These things happen mate, especially with our club, they are horrendous at getting stuff going and over the line. i mentioned a few names last season we were far down the road with, they didn’t come off and a few on here were only to glad to throw it back in my face , so I don’t give up much info here anymore. it’s a shame a few rotten apples spoil it for the rest. I was the first to report interest in rob Elliot weeks back however, I see that’s rearing up again. Would say that’s got potential
-
Iv not heard anything today, they are being even more covert than usual if something comes off.
-
Nope pure speculation, I don’t love McKenna but more highly regarded than Lindsay , probably wouldn’t be the worst idea
-
Wouldn’t be surprised to see us do a deal for scott McKenna at Aberdeen. Cash plus mulgrew with us subsiding a large part of his wages as Aberdeen wouldn’t be able to afford them
-
We are neck and neck with Preston though, in fact they have been above us in recent years. They have a better manager, better recruitment so that’s why we are looking up at them. we are leaking money like oil, hence why the chequebook has now been put away, we are relying on freebies, loans or bargains. We won’t be making any 3-4 mill signing this season. you mentioned those clubs you believe we are bigger than but still in a head to head with a signing, we will often lose. Between money, location of club, fan base etc etc we are not one of the leagues heavyweights by any means. We are where we are- slap bang in the middle of the league for finances, league position, reputation some folk need a reality pill, I’m all for optimism but really
-
Because we have been poorly managed for over a decade, including relegation into league one from an established premiership team. we are also an unfashionable team so we don’t have the pull of sponsorships/tv money/merchandise our fan base is relatively small and out attendances are poor yet we are still paying a fairly large squad decent championship wages - hence we don’t make what we put in. That’s why we lose money
-
Think your mad if you believe we are on equal footings with a good 10-12 of the clubs in the league.
-
In terms of finances and reputation I would say we are now looking at mid table of the champ, so any team from our position upwards from the table last season and the three that came down and you have a pretty good marker. when we go toe to toe with a transfer with one of them we usually don’t come out on top we are where we are, we need to get some luck with recruitment and pluck some gems from abroad or down the league chain or have a manager that’s way more savvy than other champs managers to get out this league- currently we don’t look to have either weapon in our arsenal
-
Unfortunately in our position with finances, we are a move behind getting the likes of kipre. We should’ve been getting him from Motherwell, not 2 years later when he is an established good quality champ centre back with prospect of going higher. We can’t compete with the top half of the champ/bottom half of the prem so we need to box more clever. Our recruitment team is currently pretty poor imo as the goalkeeping saga shows
-
Kipre is decent, can’t comment on the keeper as I don’t know him, looks decent on YouTube but concerning pushing ball back into danger in a few clips. its a decent start but I’m still 3-4 signings short of being optimistic about promotion
-
We lost out on mcginn but his replacement is pretty decent- Stevie Mallan. If we managed to offload one of ours
-
Agree , we don’t have enough goals with current lot. It might be bluster with somebody lined up though
-
For the points I mentioned, we gave him a good and respectful deal last season, he could show the same back. From what Iv heard he has been offered same terms as last year but he is hoping for something better or a return to boro. We need to know if we have a position to fill and wages to use up, of course I’m thinking about the clubs view, no room for sentiment in this business and this time of year
-
Sign or say your not signing, rodwell all over again. We don’t have time to pee about
-
Downing can do one as far as I’m concerned. Giving the fingers to the club and fans, there wasn’t a clamour to sign him last season, there will be even less now, we have gave him good game time, fan support and a decent wage, if he wanted to sign again he would’ve by now. He was ok last season, I wouldn’t say set the place alight , you can be replaced with a younger model as far as I’m concerned, see ya
-
Technically not true it’s just we play forwards out there instead of actual wide men but I think we are looking at a few players that can give us width
-
My info isn’t that reliable these days, Covid playing havoc. Free’s and cheap European I believe is what we will see. We are still short in a lot of areas, all across defence, wingers and a replacement for graham. I expect another 4, 2 loans
-
No, was just told that it was more than likely our next keeper would be coming from abroad and cheap. Mentioned that Russian lad from the Swiss league so not surprised it’s a European league keeper. Would not be surprised if our second keeper was someone experienced and free - like rob Elliot
-
Likes a dribble this lad, Tony will have a heart attack
-
Our foreign market scouting network seem to have stopped at Germany and only Germany. Every name I’m getting is a German division player - most pretty unheard of
-
Don’t know him to be honest, last played with sion in Switzerland
-
Some rumblings Iv heard although the main one being we are very tight with money and nothing is remotely close lindsay deal looking complicated- starting to look at alternatives. Elliot Moore and bailey wright mentioned- neither close. goalkeepers- looking at the freebs foreign market but issues getting them over to look at- fancy mitryushkin but nowhere near front of the queue other freebs - timo letschert. We raided the Hamburg cast offs last season, probably nothing mowbray wants an experienced striker to replace graham as he knows current mob are inexperienced- wants to talk to chris Martin to see if wages could be Negotiated. Too high currently. rudy gestede has also been put in front of mowbray but seems unlikely believe Cunningham will end up back here. a few loans will also be coming from the usual sources- big clubs youngsters might just be one keeper coming with fisher promoted to back up
-
None sorry, my contacts aren’t in their usual office so away from day to day dealings. In the dark as much as everyone else. Frustrated by our lack of getting deals in early though. Usual last minute panic ahead
-
I find mowbrays tenure more frustrating than any other rovers manager in history, including the ones we all hate. Just edges ahead of bowyer but at least bowyer was good at the transfer game
-
Look to be slow on the uptake and clubs nicking in front of us again. Nobody else bored by the repetitive nature of Blackburn just now, needs a shot in the arm. I for one need a change as I currently have no motivation for this team and regime. If we don’t it’s another season of looking like we might have promise to ultimately fall back into mid table when the heat gets turned up a notch
