 19 years old Total Skill Index (TSI): 1 550 (155 000 US$) Stamina: passable Goaltending: disastrous Playmaking: inadequate Passing: wretched Winger: solid Defending: poor Scoring: passable Set Pieces: disastrous Just bought him today at around market value, and plan to hold onto him for a while. Going to try to make a run at the league this season. Right now I'm training short passes, since all midfielders and forwards get training. Running a 3-5-2 so I get 14 guys trained. Was told that you should have 10 assistants, but no more (including goaltending). I'd definitely recommend the guide at hottrick.org
  14. Can we all post or repost our team numbers here so it's easier to find a number to arrange a friendly? Mine is 222528 (American Rovers)
  15. Ah Outlook, I remember that well... When I was working doing design stuff, a company wanted a custom fax cover sheet done for Outlook. It worked great until they upgraded to office 2000 and Microsoft got rid of the feature that allowed you to make custom cover sheets. Makes perfect sense, getting rid of a perfectly good feature when doing an upgrade. Oh and in the couple years my mac has been on OS X (or greater), I have had a full system crash maybe once.
  16. Microsoft sucks, explorer sucks, windows sucks. Buy a mac and use Safari.
  17. If you like having your strikers sent off it doesn't. I like Rooney as a player, but Smith is WAY overrated as far as I'm concerned. He'll have a hard time getting starts for Man United next season, even if they go with 2 strikers, he'll be 3rd choice.
  18. I have pride in being American, therefore I support the US in any sporting event, no matter how often I watch it. I will be glued to the TV during the Olympics this summer, even though I don't follow most of the sports during the other 3 years. Any competition that we have a chance to medal in I will be watching (except maybe men's gymnastics), no matter how much I know about the sport. That's the way I view fans who follow their country only in major tournaments. They aren't following for love of the sport, they are following for love of the country. Rugby World Cup anyone?
  19. Is this after getting out of the quarters with a couple dodgy calls? Host country calls always happen, just this time wasn't your turn.
  20. I'd try THIS SITE for some tips. Make sure you keep yourself some money. The strategy I used was to sell my best players and buy a bunch of youngsters. From what they were saying you just want to start developing your team the first couple seasons, don't worry much about winning, just worry about training young players and staying semi-competitive. Pick a strategy and stick with it for a couple seasons, no matter how bad it seems to be working. I'd also try hattrick organizer to see where your players are best suited (link is somewhere earlier in this thread, if you have the gumption to go look for it).
  21. You'll be facing mine as well. I've sold all of my older players and now have no one over 22. You'll be facing most of my youth squad call ups and other cheap young roster fillers I bought hoping to train up to be decent.
  22. It was the worst display of coaching I've ever seen.
  23. HMMMMM, should I start quoting all who predicted England to win and ask them about eating crow???
