There is definitely enough about Leo to assume he'll develop into a decent keeper and his reflex saves are better than Pears.  Other than that though there isn't much between them at this moment in time and both are open to 'could do better' debates.

However everyone has to accept this is what is going to happen with development signings. Days of getting an experienced top foreign league keeper for a fee and decent wage are long gone i'm afraid.

They don't seem to learn that that is the best way to actually make money to reinvest whilst also improving the team itself, as the TK signing showed.

I think also we have to accept the days of steady keepers who do all the basics well week in week out and command their area and defenders are long gone.  Look around the Championship there isn't much to desire in keeper terms.

    Leo "Waltonstedt" ?

Although battering these lot on their own patch was sweet a few seasons ago, we also battered them last season but the same old demons got the better of us.

6 months later and despite a changed team and playing just as well it's same old same old.

Would be very nice indeed if they are still going well when we go there and we stick it up them and play a part in ruining a play off push.

    Tick tock....

I can hardly stomach their attitude towards us, now the men against boys stuff etc...

I know they are bitter and I get it.

There are die hard Knobbers, pushing 70, who have never once seen their team in the top flight.

Since they were last in the top flight, local rivals Blackpool have been promoted twice, Rovers twice, Burnley more(!), Bolton twice, Wigan once.

Moreover Rovers have won the Premiership and League Cup. Wigan have won the F.A. Cup.

Then, just think about some of the other clubs, who have tasted top flight football, during the long PNE exile:

Barnsley, Bradford, Carlisle, Huddersfield, Hull, Luton, Oldham, Swindon, Oxford, Charlton, Millwall, Cardiff, QPR, Bristol City, Notts County, Portsmouth...

    Just saying lol

I think you got lucky. Caught us with a lot of injuries having to rely on a lot of youth, but we still outplayed you for long periods. If we had a decent striker I believe it would have been a different story as other than Szmodics (who I reckon is also carrying an injury), our other players rarely chip in (I think the most goals by other players is 4). If we hadn't lost JRC to a bad injury against Norwich, he'd have been all over you and added some much needed bollocks. Due to his loss we had a midfielder at fullback and you took full advantage. At the beginning of the game when I saw Travis at fullback I groaned, and as expected we lost, despite playing better than I expected and raising hopes. We had four first team defenders out and no fit strikers. The three strikers we did have on the bench were a kid, a L1 striker short of match fitness and a lad from a foreign pub team league, who previously also looks short of match fitness.

I'm guessing now your fans love Lowe, despite wanting him sacking after taking you to the top. To be fair I can see why after a bad result it could easily turn as a team with a decent striker or two would have turned you over before your first goal went in. For a team that's spent most of the time in the top 6 I was surprised at how almost every PNE pass gave the ball away cheaply, and resorting to fouling, but you can get away with that when you have belief and some physicality.

Preston remind me of us early last season when we weren't playing very well but getting results by hitting teams on the break and relying on a bit of luck. Hopefully your luck runs out like ours did when we were cheated at Coventry 😉

I do agree with all this, but .....we lost.

I would have been more than happy to play shite, and win, especially in a derby.

Losing in the last minute seemed like a Rovers script.

I remember going to Burnden in the mid 70's. They could/should have had seven, but we won in a smash and grab-John Waddington, I think. Ecstasy!!

Playing shite in a derby and winning is the name of the game.....

Doubtless, given the weekend it is, both teams will be wearing black armbands throughout the game, anyway; but, surely it must be possible for the announcer to use some form of words before the Last Post referring to us having "lost one of our own." without seeming disrespectful to the soldiers whom we'll be commemorating?

    Tell the Home Secretary !

I agree with you on this.
