  1. Cant argue with the front six. Its how i would have had it but would have preferred DG today instead of Gallagher.
  2. Bennett and Bell - Lessons learned then...
  3. We all called it that we will suffer with injuries and depth at the back - wasnt expecting it to be a couple of days after the window shuts mind. Lenihan injured, Williams just back from injury (is he fully fit?) and now Nyambe injured?
  4. Didnt take long for neglecting the defence and shipping out 5 of them to bite us in the butt if true
  5. Lenihan has enough to do trying to sort out our defence let alone trying to captain the whole team. Id let him do that first. Johnson in the middle of the park is better placed to bark orders/give bollockings. We need someone that is gonna put our defence on toast each time they fuck up.
  6. Brave that you're picking a team without Dack - understandable though as the guy needs to get his mojo back. Why do you think TM will leave Travis out?
  7. My point was about strength in depth. I do not argue that most wanted Mulgrew out of the starting 11 but i dont think many called for him to sent out on loan and not replaced. Rodwell again, although he has shown he is not worth the hassle anymore, he is another number at the back alongside the two lads that went out. An injury to Lenihan or Williams (or even both) and we could be in the deep stuff.
  8. This video has Mulgrew on 14k a week in L1, DG on 12k a week in L1 and a few others. They have all since received new deals in the Championship.
  9. Double those figures and you be closer. We baulked at Gallaghers wages the season before when trying to sign him as was on 25k per week for being a PL reserve team player. TM said he didnt want to upset other players by bringing in guys on much more than they were. I would imagine we have managed to get him down to around 20k per week to be on a par with our wage structure. By what you're saying, that would mean we managed to convince SG to sign at around 10k per week - that would go down well with our previous top earners on 10k per week.
  10. Where did you get this from? If so, have to applaud TM for making that decision of putting him down the pecking order.
  11. Outgoing Wharton (loan) Magloire (loan) Mulgrew (loan)* Paul Downing Jack Rodwell Incoming Tosin Adarabioyo (loan) Greg Cunningham (loan) That is a stat that worries me a little. 5 defenders out and 2 in when we were already short. Hope we at least get a freebie in.
  12. They are clouded by his goals over at the Wigan boards. Saying he has scored more in three seasons than any striker they have had in that time. Being pen taker, freekick taker and having a skill of scoring direct from corners will do that. When you consider we lost more games than we won with him in the team, those goals really counted for nothing last season.
  13. Rothwell just has to be in the team. First name almost on the teamsheet for me right now. Armstrong Dack Rothwell Then you could have a case for any one of our three strikers in front of them. Id be tempted with Graham as we will be under the cosh a bit so his experience as a target man could be crucial.
  14. Really do not know what to expect. It really could go either way. That said, noises from the club have always been about pushing for the playoffs for this season - so I would say that our expectations should match theirs. Do I think we have the squad to get there? Not really, think we will be somewhere in the middle again.
  15. I mentioned him a couple of times more in dreaming to be honest - never thought we'd get him in as much as he would be a fantastic freebie. Still numerous others out there that could do a job and give us a bit of depth at the back. Just hope we already had some in mind and are moving on them because the freebie market will now be the big focus for clubs. That ex-QPR lad apparently came in for talks so perhaps he is one we are mulling over.
  16. So far Johnson, Travis, Buckley and now Evans are better than Reed apparently. Johnson is the only one that you could consider on a similar level right now - Travis and Buckley have the potential to be as good or better.
  17. Yes in a way. I am still not entirely convinced as part of a two but he did do OK there despite many of those games being dead rubbers at the end of the season. Deserves a shot as a backup CB for the season.
  18. It would be a bad decision basically because it would mean he would be in the first team more often than not when he really shouldn't be. Nyambe should be RB and there is no way he should be getting in that midfield as first choice. Johnson or Lenihan - would be happy with either but would prefer Johnson for a season or two.
  19. Still might get that chance, League 1 and 2 clubs can still bring in loans for the next week. I have a feeling we will see a number of ours go out.
  20. He played in a back three though. Still, he did look ok there at end of season.
  21. Just hope we have plans to pick up a freebie. Would hope we move quickly because all clubs will now be looking there to plug any gaps that they have.
  22. That's what I do not understand too. The poster who first claimed to know that it was a disagreement mentioned a TM interview in which he scathed the defense. The one you say is the only one I can remember too, so unless Mulgrew only just saw it yesterday (unlikely), i cannot help thinking there was something else behind a fallout.
  23. TM or Waggott (cant remember which) in the Telegraph mentioned that we had been struggling to get a few players out on deals to give us more leeway on wages we can give out on new signings. The fact that this means we've probably given a few a players a bit too long or a bit too much on their contracts to make moving them out logical or financially viable for these players and interested clubs is another conversation but I reckon Smallwood and Evans would be two names offered around without success. TM obviously didnt plan to loan out CM (why when we're so short there anyway) but some disagreement must have occurred which made him come to the concluson to try get him out, free up some wages ad try for these new guys. Were the potential moves for Reed/Hanley going to be offset by this or was that money needed just to get Cunningham over the line? As for the actual disagreement, has the fans calling for a new defence all over social media and on here caused some kind of friction within camp?. TM was obviously flustered/stressed/angry in that interview yesterday and you cannot tell me that the players were unaware of what fans as a whole felt about our backline. Or is it as simple as TM telling CM that he will not be a first choice CB going forward and CM not being able to accept that (especially due to his place in the Scotland team then coming under threat from lack of playing)?
