  1. I think Wrexham would be a good fit for Dacky, but he'll likely spend more time on the Disney+ documentary than on the football pitch.
  2. It arrived just now! Absolutely gorgeous home shirt, dare I say the best for 30 years
  3. Markanday having a decent pre-season so far. I do wonder whether he'd be better playing up front off the shoulder of defenders rather than out wide. He's always seemed like a solid finisher of the ball, more clinical than Dolan and Gallagher IMO.
  4. Completely understand wanting to keep Southgate on, and according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter the FA also want him to stay....BUT I do feel like this might be a case of outstaying your welcome. I think he'll decide to move on, it looks like its taken an awful lot out of him. He can go with his head held relatively high as well. So he hasn't won anything, but what he has done is repair the damage done by Capello and Hodgson in recent times. I reckon the culture within the squad hasn't been as good since Euro 96. Agree that Howe and O'Neil would not take it. Managing clubs is far more appealing than international management in this day and age, and getting the England job is no longer the pinnacle of success for an English manager. Rio Ferdinand couldn't manage his way out of a paper bag. He's an awful pundit and probably an even worse coach. Carsley would be the most sensible appointment as he's already part of the FA setup.
  5. Up to the point that Cole Palmer scored I thought there was a sinking inevitability that Spain would win....and then the Palmer goal gave me hope that it was going to be like the Holland, Switzerland, and Slovakia games where England pull something out of nothing. Sadly not to be, and you can't really begrudge a team winning it that had to get past Italy, Germany, France and England to win the thing. Spain were the best team in the competition and rightly deserved to lift the trophy. England simply need to make a change now though. Time for someone else to have a crack at it. My only concern is that its the FA making the appointment and I can totally see someone like Frank Lampard getting the gig. Graham Potter would probably be the best option of those out of work, or perhaps they'll promote from within again and give it to Lee Carsley. He has at least won something as an England manager. Also time for the likes of Walker to step aside, he's had a really poor tournament. As has Harry Kane, who should take note of Alan Shearer and retire from international football now to prolong his club career. The man could not control his first touch last night and has been a passenger in this England side, lumbering around with no energy.
  6. No they haven't provided one. This is the reply I got: Doesn't fill me with much confidence. Haven't had anything from Barcode Logistics, but tomorrow is a working day so maybe it'll show up then.
  7. Anyone else had issues receiving their online order? I ordered the home shirt on the day it released and I'm still waiting. Club sent me a dispatch confirmation the day after ordering, no tracking details. I messaged them on Thursday and they replied saying the dispatch confirmation they sent me was an error, but still confirmed it'd been dispatched....still hasn't turned up though though urrrrgh. I'm assuming Waggott was responsible for shipping my order 😂
  8. I can and I will 😂...but as I say, I'd take him over Pears. As for Dykes. We already have one donkey of a striker that averages 6 goals a season. We don't need another. At least Gallagher is reliable as a defender when we're under the cosh.
  9. Just because he played 46 games for QPR last season, that doesn't mean his best days aren't behind him, which they clearly are or he'd still be playing premier league football and not at a side that finished bottom half of the 2nd tier. Christ on a bike. That being said, he's an upgrade on Pears, which says a lot!
  10. To a large extent it doesn't really matter how much Szmodics goes for because the club wont see any benefits from the cash anyway. I'm sick and tired of this club being run into the ground. We need to ramp things up against Venkys and Waggott. I suspect he'll crumble if he gets targeted on a more frequent and intense level than last season. A real coward of a person.
  11. Incredible night. England finally showed up to the tournament in that first half, and showed great resilience in the 2nd half to soak up pressure and hit the Netherlands with the last minute sucker punch. Credit where its due and Southgate got it right with the subs last night as well. I still feel Southgate will leave his role regardless of what happens on Sunday. People will say he's earned a shot at another tournament and I understand that, but if we win the final then what a high to go out on.
  12. We are absolutely already in a relegation fight before kicking a ball if we aren't able to spend any transfer fees on signings. Best hope that JE's 'togetherness' really does the trick because that's what we'll be relying on by the looks of it!
  13. I don't disagree, but he is better than Telalovic IMO, so if we're shipping Semir off to pastures new then Jack is basically the one to replace his role in the squad as bit part sub. We obviously need some serious additions in the striking department regardless.
  14. Yeah I do think Semir was dealt a bad hand really. He was everything that Rovers didn't need at the time (and still don't) - an inexperienced striker who had never played in England before let alone the Championship.
  15. On Telalovic, as much as I wanted it to work out (as I do with all players that sign for Rovers), having Jack Vale back in the squad is basically his replacement. Vale is probably a better player than him anyway, not that that is saying much at all!
  16. Sheer relief to get through, a better performance but not brilliant. BUT, Kane is proving to be quite a hindrance for this team. He drops far too deep, doesn't seem able to hold up the ball most of the time, and generally appears quite sluggish and not 100%. It won't happen, but I'd be tempted to bring Toney in for the semi-finals. If it somehow ends up being a France vs England final then god help us all from that snooze fest 😂.
  17. Crikey, this squad is about as deep as a puddle. Need about 8 players minimum that can actually strengthen the group. Hope Gent does well.
  18. It's a lovely shirt design, no doubt about that. The buttons makes it much more 1992-94 than 1994/95, but nevertheless its a great design, probably my favourite since the sponsor-less version of 2011/12. Macron have done a pretty solid job in their shirt designs since taking over. Nice that they actually put the effort in unlike some of the piss poor templates we had in the past with Nike and Umbro.
  19. Ironic that Rovers will be wearing kits that celebrate winning the prem in a season that will likely see them drift down to League One. Sorry to be pessimistic about it, but all signs are pointing towards a very difficult season that'll end in tears.
  20. Awful performance yesterday, and the Kalvin Phillips comment from Southgate is as bizarre as it gets. Almost Steve Kean levels of delusion there! What must Wharton and Mainoo be thinking with that comment. They've both proven that they can do it at a top level. One of them deserves the nod in the next game. Only Pickford and perhaps Guehi came out of yesterday with any real credit. Bellingham absolutely non existent. Southgate has shot himself in the foot by not taking a proper left back who's match fit. Having Shaw there is a waste of a place given his injury troubles. Surely someone like Colwill is better than putting a square peg in a round hole. Huge changes need to be made for the Slovenia game. I'd be looking to do something like the following: Pickford Walker Stones Guehi Trippier Wharton Rice Bellingham Saka Kane Gordon Although not happy about Trippier being at left back, he's left himself with little choice. I can't see him switching to a back 3 either. Having Gordon in there means he and Trippier on the same flank and you'd hope with a decent bit of understanding. Harry Kane needs to be told to never drop deep. He does it far too often and it completely destroys any attacking counter attacking threat we may have. I'd go as far as dropping him for Watkins or Toney but I can't see Southgate doing that.
  21. Rovers seemed to be doing a lot of work with Webbox last season. Perhaps it could be them as new shirt sponsor? Would be happy with Watson Ramsbottom as far as logo designs go.
  22. As many others have said, it was a very underwhelming first game. Pretty much a typical England performance. Started promisingly, got a goal early and then as the game went on they gradually sat deeper and invited pressure.....a bit like another team we all know! Trippier on the left just didn't work at all. Foden disappointing as he has been many times for England. For all the talk of Foden needing to play centrally, regardless of where you play you still need to look as though you want the ball and do the basics right. He couldn't play simple passes last night when under no pressure. I'd be dropping him for Denmark and bringing in Anthony Gordon or Cole Palmer. Foden is a good enough player that he should be able to do much better than last night regardless of being on the wide left. Alexander-Arnold clearly doesn't have the composure to play alongside Rice when it comes to facing better teams than Serbia. That role is crying out for Wharton. Hopefully Adam gets a chance to start against Slovenia if we beat Denmark. The above being said, the score could've easily been 3 nil with Walker's bursting run in the first half (not sure whether the nudge from their defender put him off but I don't know why he didn't just put his foot through it), and the wonderful save from the Serbian keeper to deny Kane in the 2nd half. Ultimately, nothing I saw convinced me that England can go all the way. If anything they look a bit weaker than in the previous 2 tournaments to me, despite the undoubted talent of Bellingham.
  23. It was supposedly some sort of consultancy role wasn't it? All a bit strange that nothing ever seemed to come out officially about it. I say strange, what I mean is perfectly normal for the basket case club that is Blackburn Rovers these days.
  24. If someone is willing to pay roughly what we paid for Wahlstedt then simply take it and move on. Its a risk to hope that he comes good when Rovers can't afford to take risks on players. I'd much prefer us bring in a solid number one to take over from Pears but I can't see that happening. More likely that someone like Ruddy comes in as backup.
