v Wrexham (a) - 29/11/25
sharpysharps86 replied to Elrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Not confident for this. Terrible record against newly promoted teams, Wrexham are in decent form, and Rovers missing several key players still. I sense a Charlton away style result, hope I'm wrong! Same team as Wednesday night probably, as there's not really much in the way of other options! -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
sharpysharps86 replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I don't think I'll ever warm to him, but as RF99 says in his post that doesn't really matter at all. Ultimately wins are all that count and I just hope that he and the players can continue to pick them up at a reasonable rate. 4 wins from the last 5 is very good given injuries, suspensions and a general lack of experience within the team...and in each of the wins this season I have been impressed by the character shown by the players. They are clearly playing for him and each other at this moment in time. However, the bad start and some awful defeats earlier in the season means we will likely be looking over our shoulders until January at least. The games before Christmas are hugely important as to whether we continue to look down rather than up for the duration of the season. At the start of the season and with the mass turnover of players I had no expectations, just hoped that Rovers could stay in the league, as awfully unambitious as that sounds, but that's where my head was and continues to be at. I suppose by that gauge he is doing the required job, as unambitious and depressing as that sounds. I'm far more worried about how the club will probably have a huge squad 'transition' every summer for the foreseeable future than whoever the head coach is. -
The January 2026 Transfer Window

Agree on Henriksson and Tavares. Any players coming from overseas need to be given time to adjust. I do worry about Tavares attitude and application though...I think that may be a big factor in why we have barely seen the guy in recent weeks. I think the technical ability is there, but the player himself has to want to do the hard work. Henriksson has the potential of a solid championship player IMO, but he needs to get up to speed with the pace of the game at this level. Remember vividly how Tronstad took a while to get going when he first arrived, so I'm hoping its a similar case with Axel. -

Derby winning again, into the top 6 they are at the moment. Not deal that Portsmouth are winning, equally so Oxford drawing with Boro currently. Norwich getting smashed at Brum. -

He set out to hurt Baradji with that challenge, no doubt. -

Well, this team continue to surprise me with their away form. Also couldn't be happier to be proven wrong on the set pieces comment I made on here yesterday. Two well worked goals off the training ground. It was definitely the right call to stay with a back 3, and Pratt seemed to cope ok given he was chucked in at the deep end. Maintaining this shape with injuries / suspensions with Rovers thin squad is going to be difficult. Delighted that Gudjohnsen bagged another, hopefully he can keep up a consistent run of scoring. Hopefully the lads can kick on and start turning that home form around now, starting with QPR on Wednesday. -

With Carter and Wharton both out long term now, we definitely need a couple of new CB's at least, and a recall for O'Riordan on top of that to ensure we have enough cover for playing 3 CB's. -

The 4 upcoming home games are absolutely massive for the season given the opposition bar Ipswich are all teams close to Rovers in the table. Probably need 3 wins from those and ideally a couple of good results away at Wrexham, Portsmouth and Sheffield Wednesday to go into the new year with a solid hope of staying in the league. -

Why comment asking where they are then in my prediction of who Ismael will pick when you've just said yourself that we don't even know if they will be ready. Bizarre 😂. -

I just can't see anything but a Preston win. They have started the season really well, the fans will be with them. This is not the same as going to away to a misfiring Leicester, or an injury plagued Bristol City. Heckingbottom will have his players fired up for this one, whereas Ismael will probably have Rovers struggling to string a couple of passes together, not to mention being utterly lightweight as they were against Derby - Preston are another side that will be too physical and strong for the Rovers softies. Predicting that Ismael will pick this team: Pears Miller McLoughlin Hedges Alebiosu Montgomery Tronstad De Neve Morishita Ohashi Gudjohnsen My god that looks an awful team 😂. Preston 3 - 0 Rovers -
Jon Dahl Tomasson - no longer Sweden coach
sharpysharps86 replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
That's fair. I don't know much about them as a club but fair play if they reinvest in the squad. That must be nice 🙃. If they weren't below is in the table currently then I'd wish him well, but as it is they are a relegation rival as it stands. I don't expect them to remain down there but then I also expected Sheff United to have pulled away by now as well. -

Not convinced Norwich is the right job for him. Yes they have a goalscorer in Sargent, and while I don't know enough about the Norwich players, do they have the capabilities to play JDT ball? They're in a relegation battle after all, and I'm not sure his way of playing is the way out of it. Despite keeping hold of Sargent, Norwich do tend to sell their better players each summer, so again, not sure he will get the backing he might want. I'd wish him good luck but Norwich are rivals for relegation so far....and you just know if he goes to another Championship club that he'll come back to haunt Rovers, as Eustace has done. -

sharpysharps86 replied to ...'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
You know what, I wish Rovers were more like that than they are. They're too 'nice' and they're too soft. As a group of players there is no nasty streak in them to rile up opponents and get the fans on side. As Roy Keane once said, "sometimes I might just smash into someone just to make me feel better". -

Pleased for Harry Leonard that he has started scoring for Peterborough. Absolute madness from Rovers to sell him permanently instead of just a loan deal. -

Football and results doesn't come first for the owners. They couldn't care less whether the team is top 6 or bottom 6. -

We could all see that it was total self sabotage by the club. With 4 at the back we were light with CBs, but switching to the 3 CB's system makes it completely unmanageable in a hectic Championship season. Absolutely no thought or long term planning by the club. -

Last season perhaps. I don't feel like they have the players to provide consistent service to any half decent striker. -
