  1. Actually one of our best performances of the season if not the best, at least in terms of fluid, free flowing football! I thought Bentley did very well today too. He deserves a shout out.
  2. Definitely wont finish 4th now. 6 points off Spurs and Arsenal possibly with a run in them still. It will be between those two as I see Bolton losing a few now.
  3. Proud to be a Rover. I can take losses like today. Not like we lost against Everton, West Brom, etc... We pummelled the team 4th in the table away from home for 80 minutes and in the second half they resorted to hacking it away and not having any players in our half. Shame that Grays lack of pace cost us. We didnt deserve a draw. A win is more like it! 4th place is now over for us surely. Im worried we might end up with nothing and no UEFA Cup spot! 7 wins out of 10 should do it...Can we get it though!?
  4. Newcastle won and I think we might have to start considering that they may figure in the final run up for 4th - 8th.
  5. Not the worst results for us today with Bolton losing, and West Ham failing to win. Arsenal won and I think that they will put a run on at the end of the season and possibly finish 4th. Newcastle win yet again and Id go as far as suggesting that they will challenge for a UEFA Cup spot.
  6. I watch the Spanish, German, Italian and English leagues regularly live cause I follow some of the teams or players there. In terms of quality the English Premier League is DEFINITELY not the best league. In terms of end-to-end action, its probably the best but with the Spanish league very very close to it. In terms of pure football, then its got to be Spain and Italy with England third. In terms of tactical football, the Italians are King.
  7. People lets not forget that finishing 4th doesnt guarantee Champs League football or 15 million pounds, just ask Everton. We could end up with a nightmare draw, IF we even made it.
  8. I wouldnt feel comfortable if a Russian bought us out and replaced the players that have the Blackburn character with mercenaries like Pompey have been doing and then we would be clouded in suspicion about where the money is coming from and what happens tomorrow if Mr. Moneybags leaves us! I wouldnt mind a fan buying us though.
  9. It says the Walkers are fed up with the losses thay they are incurring largely due to the attendances. http://tribalfootball.com/march/englsnews7020306.html Hmm...
  10. Almost a goal every 2 games. Not the worst of records. In fact Id suggest that its his best scoring performance in a season!
  11. I agree with the last post. Inconsistency against some "average" sides will cost us.
  12. At the moment, it looks like 6th might mean a UEFA Cup position, but Boltons win today puts them in pole position for at least a UEFA Cup spot if not more!
  13. Hmm...Depends what better is defined as. There is no way he can leave his stamp on the game yet like MGP has been doing for us for well over a year. But he has potential. Might become a better winger, but MGP is much more than a winger. He is a midfielder that scores goals, gives assists, has a lethal freekick and his set pieces are decent.
  14. I agree with your points Paul. Lets not underestimate MGP's effect on the game, and had he stayed on, who knows, maybe another goal? But at any rate, Peter needs experience. He takes too much time on the ball but he will get there. He has the ability I think. About your comparison between Sinama and Kuqi, you had it spot on. At least, this guy can keep hold of the ball! But I would start with Dickov if fit!
  15. The higher we get, the more likely it gets that we will lose Sparky sooner rather than later. Double-edged sword!
  16. Well we all knew that Todd had a great season last year, but I think alot of us think that he was an average-to-above average player playing well to the max of his abilities, rather than someone who is naturally a gifted defender, something which I think Zurab is. I think you understand what Im saying. People also forget how they slate Todd after some poor mistakes earlier in the season, calling for the Zurab-Nelsen partnership!
  17. Gotta say that at least 5 of our next 6 games are winnable (other than the Spurs game where a draw may not be the worst result). So in essence if we get 15 points out of the next 18 (especially if one of them is a win over Spurs) then we would be in with a real shout of Champs League football, with our last 5 games to come. Can we do it? Consistency has always been the problem...So lets wait and see...
  18. He was magnificent today although he sometimes try to play his way out of trouble when he should just hack the ball away and today he let Reyes through on him once after he did such a thing. He has won me over with some of his great performances this season, proving that he wasnt a one season wonder. However, I still think that Zura is a better defender.
  19. He has to earn his spot again. Im sure he will be back. But I would begin to consider him for the right back spot. I mean thats where he became a star in European football for Feyenoord.
  20. All I have to say is YA BABY! A pulsating game and thank God we survived the deadly 15 minutes in the middle of the second half, but we should have put the game beyong doubt before that. Bellamy was brilliant, but Todd and Nelsen were also superb and also a shout out to Reidy! I think we have given ourself one more shot at 4th place but it all depends on whether we can beat Spurs or not!
  21. Then I shall drop my case after your explanation and couldnt be bothered to drag it further. I will though say that if I were the boys I wouldnt have a much bigger incentive to win our games other than to give myself an extra week or two off in the summer!
  22. philipl, check the last page, near the end, where it is said that there are automatically 2 uefa cup spots from the league, before your ramifications come into play.
  23. No that person is wrong. Only 5th place should get a UEFA Cup spot. Unless you can provide the source.
