  1. I'm confused... Powell's own goal? From 70 yards? How'd that happen?
  2. hahah benhben you've done it twice now! Hope Nelsen's alright..
  3. 50 mins - David Bentley substitutes in for Ryan Nelsen (tactical) What the?
  4. McEveley ponders a move.. Would be a bit sad to see one of our brighter prospects go, but from the little I've seen, I don't think he's good enough.
  5. Someone tell me about Savage's antics, everyone says he was hilarious today!
  6. Finally got a chance to watch the full match today... I'll just add my impressions to everyone elses. I thought MGP had a very solid game, he was a real help on the defensive side of things, and he showed a few good touches further up the field. Gray on the other hand; I'm glad he doesn't have to face Ronaldo again this season. Ronaldo was running rings around the poor guy, and if it weren't for MGP's backtracking, we could've been in trouble. Once Ronaldo switched sides Gray looked better (and Neill got dizzied). Thank all that's holy that Ronaldo has no end product. Reid was amazing. I haven't seen him play in a while, but once he was moved central he was outstanding. I couldn't believe my eyes.. Bentley also had a very good game (of course anyone who scores a hattrick against Man Utd is has good game). I was mightily impressed with his array of skills, reflexes passing, shooting and willingness to run. Kuqi.. a lot of people have been slamming him, and to be honest if he had an ounce of skill he could've scored one or two.. but I think he plays a very important role for the team. The guy wins almost every header that comes to him, and we pumped a lot of long balls up to him. Along with this, he runs and runs and runs! Puts a lot of pressure on the opposition's defence. His first touch is cringe-worthy though. Savage was also excellent, proving his worth in recent weeks. I've written more than I intended to, I'll stop now... Good job Rovers! I'm proud..
  7. im not crazy about the shirt MGP was wearing.. i don't like how the front looks like a vest, and the logo isn't pretty either.. but then again it could be much worse!
  8. Yeah, we should put a poll just to see who people would prefer to partner Bellamy... I think it'd be interesting, as Dickov, Kuqi and Bentley all seem to have their supporters
  9. If Bentley's loan contract doesn't have some sort of clause, I say we unleash him.
  10. I find it interesting that Richard Lee was on the bench instead of Enks... Extremely happy about the result, Rovers are definitely on the up!
  11. I have a feeling Drogba will destroy Todd. Todd's not good enough in the air to deal with Drogba's aerial threat.
  12. Second half was much better, especially when our subs came on. Bentley made everyone look good, after he was brought on we strung passes together and I counted three backheels that successfully found their targets - we were much closer to being the Rovers team that I want to watch. Kuqi was far more of a threat than Jansen was, made Bolton's backline work hard, and he seems to be getting close to scoring his first goal. Emerton got better with Bentley too, and robbed the ball from Campo twice. I thought our worst performer was either Mokoena or Savage - their passing along with Reid's was pretty off. Zura performed well alongside Nelsen - on TV I can't tell them apart though! I think we benefited from his extra height and pace. Didn't seem suspect in the air either, like some have been suggesting. I'm pleased with the point, but I think from our second half performance we deserved three.
  13. My eyes crusted over watching the first half, I decided to walk back upstairs to the comp just to get my heart to pump again. I'm glad we haven't conceded, but bookings are coming in already, Reid'll get one for sure at this rate. Mokoena's passing has been poor, but I won't pick on him cause no one has really done anything worthwhile. Although I like Zura so far.
  14. I forgot to mention, the ref had an excellent game. I even thought it was a penalty at the end, till I saw the replay.
  15. Just watched game (delayed broadcast). First half was really bad. That said, the second half was fairly good... We actually managed to play a decent 442 for quite a while, and then even a 433 for a bit. The sad thing is... our best striker on the night was Johnson. I've tried to give Kuqi a chance, but hell, he is really awful. We're really missing a good passer of the ball in the middle of the park. And our set pieces were terrible today too. Onto the ratings (I find this fun for some reason) Friedel - 6 - I agree he messed up for Baros' goal. And he scared me by staying up for those last two corners... with pacy strikers like Phillips and Baros, could've been disasterous. Reid - 6 - Didn't impress at right back again but then again - I'm unimpressed with him in general. Todd - 6 -Just getting the feeling he's too short/slow to cut it.. Nelsen - 6 -Average. Matteo - 6 -Average. Emerton - 6 -For a player who can't defend, he doesn't contribute enough to the attack to justify his first team spot. Flitcroft - 6 -Hasn't changed since the last time I watched him play. Contributes nothing. Tugay - 6 -Solid game, but it was his stray pass that led to Villa's goal. Savage - 6 -HE DIDN'T GET BOOKED? Tidy on the ball, but dreadful set piece delivery. Pedersen - 6 -Solid, nothing special, bad corners. Kuqi - 3 -Runs all over but that doesn't excuse his awful performance. Gresko - 7 -I was pleased with him - defended well, won quite a few headers for a small guy. Jansen - 5 -Seemed good for about one minute then faded into obscurity. Johnson - 7 -Produced our only shot that Sorensen had to deal with, speedy little bugger. Disappointed with the result, but can't say we deserved anything after our first half performance. Why can't we play well for both halves instead of just one?
  16. Before the game, I was worried because I thought Tottenham would be too good for us... After the game I feel like we were robbed of the 3 points. So I guess a draw leaves me content, but nothing more. Friedel - 8 - Didn't have to do much, but did pluck several balls out of the air with authority. Neill - 6 - Solid game until the sending off... Still not sure if it was a second yellow or a straight red. Todd - 6 - Stupid for the headbutt. As soon as I saw the replay I knew it had to be Todd. Nelsen - 8 - Only one uneasy moment but he dealt with it well, one great last ditch interception. Matteo - 7 - I can't wait till Gresko is ready to play. Matteo is very solid, but is useless at supporting Pedersen. Emerton - 8 - Surprised me, he was much better today - although he is a bit of a pansy for a big guy. Savage - 7 - Decent game, deserved his booking, had one great free kick then a bunch of bad ones. Reid - 6 - Invisible. Starting to really want a new central mid, as he did nothing really. Didn't even play well as a right back. Tugay - 8 - Pulled some sweet tricks and seems to be the only player who can create something. A bit slow on the ball though. Pedersen - 8 - Was excellent today, created most of our chances (and that was with Matteo in support!). Dead balls were poor though. Kuqi - 6 - Woeful finishing. Could have won us the game. However he does seem comfortable in a 4-5-1. Johnson and Mokoena didn't have a chance to impress (thankfully neither did Defoe). I am encouraged by the fact that we created decent chances - hopefully Kuqi will find his feet and stick a few away soon.
  17. Pedersen Tugay They look nice from these stills... Can't wait to see it on tv!
  18. From SkySports.com: From the resultant corner Warner had to produce an acrobatic tip over to prevent Pedersen scoring direct from the set-piece, and Neill's fine run and attempted chip drifted just over. I don't know who mentioned it, but I'm looking forward to when Pedersen scores direct from a corner as well!
  19. Watched the game on TV from Singapore with my West Ham supporting friend... and I am apalled. First of all, Mokoena - center back, my left pinky toe! I think he ended up being just slightly worse than Todd today (who happened to be awful). Emerton contributed absolutely nothing except an anti-assist. Pedersen's utter lack of pace was all too evident today (in fact, the whole team's pace was shocking compared to Wham's). Kuqi and Bellamy didn't do diddlysquat either. The only players who weren't terrible were: Friedel, Matteo and Neill. Thank goodness Harewood sucks so bad. That man couldn't finish his own lunch. I hope Nelsen is the answer to our problems or that Upton Park just really isn't our hunting ground, because we were played off the pitch.
  20. Nissa handballed for Leicester giving away a penalty in Sheffield's 4-1 victory. Not a promising start
  21. Who's Fredici? According to the official site, he's playing for Rovers tonight.
  22. From the games I've seen, I'd be pleased if we kept Neill. When he goes forward he isn't one of those full backs that hugs the line to try and get a cross in, he likes to cut in, and is quite good at it too. He seems to have a good understanding with Emerton, and gets quite a few good blocks in. I'll agree that he seems to struggle with pacy wingers though... I vote for just getting him some competition.
