Lenihan is definitely future captain but my choice would be Johnson despite being a new signing. He is likely to be an ever-present in the lineup, has bags of experience and seems to lead on the field as it is. he will only be around for a season or two anyway and by that time, Lenihan can take over the reigns.

Come on! Travis and Buckley are puppies - they may be one day better than him but not now. We'd be fighting off bids if they were. Johnson too, he is the closest in ability but at an age where he is not viable to many clubs. We didn't really have much competition to sign him did we. Fulham should have just picked him up on a free. Whenever i visited opposition fans forums last season, there were only two players that were commonly mentioned from our team that they would like to have - Dack and Reed.

Why didn't Fulham bid for Bennett then? Reed is better than Travis (at the moment), different style but younger than Johnson and definitely better than Evans and Smallwood. I said last season that a top promotion-aiming side will snap up Reed this season and it has happened. We kept playing him out of position, he also got told publicly that he needed to learn from Evans and Smallwood on how to play midfield. Of course he would choose a recently relegated side that is splashing the cash over us in order to fulfil his dreams of being a PL player but all of the previous would hardly have even made him have the smallest of re-thinks.

At least he could have covered RB. Better there than EB. Probably why it broke down though - stiff competition for CM spots now as good as he was last season.

Its still a very light defense but if this goes through, we have at least removed two of the biggest culprits (Mulgrew and Bell) from the starting lineup. Get Nyambe in and thats all of them. We just dont have much depth which is worrying. Perhaps a freebie can be signed short term and we work on defence in TM fashion again next season.
