  1. So we are now going to see how he does on his own. The senior dressing room has gone. Armstrong is on his way. There are a group of players who won’t sign new contracts. He’s already trying these are just kids avenue. Gone before Christmas can’t see how he can make this work. Hope I’m wrong and we are in th3 play off spots bu5 we all already know where this is heading

This is a great point!! I miss the craic too…

Why don’t we set up a social within here? We meet up early in one of the pubs close to the ground and start a new thing…be a lot more relaxed in person and prob improve the message board too?

I think it’s a great idea. I work away regularly but would definitely turn up. You can’t turn down any package that includes beer and football. It’s a life rule. It may even be one of the commandments and if not it should be.

  3. Reading that just sums Mowbray up

Moves heaven and earth to sign him even after a serious injury.

Doesnt play him only under 23

Sends him out on loan and doesn’t monitor his progress

    The player feels alienated

    Mowbray offers another contract

    Almost zero man management.

Bennet May or May not stay

In desperation it could also mean that Chapman won’t sign till Mowbrays position is resolved and Bennet is out and it’s just the, “he’s in demand scenario for his negotiations with his next club”.

Like a poster on another thread said no word from him. He would have signed Bennett and Evans that is a given. Chapman would have gone.

He would have been around droning on about holding on to experience. Also I thought he needed to be gelling with the new head of recruitment. We would have had chapter and verse on that but nothing.

Someone please let the axe fall on him.

  4. Due to the fact that our journeys destination is not the play offs or promotion I Hope Bournemouth hammer Brentford today. I can’t stand the club or their supporters the way the talk about themselves as if they have s history similar to Brazil. Never won anything. They once said on their messages board. Quote a team like us should be beating a team like notts Forest. That’s the same notts Forest that we’re European champions.

    Anyway fingers crossed.

  5. I’ve just watched the clip that was posted in the Birmingham thread of the Souness promotion season. I forgot just how good Matt Jansen was he had it all could score with his head, tap ins, running at defenders from distance and one on one. Player of the season in a team with Dunn and Duff in it.

The word clinical applies to him. Armstrong would not be fit to lace his boots his anticipation and reading of the game is a pleasure to watch always right place right time.

  6. Does he really give similar interviews to the LT everyday or are they making these up from previous ones.

I have become resigned to the fact that we will have to endure him for another season regardless of league position.

The only saving grace is his big infrastructure project named sell Brockhall was stopped. When he goes at least the academy will still be there.

I also can’t believe that the appointment of a long term post in recruitment is down to gelling with Mowbray. That I do believe is him bigging  himself up.

Ideal candidate if ever there was one.

You, me and RoversCltheroe should take over as his agent we’ve just written his CV. He get the job no problem  unless Coyle  reappeared.

  9. I have no inside knowledge but I believe that Oldham, Paul and Mercer are right and that the axe will fall. There are to many coincidences for something not happening. Brockhall and it’s abandonment, contracts not being renewed for Mowbray old boys, we all know he would have renewed them. India have stopped direct communication.

Add into this Phillpl ( I think) who said there were rumours in India of a sale. Strangely this was supported on another message board but from an internal source. Both confirmed IPL owners.

Maybe I just want it to be true but the only person talking like he’s in for the duration is Mowbray no one else.No confirmation from the heirarchy just silence. I still believe Mowbray is making a sales pitch both to our owners and any prospective future employers out there.

  10. Thanks Gav and Admiral for well thought out and reasoned opinions. While it is obvious from previous posts I have a low opinion of Mowbray I can still appreciate and reflect on alternative views.

In terms of the Brockhall if this were an isolated incident of infrastructure sale then yes I could agree that it is possible that Mowbray had no knowledge but unfortunately the three of them have prior for this sort of dealing. I suppose I’m saying it’s guilt by association.

One of the things we all agree on is we want the best for Rovers. I can find no case for that sale which would support this goal.

I was once  at a Rovers U23 game  at Norwich and was sat amongst the parents. All of them were clear that Mowbray hated the academy and wanted to dismantle it and use the money for the first team. They also felt the academy graduates would struggle to get first team opportunities because Mowbray did not want the academy to be seen as successful. I do appreciate these are only opinions but every opinion has at its base an element of fact particularly when it’s shared by a group.

I also would appreciate Mowbray complaints about Rovers but he’s had money, time and facilities that most championship managers only dream of. Yet none of its good enough. I can’t wait to see where he ends up next because he has in my opinion totally wasted a fantastic opportunity to achieve any of the goals a professional manager should have.

Mowbray fulfills the criteria for a bad workman blaming his tools

I wonder if anyone thinks Coyle would have got us out of L2, or indeed Kean for that matter.

I’ve said this before and I still believe it. Mowbray didn’t get us out of league 2 the senior professionals at the club did when they took over after the disaster at Oldham. Mowbray even said it himself and they were handsomely rewarded for it with big long contracts. The idea that we are stable under Mowbray is nonsense and unless someone at the club acts I fear the wheels are about to come off.

  12. Coyle was parachuted into the job. I don’t hate Coyle because I thought he tried to make a fist of it without any financial backing.

    Keans is unspeakable awful.

Mowbray is heading into the same waters. If you listen to him he’s is starting to sound the same hoewever Kean never made any pretence of honour.

Neither of them could set up a team both believe winning is irrelevant. Further both talk has though they have a dream. Our owners are a nightmare. You couldn’t endlessly get things this wrong. Maybe their selection criteria is to find perennial underachievers who are narcissistic.

Its is just a nightmare. I can’t stand to listen or look at him also his football is shit.

Will I turn up. Yes because I love Rovers and it’s the thick and thin thing. I’d like a bit of the thick soon

For me the Brockhall scandal will forever taint TM's time here. I can't believe he knew nothing about it. Not after they tried to pull the same stunt at Coventry. For me that's worse than anything Coyle did, although Kean still retains the worst manager spot by some distance.

They pulled the plug on this. It’s the thing that keeps me believing that Mowbray and his men are gone.  Dodgy group. Old fashioned looking for a bit of gravy on a deal. Train on the ewood pitch to prove you need to sell brockhall. Buy your friends son and give him a four year contract. Anyone who has to keep speaking about how honourable they are needs watching because hourable people don’t. He’s in the same group as Kean and Coyle but craftier. All I want is a guy who want to achieve things for us and not for himself. He’s spent 4 seasons talking us down he wouldnt do that at boro the old lag

Mowbray will not be manager of Blackburn Rovers FC at Spring Bank Holiday Monday (31st May 2021)

Hopefully his 2 bosom buddies will follow him out of the door!

    What's the terminology?.....by mutual consent.

I don’t need meat on the bone keep posting your info it provides hope.

  15. The only person saying he’s staying and rebuilding is the boro boy himself and past experiences tells us all that you can take what he says with a pinch of salt. If he was so in control why hasn’t he issued new contracts isn’t that a priority in a rebuild and why was Mowbrays brockhall initiative scuppered essential according to our leaders. Why has  according to people on here communication stopped with Pune.

All his recent ramblings seem more like a resume of his CV while here building things, developing players and his great connections with the premiere big boys. It’s more like he’s applying for jobs.

I may have a bad case of confirmation bias but I feel the above indicates he’s going. I don’t feel the top 6 finish was ever the plodders idea but was forced on him and he’s failed miserably and when he recognised this it’s been an endless stream of excuses it’s about performance not results etc.

It could be that our next manager wouldn’t take over at the rag end of a season with an unbalanced squad and closing in on relegation. I have no concrete evidence for this but equally there is none for him staying other than from Mowbray

l just hope that he goes.

  16. So if he’s out lining up new players and staying why hasn’t he sorted out the contract situation. Simply he has no authority to do either and in reality no one knows what our distant and detached owners will do next. It wouldn’t shock me if even they don’t know what they’ll do come summer.

Past form however tells us no decision till summer meeting. If he is lining up players it’s off his own bat but that wouldn’t surprise me because he is arrogant enough to believe he’s on top of the situation.

  17. So according to Mowbray for the first time in Venkies entire reign they have proactively decided to keep him in place, organise a budget, decide on contracts and all this without a meeting. Who is he trying to Kid the contract extensions would always have been activated. The more senior pros would always have a decision hanging over them That has not changed. Pickering was always coming.

I think he struggles for something to say and this is the best he can do. It also diverts attention from that on the pitch disaster he’s in the process of over seeing.

The boro big fella has a meeting coming with his masters. Let’s see how he fares then. We should have got used to his blag by now. Absolutely said nothing in that interview. What a load of old guff.

I'll never get people, young or older, switching teams. Sorry but it's just not an option i'm afraid. I can exclude kids who are so easily swayed by tv football but to just up sticks to another club you're fond of because your so called 1st love is now a bit crap ...?

Nah, you might stop attending or just get totally fed up with football but hiking off to watch someone else miles away.  Poor show really but each to their own i suppose in this era it's seen as more of an acceptable thing.

I understand what you mean. I lived in Rochdale for years and all my friends are season ticket holders and me and my son have been home and away with dale. After one night match when my son was about 10 we where walking back and he said “I like going to the game but I just don’t care not like with Rovers”.

That sentence sums it up for me football is an emotional game and once your in your in. I guess we’re stuck on the ramparts with rovers win or lose because emotionally there’s nowhere else to go.

Having said that who would want to and leave by far the greatest team the world has ever seen
