  1. IMO he played well again, I think he is the key to Australia getting anything out of Japan game - no doubt. Hiddink puts alot of faith into into Grella especially around distribution. Another key aspect was no injuries tonight (its a shame 3 Dutch player were injured - Cocu, V.Bronkhurst and Sjneider, I hope they make the WC opener )
  2. No! Just Wilkshire... Think they got confused with the Luke/Lucas thing and just assumed it was Neill, otherwise you really have some unreliable source's on Australia. Anyway, It was a decent game and could have gone either way.. Japan won 1-0 against Malta and Croatia lost to Poland last night 1-0, while Brazil beat NZ 4-0!.
  3. I think there was alot of positives in the game. Only one more warm-up game left... its a pity kewell didn't get a run-out (all hope of that gone when Wilkshire was sent off) C'MON YOU AUSSIES!
  4. read this earlier.. stinks to me! With Eboue at Arsenal, one has to wonder.
  5. Interesting article on Ronaldinho speaking about Gus Hiddink. Click Me.. this made me laugh "Ronaldinho believes the Dutchman is in the process of converting Australia into the neutral supporter's "other" favourite team. Brazil have long enjoyed the position of being loved by everyone in the world apart from Argentina, but Ronaldinho thinks that the remarkable Australian qualifying story has begun to push Hiddink's team into the hearts and minds of neutrals everywhere." "Then if you take the drama and the romanticism of the win over Uruguay it seems to me that Australia has become an easy team for the neutrals to support. Everyone I speak to seems to have a good word for Australia in a sporting sense and lots of decent judges have identified them as a team which could make a surprising impact in Germany" - SMH Pity hiddink is leaving after the WC..
  6. C'mon Neekoy, without half the first team playing and and indifferent attitude to the game, you could hardly take the result seriously With the correct defence (no Hargreaves at RB) and midfield (Gerrard, Beckham and Lampard)on and in tournament conditions you will get the right result.
  7. Good news, the squad is full! Kewell has announced that he will be fit for the WC. IMO, he will get a start against Liechtenstein and then maybe a sub appeearance with Japan. Confidence-wise this is a big boost for the team. Click me.... and Click me... So on the injury front, Timmy Cahill, John Aloisi and Harry (+ Josh Kennedy) will all be available for game 1.
  8. Very good topic FLB. If I can't pick Mexico(my genuine pick) or Australia... it has to be Serbia & Montenegro Very decent at the back and good on the counter, overall a very underrated team  Odds around 100-1
  9. Actually JNB, its closer to three times the population. The MCG from the top tiers isn't bad.. still great atmosphere. Unfortunately, I have only been for AFL and Cricket matches.. wasn't there for the famous Iran vs Aus encounter in 97'
  10. 93,000 have been sold, capacity is 95,000. Great stadium the MCG (I though this was going to increase further? )
  11. Result for thursday night against Greece? Aus 2 - 1 Greece Viduka Stelios Brescaino (Can anyone stop this man scoring at Int'l level?) 94,219 attendence
  12. Anyone got a 'proper' WC fantasy football league(with all the players?) something in Excel?
  13. I hope everything you said comes true.. plays a blinder, then buggers off!
  14. I do agree with you Jan, but to keep the dream alive, fourth place is a must. I would love it, if we could make that spot.
  15. Nice read on the final four... We get fifth and 66 points
  16. Not really.. they could win and draw the 2 games, giving them the 4 points. They have a better GD dont forget (well, at the moment they do +4)
  17. On Skysports 1(Charlie Nicolas commentating on the game)
  18. Skysports has stated that, Bellamy was taken off as a tactial move, not an injury. Hughes brought him off, to cool off from his confrontation with Davis (sunderland keeper) Davis had pushed Bellamy in the back when clearing the ball from the sunderland box. Bellamy turned around and grabbed Davis by the throat. Davis did the same to Bellamy, until Caldwell seperated the two. Hughes then substituted Bellamy minutes later to allow hime to cool off.
  19. My bad - Sorry Greggyk, Just finished work
  20. How do you figure that? If Liverpool or Chelsea win the FA Cup, then the spot will go to the 7th position..
