Szmodics absolutely irate at Morton and Trav for not stepping the pressure higher. Clearly not in the same page -

Morton with a very dangerous give away there after BBD touch looked more like one from Gally. -

Really wish we would have gotten that Undav deal over the line in January. Would have been a massive help today and for the push. -

I think the 2 midfielders are asked a lot in this system, often out numbered and really forced to play deeper, win the ball and distribute wide. Goals and assists aren’t really a major part of their roles. Both centroids seem to be asked play more like a 6 than a 6 and an 8. -

A bit harsh on those 3. The way we’re set up, all three play deeper roles. -

Had the Undav deal not fallen through, I have imagine we’d be pushing for top2 -

Games like this scream out our need for a true center forward. If we had a true goal scorer would have won 3-1. Morton should be dropped but not sure for who? Garrett possibly, A. Wharton but both very green for final push. Too bad Bucko is out. -

Amongst all the poor performances up top, Hayden Carter has been fantastic -

Birmingham seemed to come out this half wanting to press higher. Great time to bring Diaz on for those long diagonals -

It’s been worse. Hasn’t gifted them a goal. -
£8 million on 25% odds to return £150 million seems like a good bet. Even at 15% chance it’s a good bet. Provided £8 million loss doesn’t matter to you, as it doesn’t to billionaires in another country who could give a toss about the community.

But if you believed what TM was saying at the time, “he’s banging them in in training…” then they had to have seen some potential. Maybe could have gotten him on a long term deal with very low wages. At that time he likely would have taken any offer we gave him.
-
Agreed but he’s going somewhere else for free in the summer either way.

If you’re to believe GB, this couldn’t have been true as it would have had to been reported to Rovers by Viareal Doesnt matter anyway as he’s not going to be here next year anyway. Highlights the utter stupidity of the last regime letting so many players run their contracts down and walk for free.

Agree with most on here regarding the subs. A change was needed as the game was much to open, but felt the problem was the numerical disadvantage in midfield. Esther than going 5 at the back would rather have seen us sacrifice Szmodics or Gally for a deeper midfielder. Garret or A Wharton would have helped balance the field without sitting too deep. Our high press was pretty unsuccessful all afternoon so setting a lower line of confrontation for the last 10+ min made sense.

Agreed. Played well, on another day we win 3-1. Mistakes made, substitute botched, chances missed but that happens every match. The tempo and pace were top class. Massively disappointing not to advance but glad we didn’t sit back (until the last 15 min) and go out trying not to lose. The lads can move forward knowing that for the next 9+ matches they can get the better of any side.
