gutted with the 3-0 loss to pompey. we didn't show up, the team looked all over the shop at the back, savage done well in midfield and roberts never stopped running. fairplay though we were pasted, they neturalised our fullbacks as our weakness and punished us. without friedel it could have been alot worse. neill lost his head and todd did win the ball though looking through sober eyes it is a tackle from behind. hughes said it's a wake up call, he could have been alot more harsh.

yeah gally i think will now be on the bench instead of emerton who has not recovered from injury.

well the last time be played pompey i went to the biggest, classic joy feeling to being totaly gutted. i was at home watching jeff stelling's soccer saturday and it was 2-2 and i can't remember who was covering the game but they was going on about what was happening at the end of the game comming towards 90 mins. all i heard then was along the lines of goal, blackburns brett emerton has scored at the back post with a header in injury time to give all 3 points to rovers, i was shouting, doing a boggie dance around my front room, jumping on the couches, hugging my dog the lot, going wild in ectasy!!! i was thinking champions league, 4th place is still on, here we go and then the pundit then says oh no its been dissalowed, emerton didn't head it, he's used his hands!!! just sat back down, well gutted. what a come down.

yeah tugay is susspended, wasn't to sure on the others though cheers mate. i think zurab is out and todd was taken off against nz, hopefully as a precaution though i could be wrong, so we are looking well weak in defence

i agree with these posts. selling emerton for 800k would of been bad business, a min of 2million and i think a deal would of been on the cards. the guy may not be the best player in the world, but i trust hughes and he must see something in him. he is versitile, though where ever he has been playing, his performances sometimes or most of the time have been dire for us. hughes dropped him from the 16 a few times last season, so brett knows he has to work hard and battle not just for a starting 11 place, but a place in the first 16. fairplay to emerton though, he could have walked and easily got in a first 11 somewhere else but he has decided to stay and take the challenge and fight for a place. maybe there will be a new improved emerton this season, the guy has guts staying when the boo boys are after him etc, rather than taking the easy option and abandoning ship. it's a new season, so i wait and see. i think almost everybody gave him stick last season but i for one will see what the new season brings. hopefully a well good start against pompey will be the beginning of a new era in emertons career.

these sort of predictions seem to be the norm with most papers and mags. we are mostly being tipped for a midtable finish from what i have read. maybe hughes could use these articles as a motivator to prove the ###### wrong "again"
