We’ve agreed a deal in principle with McFadzean as early as 17 June 2024. For him to not be signed and taking part in pre-season is very worrying. If we can’t get a 37 year old, who’s rejected offers from other clubs on a free, how are we going to afford loans? We’ll be begging Premier League clubs for freebie loans for players like Billy Koumetio who won’t improve the squad one bit.

Steven Caulker has done an interview about his career this week. I knew we were linked with Caulker but hadn’t realised we’d offered him a two year contract. Offering someone a contract and then reducing it last second is straight out of the Steve Waggott playbook 😬

We definitely need more pace in the squad and especially out wide. My point was more in relation to the championship standard players we have at the minute. Portsmouth need to sign players to compete at this level and can guarantee Murphy will play most games. We already have at least three championship standard wide players so he wouldn’t be guaranteed the start games. He would have been a nice option off the bench, but I don’t think he would have wanted to be a bench player.
