  1. He did a decent job at Spurs, blooding a young Harry Kane into the team as well...but after a honeymoon period at Villa it fella off a cliff rapidly after they got smashed in the FA Cup Final. They went down in the season he started as their manager after he won 1 and lost 8 of their first 10 games....funnily enough he signed Rudy Gestede that summer as well.
  2. I'm a bit confused by the comments on Radio Lancs last night suggesting that a fallout between Ismael and Gestede was partially down to Ismael not playing some of the new signings. I feel like all of the players brought in over the last couple of windows have had a fair go when not injured. Not defending Ismael, he's clearly a rubbish head coach, but I thought that was a weird reason.
  3. I'd be very surprised if it was someone with championship experience. I imagine Gestede and Suhail's reputation in the industry is awful. I don't want him anyway, but I'd be surprised if someone like Rowett came in. I get that someone like him might be desperate to get back in somewhere, but equally he can't be THAT stupid. He failed to save Birmingham a couple of years ago, does he really want another relegation on the CV? He also tends to pop up as a studio pundit on sky's EFL coverage when he's not in a job, so I imagine he's in no rush. There is no particular name that jumps out to me. The clubs reputation is on the floor, so any self respecting head coach would surely not take the job seriously. Equally I don't really want a former player to take the job because I know it will mean their legacy will be tainted when it all goes wrong under the clowns in charge.
  4. If Still wants to completely ruin his prospects of managing in this country then he'll be in the dugout soon enough.
  5. Nixon also said Ismael is a good manager.
  6. First off it'll be someone who's available. No chance of Mark Robins. Even George Boetang is in a job at the moment, although it is a Belgian club and we know Rovers love a Belgian club these days. Lee Grant, sacked from Huddersfield. I could see that for sure.
  7. Hopefully De Neve and Tavares...and then I guess Hedges due to his injury.
  8. Perhaps I'm being harsh but I think it largely comes down to the fact that the squad is a lot weaker than the one we had going into January 2025. Despite a woeful window last year, they still came very close to the playoffs. This time round the window has been so weak to go on top of an already very poor summer window.
  9. Ismael leaving aside, this has been a very bleak transfer deadline day.
  10. It absolutely is worse than last year.
  11. It absolutely shouldn't make a difference given how recruitment works at Rovers. I doubt Ismael had all that much input into players signing.
  12. Crikey, he's actually going!? Presumably a way to mask no other incomings.
  13. I just think the players will think they can just stroll by comfortably in this one, and it'll be their undoing. Wouldn't be at all surprised if they find themselves 1 or 2 nil down at half time due to poor attitude and application.
  14. We're not bringing anyone in are we 😂
  15. Rovers 1 - 1 Sheffield Wednesday. Gudjohnsen. Predicted team: Toth Miller O'Riordan McLoughlin Cashin Tronstad Forshaw Jorgensen Cantwell Morishita Gudjohnsen Would honestly much prefer us to go 442, but we don't have the players to play that system.
  16. Aren't Genoa on the verge of selling their right back? Inter and Everton strongly linked. Surely they'll be back in with another offer for Alebiosu.
  17. I was really hopeful about Henriksson, thought he'd be what we needed. Sadly he's clearly not at Championship level...not yet anyway. Maybe he'll be ok in League One, but I think that would be his limit. I do have some sympathy with the player, as he's more often than not been played out of position. Another square peg signing. Too many of 'em.
  18. Fully expected after Ismael said yesterday that Alebiosu wouldn't be leaving 😂
  19. This is a very valid point. The lack of chances created is horrendous. Gudjohnsen we know can put chances away, but he is a poacher, a Jordan Rhodes type forward. If you're not creating chances then it doesn't matter who is playing up front. Equally, Gudjohnsen has had his good goalscoring run when playing alongside another forward, so having him as a lone striker is not ideal. The players brought in have created more problems than solutions in that there is no clearly correct system to play.
  20. I completely agree on that last line. The problem is that any manager or head coach who has that ability will simply get fed up of the lack of ambition, as we have found out in recent years.
  21. Mowbray would be a huge upgrade on Ismael, but I think he's probably done now after the poor return to WBA last year.
  22. Neither Kean or Coyle had a run like this.
  23. I've had enough of Cantwell. He is absolutely a con artist.
  24. Nah, not for me, the squad is nowhere near that thanks to the awful recruitment. There are some League Two standard lads in there in De Neve and Henriksson...but a proper head coach who knows what they're doing wouldn't persist with some of those players and would have had the team closer to mid table.
  25. I was going to ask if there was any sort of response from the crowd. I imagined it would just be mostly apathy at this point.
