  1. Burnley are the no-brainer answer, so aside from that, I'd probably say Brentford. Living in Cambridge, I also 'follow', rather than support the U's, and I even had a £40 season ticket years back when they got promoted, finishing second too.... yup, Brentford, losing to them on the last day of the season (winner of the game would have taken the championship). So on a personal level, I want them to be trounced by my other team, for making me miserable for a week after that day in the late nineties.
  2. Bowen was sacked? And heres me thinking he left for Rovers. Still, £6m over 3 years sounds like a manageable amount. Lets hope that it has some clauses that say if we go down we dont have to pay full whack.
  3. I always had him down as one of the Nolan Sisters.
  4. I'd happily let them have Fergie for nothing if it meant Amo, Matteo, and possibly Gray were to go with them... and a contract be put on Dioufs life... or perhaps thats a little extreme... ...no-one will want Amo.
  5. Wow, I never knew people felt so stimulated by a football club... your keyboard must be filthy.
  6. There was a modern adaptation of MacBeth (think its right play), done on a council estate, in none other than good ol' Birmingham... Brady could be one of the witches
  7. I, personally, dont think we need him anymore at his current level. However, if we let him go and get Bothroyd permanently, I owuld be disapointed, as there hasnt been a massive difference in them this year. Perhaps a 1 year contract (lower wages) with a 3 month stint at a div 1 club to get him back to some sort of match fitness... then, if not, I think Blackburn would have done all and moreso that they could to keep him and get him back to his best. Cant see it happening tho...
  8. Novo's looked good this season for them, and seems to be the only player being able to get to performances that Bazza can (but hasnt) reached... but Rangers wont get rid, so theres no point in even seriosly mentioning it. My quick glance over the Rangers first team through up a shock, in that for the first time in years, I barely knew any of the names... just a squad of foreigners.
  9. Case of mind going too fast for fingers. What I meant was: 1. We dont need a Parker type player, IMO 2. We could afford him or his wages, so therefore will have to go for someone like Gera, who is good, and cheaper...
  10. Dont think we need Parker and Sav in the same midfield... perhaps a move for Gera when WBA get relegated... he's looked impressive for WBA in what is a dire team... plus he fits Hughes ethos of international captains.
  11. Sounds like a man ata a BIG club, doesnt he...
  12. Someone should have a whip-round... charity haircut. Donations to tsunamis, ONLY if Sav gets his hair cut off in the Ewood centre circle... now thats something I'd definaetly stick some loose change into. Edit: Wonder how many of these go to Brum fans... http://www.tshirts365.com/store/comersus_v...?idProduct=1712
  13. HAH! cant cope for playing with Brum, the bigger club... ...who are a gargantuan 1 point ahead of us. And Arsenal think they have it hard...
  14. Is that a reason or another comment? Because he is, arguably, our best player, shouldnt make him captain if its your reasoning. Tim Sherwood was certainly not our best player in 94/95, even if you didnt count Shearer, but he was always our captain.
  15. If we cant not pay his wages, and dont get a sufficient bid, we could always belittle him further by offering him on loan to the likes of Hull - a fairly rich team who could probably afford to pay for a 3 month loan spell, and see the brave captain of Scotland playing in lower leagues. Then maybe when he comes back, we could tell him to either play properly, or the same treatment again - its not as if he'll be free soon for him to just see out his contract. AT least we wont look like a push over, and be insulted with the Rangers offer.
  16. I'm not seriosly suggesting it, but I wonder what would happen to Jansen performance if he was hadned the armband? Personally, I'd say Neill. Savage is gonna rule the midfield, and Dickov up front, whereas Todd leads by example, so a calmer presence at the back could help us. Plus, its not as if Neill is always hemmed back, he does get forward into the play more.
  17. If we were going to get a midfielder from the barcodes, then I would much rather it be Jenas, but thats about as likely as me being a World Cup winning captain for England.
  18. Would laugh my undercrackers off if they donated it to the tsunami appeal instead of giving it to Brum... they could hardly refuse to let us have the player - would make them look like right heatless b*****ds...
  19. I cant see us selling for 3million, tho, transfer request or not. If he does a Savage, then we simply dont pay him, if thats allowed (heck, I would - I do sympathise a little with the Brum board on that one). And if he underperforms, Rangers wont want him back n e way, and so the only option left to hi mwill be to play his way out of Rovers, which means playing like a demon.
  20. TBH, I cant see Rovers coming out of this too badly. If Rangers dont cough up, they said they will go elsewhere, in which case, I'm guessing Bazza wouldnt really have another shot at getting back to Glasgow, unless it was with Celtic, which'll never happen. If that is the case, I can see him playing better than he is now (because he seems to be a player that hasnt looked focused really, whereas if he knows he has to stay, he may try harder, even if to just move off inthe summer to another EPL club). If Rangers do cough up a decent amount ($.5million I'd say was a realistic top amount), then we at lest have some cash-in hand to buy anotehr player of some decent quality. And if it is all a ploy by SOuness, well, we know he pays silly money, so again, we'd win somewhat from that, so long as it doesnt happen like Parker did last season ,when there was no time to bring in a replacement. Personally, I'd still quite like him at the club. While I'm sure he wasnt pushed into the transfer request, it does seem a little bit like an agent thing, considerin the good comments previous to this, and besides, on the pitch, he does do a job for us, and perhaps if he gets a couple of games with Savage, with Thommo pushing for his place, it might liven the spineless git up a bit. All in all, I think the worst situation is selling to Rangers for only 4.5million or so, which is daft, not in the market, simply due to what we paid for him. But what do I know...
  21. Hah... an underperforming England International, and a player that was on loan, sit astride the player they now consider crap, and not worth keeping.
  22. I doubt that very much but if he's so good maybe Hughes should be having a look at him. Why would we need the next Duff, when we already have a perfectly good player on the left in... no, I wont turn this thread into another one of 'those' threads by mentioning 'his' name...
  23. Who said we were a big club? Everyone here acknoledges that a town of Blackburns side is more than lucky to have a premier league club, let alone one that is now actually doing really quite well...
  24. Thats logical... its like saying because Hitlers parents wernt so bad, we should have a soft spot for Adolf. Maybe its a gift I posess that I can have opinions of individual people...
  25. Ah yes, the relegation battlers Blackburn, who are only 1 point behind Birmingham... at least our club looks on the up, whereas Bruce seems to be okay with a bottom half finish, or using your methods of thinking, a relegation battle. Good luck with Diao... what a squad that could be. Tiny, Diao, Morrison AND PieMan Dunn all in the same squad... shrewd millions spent there... and the Andy Johnson move was spectacularly judged. Now THAT kind of management screams a lot more like a relegation battle than goal difference.
