Regarding umpiring, Steve Bucknor seems to be calling on the 3rd umpire most, whilst Alim Daar seems to have made the most mistakes, including losing count of an over. Most impressive has been Daar's stand in at Birmingham and Manchester, NZ's Billy Bowden.

Gripping stuff! Series like this one come along once every generation. Roll on the fifth test.

What goes round comes around. No one mentions that the Aussies have been at full strength for 20 years, whilst for some of those series England have been depleted by injuries of up to 5 first choice players (eg Gough etc). ps. I must say that umpires Buckner, Bowden and the Asian gent have been first class and possibly the best in the modern era, with respect to Messrs Bird and Shepherd.
