Watching the highlights and that 2nd goal is a thing of beauty really. Kargbo and Gueye link up has a lot of potential. The speed of the move, the clinical finish from Dolan....just brilliant. Do Swansea still needlessly try and play out from the back? If so then Kargbo might be a good option to start with and put their defence under pressure with his pace. -
Stinks of Kolo Toure's spell at Wigan. It didn't go well!

Fantastic win, what a week! Forget all the off the pitch crap, the players have shown they are well up for it. Shame Cov got a late goal, that 5 point cushion looked pretty nice, especially with an improving goal difference. Delighted to see Kargbo have a hand in the 2nd goal, hopefully he kicks on and proves himself quite a shrewd and astute signing. Give Ribeiro a longer deal! Only minor complaint is that surely we need to be giving Dennis some minutes when we're 2 nil up. 5-10 mins off the bench would do him the World of good you'd think. Funny old game. A couple of weeks ago it was 2 wins from 7 or something...now its 3 wins from 4. Things change very quickly and I reckon there will be plenty more ups and downs before the season is out. I suspect by the time Rovers play again there will be someone new on the touchline. Hopefully it will bring a 3rd win in a row as well. -

Feels like Kargbo and Dennis are needed for Dolan and ACD. -

Forshaw starts, as does Cantwell, ACD and Sanderson. Carter on the bench. -

Oooof, could've done without a Bristol City goal. -
I'd take Duffer over a lot of the names mentioned, but maybe that's just me with my nostalgia tinted glasses on. It is the kind of thing the club would do at this point though, for sure. Bring in a fans favourite to stave off any anger in the short term, especially as this lot never think long term anyway!

Yeah, sorry I should've clarified it was Alan Nixon. You are right, he has gone full PR mode with "the owners are rich, this has nothing to do with the Venkys, Eustace just wanted to go and manage Derby, etc." What I'd really have liked in that scenario was for Andy Bayes to have challenged him more. Bayes was on the 72 podcast or whatever its called with Jobi McAnuff and I thought he was good in getting across what the problems at the football club are and why its likely Eustace chose a relegation fight over a playoff push...but presenting his own show on Radio Lancs last night he didn't relay any of those same thoughts to Nixon, who seemed to think Henry Winter / Big Sam were wrong in what they've been saying this week. Instead they just started going on about what Troy Deeney had been saying on TalkSport, which is a waste of time really given Deeney hasn't got two brain cells to rub together. Frustrating to listen to.

I'd be surprised. He's doing well at Strasbourg and was unfairly dismissed by Hull. He'd surely think twice about coming to work for this lot. I'm going to guess that the supposed 3 that have been interviewed are Karanka, Wicky & Wellens. -
I listened to the show and he was critical of Henry Winter, as well as Big Sam, who have both said their piece on how badly the club has been run by Venkys, and rightly so. His point about how Big Sam 'should know better' because he tried to leave Rovers before Venkys came in is irrelevant at this point. The fact is they've ruined the club and Allardyce has simply been making that point this week. It was really quite strange.

Genuinely wouldn't be surprised.

Gerard is a huge no from me. Failed at his last 2 clubs and only won 1 trophy in Scotland at one of the two biggest clubs in the country. Never even managed to win a cup competition up there and arguably only won the SPL title because Celtic completely imploded for a season. I can understand why others would want him, but I think it'd be a disaster. I think he's one of those former brilliant players who struggles to deal with the fact that the players he coaches are nowhere near what his level was as a player.

I'm more worried about Travis to Derby if Rovers don't sort out a new contract! -
Location of where they live shouldn't come into it at all. Wellens isn't the right choice IMO. Needs to earn his stripes with a promotion to the division first.

Unless you're dining at the absolute top table in football management, most head coaches / managers do use clubs as stepping stones to go onto something bigger and better. Same as with players really. That's just the way it goes in football. Having said that, he's taking a risk by potentially making a big backwards step by dropping down to league one if Derby go down, which I think they may well do given their lack of goals. -

This in some ways will be much tougher than the West Brom game. Plymouth have massively turned a corner under their new manager, who seems very impressive having seen a couple of videos of his team talks. The kind of manager / head coach that you can imagine players will run through brick walls for. Depending on Batth's injury, we may be forced to bring Sanderson in from the start, in which case I'd be looking to go with something like this team: Pears Brittain Sanderson Hyam Ribeiro Travis Buckley Dolan Dennis Kargbo Gueye I think we will really need some pace against Plymouth, so I think Kargbo and Dennis should come in for Hedges and Weimann. I don't think this will happen though, and the more likely change is Cantwell for Weimann, whilst Hedges keeps his place. I found it really odd that Kargbo was impressive against Wolves but only got a few minutes last night, whilst Dennis didn't get any minutes at all...but I can't argue with the result so there you go! My gut says this will be a tough score draw 1-1...Gueye to score again for Rovers, Hardie for Plymouth. -
Whoever it will be, it needs to be someone who doesn't come in and rock the boat so to speak. Looking at last night, regardless of what we think of David Lowe, Damien Johnson, etc, the players clearly like these guys and enjoy working with them....otherwise you don't get the kind of performance and result away at a playoff rival side as we saw last night. The biggest worry is that Gestede gives someone like Karanka a call. Middlesbrough promotion aside (which happened nearly 10 years ago), he's been a failure everywhere he's been, and I think being a student of Mourinho he is likely to upset players more than bringing them closer together. This group need someone similar to Eustace in terms of showing that mentality of togetherness and resilience. No drastic changes are required on the coaching side.

Could not be happier to be proven wrong last night. Seeing the starting XI I felt there would be no other outcome than a comfortable West Brom win, but this group of players has shown me yet again that they are up for the fight. Gueye was brilliant. What is that, 4 goals in 7 games for him now? Something like that anyway. He is well in form and looking like a real threat. He's come a long way from earlier in the season. -

It's not quite the same, but Derby's previous manager Paul Warne left Rotherham whilst they were in the Championship to join Derby and fight for promotion from League One. That's the closest thing I can think of, but he at least traded a relegation fight for a promotion push, just a division lower. Sounds like the hold up is at Rovers end of things. Unsurprising. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if it still isn't resolved by the weekend! -

Crikey, that front 4 is not the one. WBA comfortable win here. -
Although no mention of him from Nixon, nor does he seem to be high on the odds at the moment, but it scares me to death that Michael Beale is out of work. Good chance he would become Kean Mk2 given how things went at Sunderland with him.

I think Dennis showed he is really capable of playing centrally against Wolves as well, so I agree, have him playing in that role over Cantwell. I think this line-up is pretty much spot on and would be good to see tonight. -
The majority of that list is predictable and deeply underwhelming. Wicky is a unique choice. O'Neil, I just can't see it happening. Wicky wouldn't go to WBA because of an issue with bringing his coaching staff. Carvalhal never came to Rovers previously for the same reason. There's no chance either of these will join because Rovers will continue to employ the usual suspects like Lowe and Benson. If they can get any of them, I'd want Wicky or Carvalhal. The latter at least has experience managing in this country. As I say though, they'll want their own staff and Rovers would never go for it. It'll be Karanka, and he'll stink the place out.

Plymouth at home to Millwall tonight, which will make for a very interesting watch. Before the FA cup heroics at the weekend they seemed to have picked up a couple of decent results, beating WBA at home and drawing away at Sunderland. It could get seriously toxic on Saturday.
