I have some morbid curiosity about the line-up but that's about it. If Samuel starts again I expect a new contract is imminent for him.
-
I think Hull are stuffed, and will likely finish 23rd or even bottom. It's looking like a fight between Barnsley, Luton, Charlton and Huddersfield at this point. Birmingham in shocking form as well at the moment but probably just about have enough to limp over the line.
-
Exactly.

That admission doesn't reflect well on him regardless of how it's spun. Either the players were playing to his instruction and it was useless, or they weren't which meant they paid no attention to his instructions - and he was also completely unable to change it for 45 minutes.

Pathetic performance. The manager's selections and tactics tonight were an absolute joke. I really don't want to see any more of this 'progress'. I've had enough of these no-show performances and nonsense decisions. How many games this season have we played well for the entire match? It's always one bad half one good half, or more often one bad half and one average half. It's been the same since League 1. I'm just done with it, and done with Mowbray.

It's a woeful division.
-
Ah, but they were clearly brought in to play as wingers - because as far as our manager is concerned every striker is better off playing out wide, even if they have none of the attributes to do so effectively.
-
Where is Gallagher playing if Rothwell is wide right and Downing is false 9 ?
-
Might as well prepare for it now...

One week later Rovers are delighted to announce contract extensions for Danny Graham and Dominic Samuel.
-
Rothwell & Gallagher on for Samuel & Graham.

Whilst there has been progress in rebuilding the team into a mid-table prospect, as it was before our relegation season, I see little progress in regards to our style of play (still have no idea what this is) or building the squad itself to improve upon where we are. Our two big money signings are being kept out of the team by soon-to-be 35 year old DG and Dominic Samuel for goodness sake. It would be churlish to disregard the good TM has done during his time here, but I don't believe he has what it takes to push us beyond this point. My concern is that once our better players leave and/or retire that we are going to seriously pay the price for Mowbray's missteps in the transfer market and his inability to generate a consistent pattern of play.

Much like Saturday a very poor first half with the only comfort being that we're only one behind. At the very least we need Rothwell and/or Holtby on the pitch to try and change things. That was a very disappointing first half from a team that looks demotivated and seemingly lacking ideas. Not sure why we've come into this game looking so disinterested after a good fightback at the weekend.

I wouldn't normally root for Wigan but considering how they've been stitched up by their owners and the EFL I'm hoping they do stay up. Hull certainly don't deserve a place in the division next season - they have been absolutely pathetic during the second half of the season after selling off their best players during the January window.

Just because somebody is honest doesn't mean everything they say should be lauded, though. If somebody told me that they honestly thought the world was flat I wouldn't applaud them just because they were being truthful with me, I'd disagree because it's nonsense. Time will tell whether chucking the season works out for Norwich or not. They'll obviously be better off financially for some time, but the Championship is far from easy to get out of even if you do have some cash behind you.
-
Whilst Farke is correct about financial security, the idea that they went about the season the right way is laughable. Burnley and Sheff Utd have shown that with a smart plan in place smaller clubs with limited budgets can survive in the PL. It was obvious when Norwich went up that unless they changed their style of play they'd be coming straight back down, as they conceded the most goals of any Championship winners in over a decade. Failure to address that is a pretty big oversight and as a Norwich fan I wouldn't be very happy with these defeatist comments from a manager who clearly did not put the right strategy in place to give the club the best chance of avoiding relegation.
-
Better players would be a start but we also need to bring in some aggressive lads who won't accept mediocrity. Until we have a few of those dotted around the team we're destined to be nearly-rans. Too many nice lads in the team at the moment who wouldn't say boo to a goose.
-
I don't think it's anything to do with the training ground, it's just the mentality of the players we've brought in. They struggle to handle the pressure of being favourites but can deal with being the underdog - a team very much in the image of their manager.
-
He had some questionable performances in League 1, but since his injury he seems to have been motivated to prove himself. Unfortunately his limits mean he isn't a top-half Championship player and never will be, but I'm sure TM will look upon his attitude favourably which may bode well for Samuel in terms of getting a new deal.
-
In fairness Samuel is playing a level above his ability. Can't fault his effort even if the ability isn't there.
-
WBA are a class above us, unfortunately. Difficult to see us getting back into it unless we can grab a scrappy goal or score a set piece and swing the momentum in our favour. The only real positive is that we're only one down at the moment.
-
It's not uncommon for TM to keep the side unchanged when the pressure builds and he reverts to a better team with less square pegs in round holes. He did it earlier in the season as well. I'm sure we had an unchanged side for 4 or 5 games around Nov/Dec time.
-
There is some absolute tripe at the bottom of the division. At least six teams that arguably all deserve to be relegated. Stoke and Huddersfield especially considering their squads relative to those around them.
-
It was poor last season and it's poor again this season. We've conceded more than the likes of Reading, Wigan and Boro. Improvement required if we have any serious hopes of pushing beyond mid table.
-
No chance. PPG under Mowbray was easily enough to stay up over the course of the season. We were relegated with 51 points ffs. The team was poor but it was good enough to stay up, we were just handicapped by Owen Coyle, his pathetic training methods and his useless tactics. Venky's took far too long to sack him and that's the only reason we went down that season. If Mowbray had been in place by early January I firmly believe we would have stayed up.
