  1. Same here - but the way things are going we'll be able to see this fixture next season - in the Championship.
  2. According to the Poll, the top 3 reasons are: Quality of entertainment Overpriced Tickets Too much football on TV Which leads to: "Why pay good money to watch cr*p, when you can stay at home and see at least 138 live games on Sky for less than two pounds a week?"
  3. The difference being that Chelsea have already sold over 90% of tickets for this game, not 55% like Rovers. If Rovers' were top of the league would you pay £48 or £60 to watch them play West Brom on a Wednesday night?
  4. Excellent site TNR. The figures I quoted were off the top of my head and will always be in Rovers' favour, but it goes to prove that if fans aren't happy with what's being served up, they'll stay at home.
  5. You're right Manchester Blue, they are all contributing factors. However, in my opinion, the main reason for the decline in Rovers' attendances over the last two years have been the lack of entertainment/excitement/anticipation/crowd pleasers, etc;
  6. Warhurst was never the same after he broke his leg in a challenge by Terry Fenwick of Swindon.
  7. If there's too much footy on TV, then why are there still waiting lists for tickets at clubs like ManU, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool etc? In my opinion, crowds flock to watch these clubs because they are succesful and entertaining, something which the Rovers have not been over the last 2 seasons. People will not get out of the armchair to watch mediocrity whether it costs £5 or £25. Anyone remember the old 3rd Division in the early 70's? Crowds of 5000 at Ewood when they were struggling. Gordon Lee's champions of 74-75 attracted crowds of 15 - 20,000 on a regular basis. Even in the championship (Division 1) a few years ago, Rovers average gate was 24,000. Give people excitement and they will pay to watch.
  8. Good idea Ozzie Put me down for Poor standard of entertainment.
  9. I couldn't agree more RoyRover. Fans will come back when they have something to look forward to. It's no coincidence that since Damien Duff left, the crowds have dwindled. We have come to expect a struggle against even mediocre teams. That could change when Bellamy is fit and Pedersen keeps performing. Fans want excitement and a successful team (it's only two years ago since we did the double over Arsenal!) The price of the ticket is only an issue when a team is struggling to win and/or entertain.
  10. 35 years now. Highlights have been: Tony Field's 2nd goal in the 5-0 win against Watford in '73, he came right over to me in the Blackburn End with arms aloft The 5-2 win against Plymouth and the 4-1 win at Port Vale in 1975. The 3-2 win at Turf Moor, Boxing Day '76 The 2-1 win at Bury in '80 Full Members' cup win in '87 The 2-1 defeat at Derby in '92 (play off semi final) The 7-1 win over Norwich in '92 The 3-3 draw at Leeds in '93 The 2-0 win over Man U in '94 The 2-1 defeat at Liverpool in '95 The double over Burnley in 2000-2001 Coca-Cola cup in 2002 Dunn's goal against Villa in 2002 The FA cup win over Burnley in 2005
  11. Hitting, Nail and Head - are three words that spring to mind. Spot on!
  12. Modes...... All three goals came through Neill's position. Maybe he shouldn't take all the blame, but in my opinion, he's not good enough - never has been, but it's only MY opinion mate. Anyway, what does obsurb mean????
  13. Watch the replay - Todd's eyes were on the ball all the time. Van Persie turned into him. Todd was NOT to blame. I thought Neill was at fault for all 3 goals. 1. Nowhere to be seen at right back 2. Turned easily by Van persie 3. Headed the ball directly into Vierra's path Thank God for Brad, it could've been 5 or 6 - but there ya go. Roll on Wednesday - when we can play a team who are worse than us.
  14. Rovers have to win to shut this prat up! Cummings If Rovers lose I'll have to move house!!
  15. It's Palace V Notlob on PPV at 12-45 Rovers kick off at 3pm
  16. Bolton - 2 shots on target in the whole game - the penalty and the rebound. Says it all really.
  17. It's quite simple really. For the past 18 months Rovers' home performances have been dross (compared to previous seasons). 10 home defeats last season, only 2 wins so far this season, with NO entertainment. Fans go to watch their team with expectation of a win or at least, an exciting perfomance. Even three years ago, when we were in the bottom 6, the home performances in the 2nd half of the season were enthralling - remember Dunn's goal against Villa - this coincided with Andy Cole's arrival and they capped it by winning the league cup. Stead's arrival created some excitement last season, but even he's gone off the boil. Look at the attendances we had in the First Division. It was exciting stuff, winning games in style, the fans couldn't wait for the next game. I don't think the low attendances at Ewood, have anything to do with Sky's coverage or the ticket prices. In my opinion, people have had enough of being disappointed time after time. I even know of some fans who have turned down the chance of a free ticket! Rovers are short of players who get the crowd on their feet and can make things happen. They need an Andrew Johnson, Darren Huckerby or a Jermaine Defoe. Let's hope we can unearth some players to attract the fans again.
  18. Bolton's 2 shots on target were Diouf's penalty and the rebound. Says it all eh?
  19. I disagree, I think Bothroyd's pace is deceiving - He's slower than he looks!!
  20. Why don't we offer Ferguson to Newcastle in a straight swap deal for Craig Bellamy? Souness gets his man and Hughes gets a class striker who he's managed for Wales.
  21. I think you mean '96. Was in the WalkerSteel for that game, remember the goal vividly... absolute cracker It was actually '93 guys. Rovers first season in the Prem, and the Geordies were top of Div 1. Anyway, my choice is Shearer and Garner. Shearer, simply because he is the greatest striker I have ever seen in a Rovers' shirt, and Garner because he is the club's all time top scorer.
  22. believe me i woudnt and ive had a season ticket for 34 years!!! Im one price increase of pulling the plug!Doesnt matter how good or how bad our team is football is too expensive and to think people would pay 50 smackeroos your having a laugh You're right Abbey - 50 quid may be a bit over the top, but you know what I meant.
  23. In my opinion, it doesn't matter how much the tickets cost. The fact of the matter is that Rovers don't have any players who excite fans any more. The likes of Dunn, Duff, and even Cole are long gone. Rovers, for the past 12 months, have no pace, little skill, are unpredictable, and most importantly, don't EXCITE fans anymore. Mark Hughes is doing a good, steadying job, but it will take time. Believe me, Rovers fans would pay £50 a ticket if their team were worth it. It's about quality of product and at the moment, I know people who wouldn't go if it was FREE to get in.
  24. Bobby Langton used to beat defenders and then go back and beat them again!! The crosses he put in were so hard that defenders ducked! He made a lot of goals for Tommy Briggs. My Dad told me that Bobby Langton was the best player he has ever seen. That's good enough for me.
  25. Just saw it on SkyNews I'll say it again ---- The "racist" in question looks like he was giving Yorke a double w*nker gesture. Then Yorke's interpretation of it looks more like a chicken! Then other fans joined in by telling Yorke to f**k off as he was being led away by the steward. Did anybody HEAR any racist comments?
