  1. Well, that's a real kick in the teeth today. It felt like it'd be a tight game against a pretty well drilled Hull side that arguably didn't deserve to lose their first game to Norwich, and were impressive last week beating Sheff. Wednesday. However, to go ahead in the 75th minute and lose is absolutely gutting, no two ways about it. The positive is that we held our own for a long time with 10 men, and Gallagher getting a goal early into the season will help him as the senior centre forward left at the club. I'd also say that twice now Gally and Ennis have come off the bench and made an impact together. I think they 'could' be a decent partnership if they can each chip in with a few goals. Also now means Brittain gets a chance to start the next game, just a shame it won't mean moving JRC into midfield. Seasons aren't summed up in 3 games, but this Rovers side already has the makings of mid table nearly men without some significant improvements to personnel. The next two are looking pretty sketchy for a side that is seriously thin on quality in key attacking areas. Away at Watford and Plymouth before the international break is a worry. I'd take 2 points from those games right now!
  2. My bad, thought he was there.
  3. Would be great to see him get some minutes, had things not been so desperate in the 2nd half against Rotherham then he probably would've got a chance in that game.
  4. This will be a tough game. Hull under Rosenior have improved a lot. That being said I think we will edge it 2-1. Ennis and A. Wharton to get the goals. My team for this one would be: Pears Brittain Carter Hyam Pickering JRC A. Wharton Szmodics Hedges Leonard Ennis
  5. Expecting the same starting 11 as WBA. We simply have to do better there than last season and take something from the game. Really, we should be winning this but based on what happened there last season I'd take a draw. We have a naff record at Rotherham in recent years.
  6. I reckon a comfortable 4 nil to Rovers tonight. Ennis, both Wharton brothers and Gilsenan to score the goals 😁.
  7. Absolutely brilliant win to start the season. May have been a sloppy start but once Rovers got in front they seemed to be the better side overall. Delighted for the two goal scorers. Perfect for both of them to stake their claim this season and I'd love to see them kick on, as we all would! There's definitely need for a couple more attacking players IMO, these are still young lads and inexperienced at this level. What we're crying out for is a couple of experienced heads to complement this young and exciting group. Off the pitch we may be having problems but you can't really argue with the commitment and effort being put in on it. On to Rotherham away and to right the wrongs of last season!
  8. I'll got for a 1 - 1 draw. Szmodics to bag for Rovers. Think we will go 1 up but WBA will come back strong in 2nd half and grab the equaliser.
  9. 1. Who will win this year’s Championship ? Leicester 2. Who will claim runners-up spot ? Boro 3. Who will finish rock bottom in the Championship ? QPR 4. Where will Rovers finish this season in the league ? 15th 5. How many league goals will Rovers score this season ? 45 6. Who will win the BRFCS POTY ? Tronstad
  10. Predicted lineup for today? Whatever it is will probably give a very clear idea of what our starting 11 will be against West Brom. I'm expecting something like this: Kaminski JRC Carter Hyam Pickering Travis Tronstad Szmodics Hedges Gallagher Dolan Pretty toothless up front 😬. Switching JRC into midfield at the expense of Travis, with Brittain coming in at right back would also be a decent option, and hopefully Markanday and Ennis get some minutes today. I really hope the former gets a chance to shine this season. Gallagher needs to have the form of his life this season by the looks of it.
  11. If Kaminski is still at the club come WBA at home then he needs to start. Just a much more all round assured figure. Pears did ok when he came in, made some good saves at times but he has more mistakes in him for sure. Perhaps Pears distribution is better, but TK is the better all rounder. Yes he went through a rough patch before his spell out injured last season but every keeper has one of those now and then in their career. He's been a dependable figure between the sticks for the most part since he joined.
  12. Watched the highlights from yesterday, looks like we created more than enough to win it comfortably, but we all know what the problem is. Sounds like Markanday having a decent game today, really hope he gets a chance to shine this season. When he played last season he looked at least as good as Dolan but has been so unfortunate.
  13. The quotes from JDT last night are extremely ominous. I'd be very surprised if he's still at the club by the time we kick-off against WBA. If that happens then we'll no doubt end up with someone like Damien Johnson taking the team on. I was very sceptical of JDT at times last season, especially after some poor derby results, and the Rotherham away loss was particularly appalling...BUT you cant really argue with the fact that he guided us to our best finish since relegation from the Premier League and I do think he'll go on to have a very good managerial career.
  14. Seen this on Twitter today. No idea where it came from or how legit it actually is, but thought it worth a share anyway...
  15. Regardless of the quality of the opposition today, it really feels like JRC is going to be a key player for us this season. Hope he can stay fit because he's riding an incredible wave of form off the back of last season. Also good to see Harry Leonard grab a goal, and a good poachers goal at that, being in the right place at the right time for an easy finish. Hopefully he can kick on and help ease the pressure up front.
  16. Not a bad shirt design overall, but that V shaped collar does bring it down a bit. A buttoned collar like Sheffield Wednesdays new away kit would've been lovely. I don't mind the sky blue trim at all as its something we've never had to my knowledge and you're obviously limited with what you can do with the Rovers blue & white halves. They've done a better job of integrating the Totally Wicked logo this time but the sponsor on the women's shirt does suit the design much more overall...primarily because TW's logo seems really small. I think I actually prefer the old days when they used to put the sponsor in a white box. The Rovers F.C. integration is nice, albeit maybe the opacity needed to be more subtle...? I'm being picky at this point 😅. Looking forward to seeing the away kit next.
  17. Hopefully they show it off on social media the day before.
  18. I would love Rovers to do this. I remember Southampton doing it in the early 2000's...and I think Preston did it in the mid - late 90's with some of their BAXI sponsored kits...? Might be wrong on that. Anyway, yes, it'd be amazing...and a way to involve the community potentially with submitting designs forward for a panel to choose from. No idea how viable it is though, I just think it'd be neat (not just saying that because I enjoy doing the odd kit concept myself 😆).
  19. Change the back of the shirt to all black instead of grey and it's an absolute winner.
  20. Read my post again and you'll see that I state gambling as well. I have fought a gambling addiction for nearly 10 years now so I feel very strongly about betting companies not being given exposure in any way, whether that be on the front of a footy shirt or on a giant billboard. Very easy to sit behind a keyboard and make a judgment about someone without knowing their reasons for their opinion isn't it. As for booze companies...yeah, in this day and age I don't particularly like the idea of that either. As a kid I obviously have had a fair few Rovers tops with gambling companies and of course McEwans Lager on the front, but this was when I was young and didn't know any better. My feelings are that football clubs generally shouldn't be parading around with company logos of things that can cause mental or physical health problems and addiction. Am I wrong for thinking that? I don't know, it's just my opinion. Call it what you want; moaning for the sake of moaning or whatever but that is simply how I feel about the situation. I understand the business and financial side of things in regards to shirt sponsors, but I don't have to like it either!
  21. Reminds me a bit of when Southampton got rid of Nigel Adkins and brought in Pochettino. It worked out alright for them, but getting rid of a head coach that has just masterminded a fairly remarkable and comfortable premier league survival with games to spare is quite a bold move! That said, it looks like a great appointment on paper.
  22. Well I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't complain about Crown Paints because they aren't a vaping company. Like Gambling, having a Vaping Company on the front of the shirt just feels morally wrong. That is my issue with it. It also doesn't help that the Totally Wicked logo is absolutely terrible. I wasn't a fan of last seasons home shirt so I decided to pass on it anyway, but if this season's is decent the I'll be looking at getting the women's team version providing they have a different sponsor, as they had Watson Ramsbottom Solicitors on the front last year. Another misstep on the commercial side of things to go alongside the ridiculously expensive season ticket prices.
  23. Bizarre take. Gets them European football in a higher ranked tournament for next season, and they beat a solid Italian team in the final. A European Trophy win is the stuff Rovers fans can only dream of. Other Premier League clubs should be looking at the Europa Conference League as an opportunity for silverware away from domestic trophies given Man City's domination.
  24. What an utterly bizarre season. Going into it my expectations were simply 'don't get relegated'. Losing Lenihan, Van Hecke and Rothwell combined with hiring someone with no prior coaching experience in England could've gone south very quickly, especially when you look at how the summer transfer window went. If I'd known we were to finish 7th at the start of the season with no further context then I'd have been very happy with that return. However.... With how the season unfolded I can't help but feel a good chunk of disappointment that we aren't in the playoffs. I think we never dropped lower than 10th all season (correct me if I' wrong on that!), and spent the majority of the time in the top 6. To be 3rd in March after beating Sheffield United was uncharted territory for us as we're usually well and truly in our implosion phase by then. Recruitment was poor overall. Hyam the only player to hit the ground running, while it took Szmodics a good while to settle. Of the players we brought in, these two were the only positives in the end. Morton flattered to deceive. Brittain was injured too often but I have hopes that he'll kick on next year. Mola was terrible. Given the context of how we've missed out on the playoffs, it's hard to not look back at a series of awful refereeing decisions and plain old bad luck that cost us over the course of the season. Cardiff away, Huddersfield away, Burnley at home, Coventry at home, PNE away...the list goes on. Because the Championship is such a crazy league I will go to next season with the same expectation as the last, but the hope is that we are up there again and will have improved as a team. We've seen some brilliant youngsters step up and I hope we can build a team around the likes of Adam Wharton, Ash Phillips, JRC, and Hayden Carter. The summer will be interesting, the club have another rebuild on their hands with BBD gone, Dack and Ayala likely to follow. Uncertainty over Kaminski as well I'm sure after Pears took his place. It is perhaps less severe than last summer thanks to the emergence of some of the youngsters. The biggest challenge will be sorting out our attacking players and bringing in a proper CM. I don't think any of our remaining attackers are good enough to start at the moment. With who we have left its basically Dolan, Gallagher and Hedges. That is a bang average front 3. I think we need a whole new forward line 😂😬. I'd be looking to make Hyam the club captain. Travis has shown his limitations this season. He's been poor overall and for all the sh*thousing, he's really ineffective and makes some shocking decisions so I'm not even sure he warrants a place in the starting 11. If Brittain is fit then I'd be moving JRC into midfield at Trav's expense. JRC has gone from being the player that I dreaded seeing on the team sheet to my favourite player in this group. It's an incredible turnaround. If there's any justice, then 3rd place wins the playoffs. I don't have any ill feeling towards Mowbray and Sunderland getting there, but that might change if they end up winning the thing!
  25. Think this will be a score draw. I can see Millwall being quite nervy. Rovers with nothing to lose at this point because its arguably already been lost for this season. I can see a scenario where BBD doesn't feature to avoid himself getting injured before his move. If Gallagher is fit then I'd go with this team. Pears JRC, Carter, Hyam, Pickering Travis, Wharton Szmodics Dolan, Gallagher, Hedges
