I just watched the post match interview of JDY and I must say he looks a little down, has stress written all over his face. Nit the bright smiling cheery character he has been. Is reality setting in? Is he now realizing he may have bitten iff more than he can chew. I still have faith but does he?

Any game plan around counter attacking relies on pace. We have none.
We lost Armstrong and Rothwell who both had it and replaced them with er, erm.
We have pace he chooses to not play it though, Markanday looks quick to me and he can't get a kick in the league

Is he? The team spirit always seemed good in his tenure and I thought that he developed especially the younger players very well, Brereton, Buckley, Travis are 3 good examples.
Always had his people skills as pretty good, he developed players well, but tactics were not his main strength.
He dropped Travis as soon as he could after he played really well. Nyambe, Buckley, Rothwell he dropped and/or hooked after they.olayed really well. I think they all had games where they were very forward thinking, looking to get the ball to attack quickly. Each if them did not return until they went sideways/backwards with regularity. IMHO Mowbary is THE reason Lenihan, Nyambe and Rothwell could not wait to get out if here.
Can also throw in the mix, Harrison Reed, who he told to learn from Smallwood and Evans when Reed was hands down a better player the both of them out together. Puts Giles on the right wing and tells the whole world that is his best position, bollox. Look at him go without ToMo.
He has destroyed Gallagher as a player playing him where he is totally ineffective, shot his confidence to hell. Bad mouthing players in public is not good man management.

If bringing back Szmodics is seen as the answer I’m not sure if people understand what the problem is. I’ve never been as underwhelmed by a signing since the last underwhelming signing. And we paid about £2m for him apparently. This is becoming Mowbray-esque. ….. juggling around a set of inadequate players albeit with a different cast
Very concerned about this lad Szmodics he looks a million miles from championship quality. Other than the one goal which was a good finish he has done nothing of note.

Given that Wigan usually bully us (The extra little barge on Dack that I say caused his 1st ACL) and we wuss out, guven we are still finding ourselves and we don't have players of the quality JDT needs to okay his way ut's another somewhat embarrassing loss.
Unless JDT figures out a way to play that suits his current crop until he has what he wants we will continue to look lost on the pitch at times. Still feel JDT can pull this off. When his 1st choice defence is availabe we will be better.
Why does he not fancy Markanday looked good to me in the 2 cup games

It should have sunk in to JDT by now he does not have the players to olay his way. He needs to figure out a different style until he does. Can he? Dunno. Hoping so

Thought Bristol looked a good outfit, better than us in every deparment. Thiught we kooked leggy and sluggish all over the pitch today. No need to panic yet.

Hard to call this one, new faces, new tactics, injuries, JDT, how will we play, can we get TWO good halves. Lot of uncertainty for me BUT at the same time there is a level of excitement about us that I have not had for sometime. Even when we were second last year there was a nagging certainty that we would blow it. This "journey" could go either way, gut feel it will be good.

Vale seems to be preferred to Markanday so of the two I assume Markanday would be loaned out. Szmodics plays as a #10, same position as Dack. Hedges has looked his best playing there too - so it's 10 for 4 positions, really.
He seems to be rather cold on Markanday for some reason.

After Wharton's class act last night I just had a gut feeling Buckley is off to Sunderland tomorrow, Thursday K

Could well be a bigger talent than Phillips this lad.

Best 45 mins I have seen from Pickering in a long long time too
Josh who? I think Bowler's price tag has just been cut 50% by that no good Pickering.
If that's 4 mil you are kidding he did nothing all game really. Certainley did not influence it at all. Poveda looked lively. We finally beat one if our (crap) ex managers away.
Loved the 2nd half effort. Ran out of steam a bit but if we ever get good at this approach and style of play and drop the Mowbary habit of playing one half only this could be at least an exciting Journey.

Expecting Styles , Archer, Fry, Barkley , Bowler,Hirst ,a back up RB from a European club ,a sub goalkeeper, a midfield enforcer to get done .
My source Alan Nixon reckons Broughton has pulled off a worldie aswell.A wee gem he described it.
He said Kean was a wee gem too

A good move for Mowbray. I had expected his next move to be to a lge 1 club so he's done well.
He's a solid manager who will easily keep Sunderland up but no more than that. A good man-manager who is a shrewd operator in the loan market. He's not a good tactician though and never really sorted out our defensive issues in his tenure here. No doubt he did a good job here though and I'm sure he'll do well at Sunderland too.
I think he is a terrible man manager. Good at killing players natural attributes and shooting their confidence to hell.

I think we will play well and lose due to lack of ability to score. Gonna get testy for a while.

Think we need a Danny Graham type and a Jermaine Jones type. Or a BBD type that knows how to stay onside.

Most of us want him to start on Wed but with JDT we don't know what he'll do,i would have said Markanday deserved at least a place on the bench yesterday but was shoved off to the u21's
So that's what happened to Markanday, and here's me thinkin he deserved a start. What's he done? Anyway this is Wharton's thread. I have seen this kid 3 times and I love him. I think he will be a big big player for us. Buckley should be worried I think

Needs time. My feeling are mixed see some positives but yet concerned. He does not have the players he needs to play his way. As in most of our lot aren't capable The young uns and second string seem to have taken it on board better. (lower league opponents help perhaps). Buckley.to.me looks like he's on a sulk, young Wharton outshine him so much. Call these academy lads kids.and too young but some of em may quickly become mainstays if the bug boys don't buck up.

Markanday, Hedges and Wharton for me next game.,..
100% agree. He should have brought on Hedges instead of Dolan. Anithers game outcome heavily influenced by a bad bad official. Why us an elbow in the face in the box not a pen. I can appreciate letting the game flow and not calling all the heavy challenges but a foul us a foul is a foul. Hands arms elbows not allowed. Constant pushing and holding but they knew they would get away it. I don't think so.e if these first teamers have the technical ability to play JDT football. Some if them will be replaced by the Academy lads. I love the look of the younger Wharton. Can he come in for the ineffective Buckley? This kid played really well and has a really good pass on him and the vision to go with it. For me he starts next game. Morton starts, Hedges and .arkanday too. I think today JDT gave a few players a final chance to prove themselves, they failed. Poor first touches sloppy passes. Yes I think we will be seeing more of the younger ones and in Wharton and Markanday we have two little gems. Back to looking up at the Dingles, buggar.

Watched the replay and zi can not remember.the last time zi could use entertaining and exciting in the same sentence as Rovers.
I thiught Markanday looked good, a couple of his 360's with the ball were very Meccyesque. Good footwork, looks promising to me. Anyway enjoyed the performance. Throws down a good marker to the regulars, buck up ir a replacement is ready to take your spot.

5 years ago id be happy with this, seems very odd, he's not a ball playing CB? He's a tough tackler yeah but now 30 years old, just doesn't seem the type of signing JDT would want..I'm on the fence if I'm going to be brutally honest, he has championship experience etc just seems a really odd signing [if true]
Stand in for Ayala's imminent injury.

Honestly we are fucked.
7 days and absolutely nothing on the horizon.
6 signings needed.
If rumours are to be believed we could have all 6 ready to sign but the signings would not be approved by Venks till a week after the window closes So, we are stuffed We will NOT get Van anyone either.

4-0 to Bradford I said, happy I was wrong. Encouraged the performance was good. Even more so since the good performance was by the second string (3rd in some cases) especially after two poor showings by the first team. This, and Hartlepool game, should lay down a warning that lads are ready to take the shirt from the less than good performers, this is good.
Hiw was young Wharton last night, he really really impressed me in the last round. Surely he is knocking on the door, should any if our first teamers be worried. The lad seems to read the game well and looks to be able to pick a pass, a couple against pool did not come off but to me that was down to the recieving player nit being wise to what was coming. Is he ready for a championship game?

On the BBD saga. I find myself thinking there is already an under the table agreement with a team. BBD told to run out the contract and reap the rewards personally by saving his new club 15 mill or so.

With all due respect games on Saturday should go ahead. To me it is no lack of respect to play them. A welcome distraction at this time for most I would think.
