Everything posted by G Somerset Rover

  1. A rumour. An actual rumour: SS Pete O’Rourke: Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn Rovers interested in signing Brighton midfielder Taylor Richards. #QPR #Rovers #BHAFC
  2. Console yourself mate in the knowledge that it’s the same for Lionel Messi.
  3. Somebody also posted on here the other day about this and how it’s effectively, all about marginal gains, which at this high level can make a big difference. You’re right though, 99% of the time it’s this way with left footers (MGP excepted!).
  4. Assistant by day, DoF by night. Only at Rovers.
  5. I didn’t like the thought of him and Wharton - two left footers - at the back in a four if I’m honest. It is concerning that it’s another who we’ve had an interest in, who is going elsewhere. We’ll be into the Z list before long.
  6. All young players too. Which will fly in the face of the ‘experience’ line that the club has trotted out for months.
  7. We’ll be looking to the non-league soon, and even then I wouldn’t be surprised to see us get gazumped time after time. Time Broughton gave an interview to local media.
  8. A pre-requisite for a full back (even more so wing back) has to be pace. If we line up with Pickering / JRC as our full backs / wing backs this season then we'll be in huge danger - regardless of who we (finally) bring in elsewhere.
  9. We seriously need to back the bloke. Unlike Mowbray, IMO, he’ll have some pride, so will be off like a shot if we’ve sold him down the river.
  10. Beat me to it. Just the 23 clubs in our division ahead of us when it comes to recruitment.
  11. Honestly, I don’t think there’s more than 1% chance that he signs a new deal with us. Why would he? He will get a better pay day now or at the end of his contract elsewhere. By a country mile too.
  12. Only problem is he’d cost more than a packet of pork scratchings. And would want a decent Championship wage. Both of these rule us out.
  13. We need to get creative with our wage structure. FFP is obviously a huge hindrance, but so is not budging at all for the right player.
  14. Also, we could bring in the best in the industry, yet given we seemingly pay with magic beans these days, it won’t make any difference no matter how good he is.
  15. Thanks for the reminder. I don’t know how my TV or cat survived the night.
  16. Indeed. It’s going to be infuriating should that happen as the bloke is such a breath of fresh air.
  17. I’m on holiday until the weekend. I can pretty much guarantee I’ll miss the square route of bugger all. The ‘urgency’ to ever get things done at our club is beyond alarming.
  18. Jeez that is a cracking signing. Some decent business happening in and around us.
  19. Dack in injury shock. I’m sure it’ll be the first of many this season, unfortunately.
  20. And even then it’ll be Prem loanees. And as we’ve seen before, those youngsters are a complete lottery as to whether they’ll have much impact.
  21. I’ll tell you what his update will be now: ’Despite the frustration over deals taking longer than hoped, it is now thought that there will be signings in before the Dundee game.’
  22. "We will sign players of similar ability or even better.. " Chaddy. What has the last twelve years shown you on that front, pal?
  23. I'm looking forward to Sharpe's update after annual leave. "For one reason or another, Rovers couldn't quite get players over the line before the Accy game, but the expectation is there will be new bodies in before Dundee." Rinse and repeat.
