  1. To see if there's any news... The thread is called "Summer Transfer Window" after all.
  2. Yeah I can't understand how people are being slated for showing positivity. Imagine if everyone was as negative as some are on here, would be an even more depressing place than it often is. I don't class myself as being overly optimistic or positive, more realistic, but to see people slating and trying to make others less positive makes pretty grim reading. Misery loves company I suppose. Go out and enjoy the sun instead
  3. Can't help but look at that team and think we're in trouble this season...
  4. I would argue Carter showed in the last 2 games that he isn't ready, we conceded 6 in those games altogether. Particularly remember him looking really poor on the turn against Luton, their player raced away from him on more than one occasion. Mowbray has already stated since the first couple of friendlies that we need "men" at centre back. I don't look at Wharton and see someone who can dominate a striker. Granted Tosin didn't do that either but he had his other attributes. I'm not sure what Wharton's are. I'm agreeing with the Bell comments. He is poor, I just feel a poor left back is easier to mask than a poor centre half.
  5. We haven't seen enough of Wharton and Carter at this level to know they aren't liabilities. And the centre of defence is arguably a more crucial position in general, literally the last bit of protection a goalkeeper has, you can't be be going into a season with only one good centre half at this level.
  6. To be fair we have friendlies against Everton and Leicester coming up... Don't have to go to the continent to get decent opposition
  7. Bell isn't great by all means, but we have gone on good runs with him in the team. For me priority has to be CB. Wharton and Carter have about 4 Championship starts between them. Carter didn't look ready and wasn't Wharton at fault for Blackpool's goal? Not saying that should be used to determine he isn't ready but personally I'd feel far more comfortable with someone next to Lenihan with similar experience.
  8. Doesn't even make sense. Course you'll know whatever happens. He's a moron
  9. Not a Bielsa type of defender. Can't see that. They've supposedly just bid 30m for a Lazio centre half. Aiming higher
  10. Nothing about a bid being accepted though. They run stuff about interest sometimes, but usually deals don't get reported on there till very close. Like as is often the case with Rovers they don't reveal much until it's near enough done. One of the few positives about their lack of communication
  11. Trying to remember a time when the LT has reported us to be in talks with a player and them not end up signing. They usually report well down the line of things. It seemed strange to read an article by them about us agreeing a fee. Wishful thinking probably but I feel like the Kipre deal must be quite far on.
  12. Think that's in relation to the kit and sponsor only...
  13. Surely Kipre can't be on that much money at Wigan. Feel like we'd be able to offer an improvement on his wages at least. Just hope no one else pops in for him. Aside from West Ham links a while ago I've not heard much else. Fingers crossed
  14. Did we definitely want Phillips though? I know he seemed like a good proposition to us on here but that doesn't mean we tried for him and couldn't afford him..
  15. Agreed. Whenever I've been there following Rovers I've always thought their reputation as fans was pretty unwarranted. They only make noise when they're angry. Though maybe you just can't hear them when sat all the way up in the nose bleeds stand that the away fans get shoved in. I think you'll be hard pressed to find many grounds that show as much passion and create as much noise these days in comparison to the 90s. Boring possession based football being favoured by managers over blood and thunder football from back then I feel is mostly to blame. Sound familiar?
  16. Or maybe we'll have a domestic back up keeper signed for free or on loan by the start of the season too and he can play the first couple of games...
  17. I imagine some will do both. Anything to fit a narrative...
  18. Wonder where that lad on Twitter yesterday got wind of Kipre interest. He was claiming it was a done deal, not saying to believe him or anything but if he knew we had interest before anyone else seemingly did...
  19. Well for a start, the budget not being established cropped up in an interview with Mowbray did it not? It wasn't like it was a press release on the club website or anything. Maybe the journalists aren't asking him the right questions or maybe the club feels they don't need to come out and say that a budget has been determined, perhaps thinking their actions will speak louder. Granted, at the moment the silence is pretty deafening in that sense considering we haven't signed anyone, and that sluggishness in the market is definitely something to be a little frustrated by. Equally the business with the kit is also a bit shoddy. Personally, though, I just don't see the need for that kind of declaration or information on the transfer front. Let them get on with it, don't let fretting over the budget of a football club ruin your day and just wait and see what happens.
  20. It's sort of irrelevant. Most businesses redo their budgets regularly, so I imagine Rovers would for each transfer window too. The issue in our sense is that often if there is money left unspent from a budget that suggests to those running an organisation that less is needed next time...
  21. Hope it's true. I'd feel a lot more confident if it wasn't just one random bloke on Twitter saying it
