If we could get £3m - £4m for Hyam in the last 12 months of his contract, then it’s a great deal. But the fact it’s on deadline day and we all know we won’t get a competent replacement in, we can’t let him go this late.

It depends on what academy you come through to be designated a home grown player. Eric Dier, born in Cheltenham and an England international. Came through the Sporting Lisbon academy so was never classed as ‘home grown’ when playing in England 🙃

Yes you’re right, early days but the player I was on about was very dominant in second division scoring 52 goals in two seasons. 3 games in and hasn’t scored yet and has history of not scoring in the first division. Main point is scoring loads in the second division of Dutch football isn’t a sign of a great player.

Go Ahead Eagles won the Dutch cup last season beating AZ on penalties. Smit played the whole game (didn’t score or assist). I’ve been watching a bit of the Dutch second division since visiting FC Volendam in February. Their striker scorer 52 goals in two seasons at the second division level. Now playing in the Eredivisie he hasn’t scored a goal this season, it seems to be quite a big jump in class from the second division to the Eredivisie.

I don’t think he will…I remember one player who moved to Saudi regretted the move and wanted to come back. But due to tax reasons they had to stay in Saudi for at least two years or they would lose a load of their money. I can’t remember off the top of my head who the player was? They mentioned it on a podcast/interview after coming back to England.

Buckley is such a weird one, looks to be a decent player, with an eye for a pass but looks and plays like he couldn’t give a shit 🤣 JDT, Eustace and Val haven’t fancied him so it’s probably best for all parties that he moves on. Will be paid a shit load in Saudi and the level and tempo of football over there will suit him.
