  1. That is probably because we spend all game hoofing it up to him to be fair. There are not going to be many fullbacks as tall as SG, so winning the headers should be a forgone conclusion most of the time.
  2. The two directly to the right of your dad (as we look), are a couple of big lads. Not so much the guy next in line, they look like they could eat him for breakfast. My speronal favourite though, the guy furthest to the right at the front.
  3. Two clubs on the brink of destruction and you want us to start headhunting there? How many of these mourning fans are going to just shrug and say 'okay then'? Let the dust settle.
  4. So now we're saying that Gallagher is as good and UGLY as our PL winning wingers? He isnt a winger for one and those two at the time, were among the best in the league 'above' - for one season they were the best.
  5. Done OK? Been one of the top 3 performers in our team in each of the seasons he has been here. Last season, POTY, year before close but second only to Dack.
  6. Not sure about the clamour for Downing at LB. Has he ever played there? He has a bit of pace for his age but he is not the most mobile and would get turned inside out by a flying winger? Besides that, he has been doing some great stuff where he is and we would lose that. Has to be Bell, Williams or Hart at LB - Bell and Williams there scares the pants off me particularly with Bennett on the right and Hart, well, he is pretty much untested at this level.
  7. But again, why fix something if its not broke (currently and on recent form)? We shouldn't be messing around too much with formations just to accommodate a player who is on loan when we have just won three on the trot doing what we are doing.
  8. Yes it does seem the days of Smallwood and Evans are officially over. They are really pushing Buckley to progress this season - he is now ahead of both of them it would seem right now.
  9. Williams misplaced a pass right in front of TM on the touchline and the camera's and microphones picked up TM shouting "Fuck off Derrick"
  10. That's the issue, City wont want the lad not playing. He doesn't want to play RB but how can we break up a CB pairing with stats like the above? Can see City recalling him in January. Guess we could play him against Cardiff and put Williams at LB for a match.
  11. Very funny as I expect many of us said exactly the same thing at the same time. Someone posted the clip on here somewhere.
  12. Oh for sure. Fine margins. If penalty went in, we were punished for our mistakes, Arma was arguably offside and impeding the keeper, Cunningham could easily have conceded a penalty. We also hit the woodwork on three occasions though, SG probably should have went for goal, Armas big chance. All fine margins and it could so easily have been different. I think people are just very impressed with certain aspects. Downing was a signing that even the most optimistic would have been a little surprised about given his age and our recent history when signing players at that stage of their career. Williams performance another aspect that has really surprised people last night. Walton too, very steady in the sticks. We look more comfortable in the last 15-minutes of matches too, which is very refreshing, last season you could almost bet your house that we would be conceding. The defence as a unit has been improved but is also very thin. Experience has brought better game management. Can only take positives from last night really. August was always going to be a difficult month on paper (even though Mercer now calls Boro and Hull ordinary) and despite a rough start, we have turned things around nicely.
  13. Shakey for a spell in the first half where we gave away sloppy balls and couldnt deal with Grosiski but after that, we looked the better side for most of the match. All could have been different if the penalty went in but football is a game of fine margins and for once, we were on the right side of them. Bowen is classed as one of, if not the best, players in this division and we kept him quiet in the main. Cunningham and Downing have to take immense credit for that. Conversely, Grosiscki had the other flank to himself at times. Williams, what can I say that hasnt already been said? Guy has taken a lot of flack in the past couple of seasons at LB but boy, keep this up at CB and you will quickly become one of the most popular players on the terraces. Even Hull fans raving about him wishing they had someone like him at the back. Downing, model professional. You can see why he has spent so long at the top of the game. Cultured, professional, rarely makes a bad decision, still has a fair bit of pace and a fantastic left peg. Cunningham, I knew he would be a big upgrade but that is easy to say with what he has to compete with for that spot. Massive reason for keeping one of their dangerman at bay. Defensively good but also offers a lot going forward as well. Get him in permanent Tony! Johnson - Does lots that is good but is also prone to doing lots that is wrong. Great left peg, a unit in the middle, good in the air. Just he gets caught alot in the middle, which hopefully can be ironed out. Travis - Fairly similar to what I just said about Johnson. They are a big upgrade on Evans/Smallwood that is for sure but Travis, like Johnson was responsible for giving the ball away quite a bit. Hopefully as they further gel, this will be cut out a bit more down the line. That said, Batty in CM for them impressed me and perhaps he was a part of the reason - once he went off, the two controlled midfield quite easily. Dack - Few sparks of what we know he can do. I think he is still coming to terms of this new style and what it requires of him. I prefer him further up the pitch where he can make those late runs. Did not see that last night at all, don't think he even had a single shot? Still, showed some great control vision and creativeness at times and is still our talisman. Walton - More a poor penalty than a great save but it certainly gave his confidence a huge lift. Came for some big balls and claimed every single one of them. Bennett - Had a torrid time for a lot of the first half but he was up against one of the best wingers in the division. Can never fault his passion and drive and it is not his fault he is being picked at RB. Got better in the second half and made one tackle in particular that was fantastic. Still, its an area we really need to strengthen. Arma and Gallacher, not really through much fault of their own, plenty of effort and endeavor but not much else. Gallacher is not a winger and neither is Arma, SG doesnt have the burst pace and tricks while Arma has the pace but is a one-trick pony with a poor final ball. Id be getting Rothwell or Chapman in on the right. TM - Cant fault him for this game. Finally starting to see some shoots from this new style but its early days.
  14. TM has beaten Hull more times than any other team as manager. Draw would be decent but I think we might just nick something here if Dack and DG are on the field.
  15. Bury have been omitted from the Carabao Cup and have had their League One fixture against Tranmere Rovers suspended, due to further clarification being needed regarding the club's financial obligations. More to follow...
  16. Quite a crock there. DG is essential to the way play due to what he contributes on the pitch. You just have to look at the goals against Oldham to see what he brings to this side. His knockdowns and his chemistry with Dack is pivotal for us right now. In fact, take DG off like against Boro and we instantly start to struggle. He will get close to 20-goals this season if used consistently, mark my words.
  17. The team put in a real shift last time out and for that reason all deserve to keep their places. If we can keep that level of grafting but produce a bit more quality, think we could have a decent season. That said, a couple of injuries at the back and we will struggle.
  18. Downing and Cunningham good today - quality and intelligence on the left side.
  19. Brentford impressed with Raya so far too. They dont know what we're talking about when it comes to his distribution.
