  1. As the month comes to an end I know I'm eagerly anticipating your March review...No pressure though! Great review as always, Bob, and even though the month thus far has been somehwat dry I know you'll pull some magic outta your ars...erm...hat.
  2. ergh...yes, yes it is a full 9 days after Sunderland...rest for our big guns may not be the order of the day... sorry lads, I'll be getting my coat now...
  3. I wonder if we shouldn't start Bellers on the bench in order to rest him for the more important Wigan match on Monday. Maybe we could see a Pongo/Bentley-Dickov match-up. I'd hate to overlook Sunderland, but if our big guns can be rested against Wigan then we'd have that much more of a chance to batter 'em and get them down beneath us to where we won't have to worry about 'em. Maybe we just put our big guns on a short leash. Whatever the case I see a comfy win in the cards.
  4. Robson's reaction was tempermental but not extreme. Calling him a umm...cigarette...was a little harsh, but I'm sure managers call their counterparts, the ref's, the opposition players, their own squad, their own staff, their mothers, their mother's friends, etc. worse during the course of a game. Mourinho was hilarious because he didn't start his run-up on Robson until there were about 15 stewards between them, and then only calls Robson a erm...kittycat after Robson had walked away. A Manc or not, I was hoping that Robson would stomp all over Mourinho's gob. Mourinho has gotten considerably worse this season. His antics against Barcelona highlighted how much of a brat he is. After the sending off of Del Horno (Robben was flying around worse than Asier that game, by the way) he had the nerve to say that Barca never beat them 11 on 11. Well no sh!t, Sherlock. But they did beat you 11 on 10 when it really should have been 11 on 9. What we're seeing from Mourinho is how manager's act when they are under pressure. It is evident that he and Abramovich covet the Champ's League cup more than the Premiership. Otherwise everyone at Chelsea would be happy little campers.
  5. Hello all, I looking at the club's shop over the official web-site I did not see a section of DVD's. I thought the club puts together a season highlights DVD (no matter how dire the season). If this is the case can you purchase past season's highlights or only from the most current season? Any help would be appreciated.
  6. The work permit tghing is really chapping my ass. I can't get besagno or Lebohang, so I have to rely on Henrik Larsson and Bellamy, not too bad, really. Wigan has also been my saviour as they offered 1.4 million for Matteo and 800k for Kuqi. Helped immensely in the Larsson purchase, but @#/? Porto wouldn't even accept my 6 mill offer for benni. i didn't have that money, mind you, I just wanted to see if they'd go for it. great game, just bogs my computer down to a crawl...
  7. I'm not subscribing to the whole "They always beat us tripe". They are a bad football team and we are a good football team. does that mean we automatically get the 3 points? No, but it DOES mean that we SHOULD get the three points. Of course our past form has blown that logic out of the water, but I still maintain that we will win this one in a fairly comfy manner. 3-1 Bellamy-Bellamy-Reid-Kyle will Gamst be taking part? If not I'd like to see Sergio get a start.
  8. I don't think the ol' ticker could take extra time...so I'm gunning for the win!
  9. Criminey's! It's bad enough that we have to go INTO Old Trafford needing a win to advance but now we'll be going in with our 3rd and 4th choice strikers (Kuqi-Bentley). Let's just hope our midfield maestro's can supply the scoring because I'm guessing Kuqi qill be the lone striker with Bentley hanging behind... Man, the confidence level has just plummetted... Still holding out for a 1-0 smash-and-grab for the blue & White halves...Kuqi to score in the 85th minute as he trips over his own feet knocking Van der Sar back and the ball rolls into the goal...works for me!!!
  10. Hughesy's put in print what all of us fans have been thinking all along. Rovers can scratch and claw for survival or fight annually for Europe. All up to the board...
  11. That elbow was not intentional. He wasn't looking at van Persie when the Dutchman ran full into him. Only after Todd's elbow (which was held to his side and not extended) was buried in his face did he instinctively react and throw his elbow out to deflect who/whatever hit him. he would have done the same thing if a fellow Rover would've bungled into him. It was just happenstance. I watched it over and over again with and without my Rovers shirt on and objectively you'd have to stretch pretty far to say it was intentional. If you want to strip Todd his captaincy because he's dirty then I think you are watching the wrong evidence. Todd has had lapses in judgement, sure, but who hasn't in their professional career? With that, he's still no thug. Your personal bias is getting in the way of facts and objectivity.
  12. To further that, who in blazes would we replace him with? Bentley? No thanks. Emerton? Please no. Sergio? Maybe but not straight away. Whilst we have more pressing areas of strengthening (striker, better left back coverage) I believe Gamst should be left alone. Maybe the schedule is getting to him and a few more rests are needed for the lad but criminey's he's still a young lad and still only a little over a year in the English game. He's maturing before our eyes and we can't yank back on the leash because of his at times frustrating play. He has to learn by playing. Now if he is still the same player this time next year then yes I will agree that his growth has topped out and he needs to possibly be replaced, but at this stage it's just too early to call the lad a waste.
  13. Disappointing and frustrating. Yes it was great to see a Rovers match instead of listening to it over the internet, but my goodness was it a brutal affair. Riley's desire to have more face time on the telly became evident once again as there were more cards thrown around than at a 52 car pick-up competition, but I actually think Nakata's sending off was justified. The tactics had me flabbergasted when I saw the Bentley-Dickov pairing. Good to hear that there was SOME reason as to why Bellamy was sat on the bench for over an hour. The inactivity on Hughes' part to change the tactics after the sending off was a might bit questionable as well. But in all fairness to Hughesy, the squad out there (excluding the exclusion of Bellamy) SHOULD have been able to break through and at least pressure Jussi. I think Reid is failing in auditioning for Tugay's successor. Too many of his shots were wide and he takes them from too far when there are passes that could be made to free some one a bit closer for a shot. The lad needs to quit getting tunnel vision when he's 45 yards out and in front of the goal. Every defense in the league will give him those 30-40 yard shots every day and he's got to realize that passing the ball is an option as well. On Bolton's tactics I think it actually shows how much they respect us as to how they played for the draw even before the Nakata send off. I don't like it one bit, mind you, but when an opponent is playing not to lose then it shows a bit of respect. This draw will be much more palatable if we can get a win next week against the Toon!! Let's add to their misery!!
  14. dillo dillo has inspired me... Gamst Norwegian starlet Flying around the park-wet Swiftly, smoothly Gamst haha I feel cheesy just typing that...
  15. Smith's slap on the wrist will fuel a huge thread of referee favoritism...Doubt I'll even be able to see the incident...
  16. It's good to see Ferguson is adding to the level of my disgust for him. His 1st eleven couldn't even turn us over earlier in the year so his confidence is pretty ballsy. Whatever the case, if ManU play like they did on Saturday our lads better not play down to their level and only run out winners by a goal. We need to get a few of them in hand so as not to be under THAT much pressure at the Traff... Makes the game tomorrow that much more delicious!
  17. As much as Rio can't defend Duncan Ferguson, I'm thinking maybe Kuqi should start. But then again, coming on as a sub 20 minutes from time is not bad either. The central midfield has to be Sav and Tugay. Worked the best so far this season...and if Matteo starts anywhere on the pitch I give up...
  18. I've been kind of keeping an eye on the progress of the ID cards as I can see our "great and illustrious" git of a leader adopting the same plan after he sees how it goes over in the UK. Worries me because it will be just another opportunity to profile racially and with his track record of spying domestically so far, I wouldn't put it past him to adopt such a plan even IF it goes over very badly in the UK...
  19. Good to hear he at least showed up to play and that the crowd recognized him with more than a boo or something. And that's why I couldn't understand why Hollo didn't start him. I mean you play in front of your boyhood team AND your family and friends, you usually play better than usual...But then I guess Hollo had some expectation that he'd actually win or something daft like that!
  20. So I was talking to a mate of mine from Liverpool and he had told me a good while back about ID cards being issued to British citizens and if you're caught without yours you could/would be brought in and questioned or fined or whatever. At the time I just thought it was a knee-jerk reaction to the Atocha railroad bombing in Madrid, but I've seen the issue come up in passing in Brit press and I wanted to know whether there was a real possibility of it passing or if it is just for the xenophobes to drool about. Can anyone shed any light on this?
  21. Otherwise great result for Rovers!! As mentioned already if we were put to the test or even lost(gasp!) our confidence would be shot for the mid-week match. But we ran out legitimate winners and we didn't slip on the banana peel that this match could have very well been. The team is showing us that we shouldn't fear the "inevitable" after winning a few games. Hughes better watch out, though, because with wins come expectations and I think we're all coming with our expectations of at LEAST a top ten finish to the season. How different from the past two years, but how refreshing! How did that Ainsworth lad perform? did he play "inspired" football in front of his old team and home crowd or was he as mediocre as the rest of his mates? Did he get any reaction at all from the crowd?
  22. Man, it is hard to look past ManU to this game, especially since our confidence could be soaring with a win or down in the pits with a drubbing. But I'd wager we'll win this one in a ugly match. Friedel will be tested early and often and with a scrappy performance Rovers come out on top 2-1 with Super-sub Kuqi getting the winner in the last 10 minutes of the game... Oh yeah and good preview ozzie...it was good to step into the Way-Way Back Machine...even though it wasn't always great fun...
  23. I think Rainmaker had a bit too much Aqavit(?)
  24. If I were Nelsen I'd go back to the press state that I'd give a arseload of money to a charity of the FA's liking and say what I pleased. That is if I were rolling in the dosh... A Basketball owner did that over here. Donated a huge amount (I want to say a million bucks but that could be wrong) to a charity and had his say. Brilliant!
