  1. May as well just get Gary Bowyer back if the only aim of the club is to blood young players to sell on and bounce around the championship, at least the team showed a bit of heart with him (I'm being semi sarcastic i don't really want bowyer back I just want us not to be shit)
  2. Same story as always...... It's all well and good selling players for a fortune but unless the bulk of any proceeds goes straight back into the transfer kitty for the manager to spend at will then its just pointless
  3. Tbf! "a few" is different to near 20 with still half a season to go though
  4. Smzodics was probably 26/27 when he joined us and nobody would have believed he'd become the top goal scorer that he has at 28
  5. Not really. And I'm not sure about this "no one else will touch him" bit either, I think most league 1 clubs and a good hand full of championship clubs would have liked him in the summer if we didn't gazzump them on wages Signing him was a gamble though due to his fitness record and it's one that doesn't currently look like paying off! But yes giving him a long term contract was the ridiculous part, just hope he's only on a very modest salary in case we do need to pay him off
  6. Surely we could have got Ashley Philips bacj here on loan instead of him going to struggling Plymouth
  7. I don't think there's currently much between them although i think Leo has plenty of potential for improvement where as Pears is probably as good as he's going to get, The problem with Leo right now is that he's been thrown in at the deep end without armbands and his confidance is getting shattered Id love us to sign an experienced veteran keeper on a short term deal, someone to take the pressure off Leo and gving him someone to learn from. Pears is an excellent back up keeper, but I doubt he'd now settle for being a backup
  8. Szmodics is now looking like one of our best bargains for a long long time, defintely one of the very best deals in the venky era
  9. Problem is you cant keep your captain on the bench forever as its obviously going to cause unrest in the squad. I think ideally rovers would like to sell him but they know nobody is going to even get in the ball park of their valuation. So maybe in their heads they think going out and getting game time at a club doing well will raise his stock back up so they can get a more reasonable fee for him in the summer (wouldn't be suprised if there's an option to buy in the loan agreement if they meet the valuation)
  10. Telavovic is going to be a revelation today. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Yes because Rotherhams bench is frightening! 🙄
  11. The ship is definitely sinking (yet again....) Something is really not right behind the scenes (yet again again! not that its ever been right for more than a week under the Vs)
  12. How come once again under this lot we can find 6 figure sums for positions that aren't a priority yet for strikers we only spend pocket change or sign free transfers Just to answer my own question!! It's because league success isn't the priority for this lot and never has been, levelling up young easily affordable players and selling them for profit(that our transfer kitty never sees) is the priority. You'd almost think that we were still really being run by/for player agents as they are the only ones that genuinely profit from this club. We've become nothing more than a 'feeder club' with next to zero(or at least completely unrealistic) league ambitions
  13. Maguire looks like another Telavovic, bags of untapped potential on paper but hasn't really been tested at a high level. Gambles on players like these are always completely hit and miss, been a while since we've unearthed a gem of a striker though! One that pretty much hit the ground running
  14. Softest rovers player? (cant use current squad because that's too easy, still be most of them)
  15. On the subject of doing jobs for footballers, I once helped fit a Carpet in Colin Hendrys house in St annes back in the early 2000s He was a gent tbh! Made time to have a chat with everyone and even brought the brews in himself. His late wife was there and his young kids where shooting about, it was a nice warm family home
  16. Maybe "hard man" isn't really the right term for these types of players, maybe 'right bastard' is more appropriate, but still every successful team should have at least a couple of right bastards in it, if only to ruffle a few feathers, cause a bit of chaos and get the oppos back up when needed
  17. Ahhh right that's good of them 👍 I still cant decide whether to give the one I've ordered as an xmas present or be greedy and keep it for myself 🙈🙈😅
  18. Ahhh what a muddle, sounds like you've gone out of your way to rectify things the best you can though, so thank you for that 👍 You'd think the manufacturer would offer to refund you for any excess shirts or at least give them to you at a discounted price! And also give you a discount on the shirts that they still owe. But hey ho! The quality looks very nice in the photo though, thanks again for doing this
