  2. Thanks for classing the Sout hEast as wjere you met a load of 'dicks'. Considering we're all working on stereotypes, with the inbred Norfolk people, slappers from Essex, and more well off in Cambridge, I woulda said generalising as SE as dicks is like classing the whole North like Geordied (nothing wrong with Geordies, but clearly a one off population). Still, all this boils down to is petty crap that people dislike whats different, rather than anything thats wrong with it... On topic: Were we actually linked with Sav before Brum got him? I hinestly cant remember much about him back then, in terms of transfer gossip.
  3. Every league has a dominant few. Spain has Real/Barca/Valencia as the only real chancers of winning the league, Italy more-or-less boils down to Juve/Milan, especially since its dire financial situation, and England has Chelski/ManUre/Arsenal. the thing is with Spain, Italy and England is, is that while no-one predicts it, its never a massive suprise to see the club on the bottom beat a team at the top, plus there is always the suprise package. Espanyol in Spain this year, and Sociedad a couple of years back, Italy has a high-flyer at the moment but I cant remember who (Udinese?), and England has Everton, and even then, Sociedad were the only team who looked like they could have won the league, rather than just offer a token gesture. But its not the top teams that make the leagues what they are, if it did, Scotland would be the epicentre of world football, but its the leagues as a whole that make football what it is in each respective country, and thats why England is NEVER called anything lower than the third best league in the world, and more often the best league. Its also ther eason why Scotland is seen as a shoddy league. If the Scots really are all that, and Rangers & Celtic are just one-offs, then let them play down here for a couple of months. Celtic would be Middlesbrough-esque in their position, with rangers nearer Spurs. What great benchmarks for the top two of Scotland...
  4. Why is it there seems to be this North Vs South thing in this country? I mean, being a southerner myself, I naturally dont give a damn about it, but why is it that people up North do (generalisation, obviosly)? The reason for that, mate, is a question of identity..... just who are you........... Most southerners have very little sense of identity in relation to their location due to the fact that most of them live in places of large influx and rarely stay in the same area themselves. Much of "the south" is an homogenized area anyhow. Most of "T'North is populated by folk who have stayed put and feel rooted where they are - for good or for bad. Those of us who do move are often the more adaptable elite. As it happens before spending seven years in R lovely capital city I spent three years amongst the townies of your fair city. Delightful place - shame about t'locals........ Glad to be back Ooooopp North where god resides. The reason you have no civic pride is that you live surrounded by "foreigners".... ........Ooops - just like Blackburn then...... ( cue B.Phillip 'n' Tnr...) I have a great sense of identity, strongly linked with Cambridge (townies? wtf, its just a bunch of b*stard tourists/students). Pfft, nothing wrong with the locals here, we just prefer things more than warm beer, cricket and tales of t'good old days Cambridge does have a real sense of unfriendliness, tho. When I go to Blackburn, people seem to want to be your best friend (which pi$$es me right off, purely because I'm not used to it, but its nice to know not all of England are what Scots have us believe). Still, its still all petty nonsense. We should just be glad we live on this island, and feel pity for Canada about their southerly neighbours

  6. I wonder how mnay clubs have given a whole 6 mins or so to an Argentinian international that was bought by Osasuna anyway, then let him go for free Where does Figeroua (I'm not even gonna pretend I know how to spell it) play now anyway?
  7. Rather that, than an a*se kissing judas as a manager.
  8. Lets hope he signs for Gers and then breaks his knees the wrong way, and can never play again. not that I'm bitter at the Scot, git.
  9. Spose we can look at it as Ferg out, Savage in, and hopefull some profit to cover the fact Sav is older... brightest side I could find to look at anyway.
  10. Beeb not disclosing amount, or even guessing. I reckon it'll be £5.3 - 5.5m, with any amount over the 4m mark being paid in instalments. If its any less I'll be seriosly narked.
  11. Perhaps the Robbie Keane rumour is true then? Cant imagine Bazza is having a medical without a fee being thrashe dout, in which case, there is no reason why we cant have been talking to someone else.
  12. What was Pandiani going for. I know its VERY late in the day, but... oh who am I kidding.
  13. Ah well, at least if we get relegated we will be able to afford to hold onto the likes of Matteo andother dynamos of the team.
  14. I'd be quite happy with £3m and Novo. I know he's a risk, but he looks a pretty good player, to me. Will also see how much they want Bazza to 'come home'.
  15. TBH, if we did get him, I can see him being used as a wide player, with stead up front. It would give us Dickovs goals, a forward presence, and some attacking pace. Only thing is that if you beieve all you read, he kicked up a stink because of playing out wide. Still, I wouldnt moan at a Bellamy/Dickov front line, especially if MGP can continue to play well o nthe left.
  16. A year a go, I woulda thought this woulda been a walk over, with the only obstacle being that all derbies are harder than paper shows. But since the new manager has been there, they have played quite well. granted, Blake got nearly all their goals, and Chaplow was to Bumley what Gerarrd is to 'pool, but I still dont think this will be as easier tie as some people think. Hope Todd/McEveley play - love to see them get the goals that put thir old loanee club out of the cup.
  17. Sliema is a place in Malta. A nice place, too, if memory serves (I was 7 when I was there last, tho).
  18. 3-1 Chelski. Matteo at fault for two, and outplayed for a third by Duffer. Thommo get really egged up, get a booking, and a scorcher of a goal.
  19. Well arnt you special. But perhaps some people here didnt...
  20. I dont particularly belive it - thats why I copy and pasted everything Although, I hope we can keep him, even if just for this year to make sure relegation is avoided.
  21. As far as the Newcastle thing goes, I'm a little torn. I dont think anyone could begrudge Shearer another Cup winners medal, and yet, I want so badly for Souness to fall flat on his arse (moreso, that is).
  22. Blackburn Rovers win Ferguson battle http://www.fansfc.com/frontpage/frontpagen...p?newsid=135858]
  23. Ah, but the idiots of Real Madrid paid 12m for Thommo, plus a 30% sell on clause. Dont you just love the realism of Football Manager...
  24. Thommo on FM? Gah, never, MGP and Emo all the way...
  25. Hasnt Emo started every league match he's been available for since MH took over? I cant imagine him being used as a make-weight in a move, when he is clearly one of the mamangers first names o nthe teamsheet. I would rather let go of Thommo if he had to lose a decent wide player, and even then I'd be reluctant to do that.
